The atmosphere at the scene didn't need Lu Feng to create any excitement. Everyone who came to eat was a shrewd person. It was obvious without asking that they were influential figures in their workplaces and sycophants of the leaders.
The meal lasted until after 3 p.m. Mr. Xiao was having a great time, holding Xiaoli's hand with a big smile on his face. After the group went downstairs, Lu Feng pulled Mr. Xiao aside, looking troubled, and said, "Mr. Hao, I don't have enough money in my pocket!"
"One meal isn't enough for you?" Boss Hao glared at Lu Feng. He had never seen anyone like this before. He said in a low voice, "What are you doing out here without any money on you? Going out on business? This is ridiculous."
"Brother, I really have no other choice. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come all this way to ask for the money. I originally planned to camp out at the entrance of Beigang Steel Company because collecting debts is not easy. I didn't expect you to have a solution." Lu Feng said, holding Boss Hao's hand, "Brother, dear brother, as soon as my five million arrives, I will return double the amount. I will never let you down!"
Mr. Xiao is still standing there; isn't this a slap in the face to the leader?
Mr. Hao was forced into a corner and could only say, "Bring me the money as soon as possible. I'm only helping you out because you're a young man, so I'll get the contract signed for you."
"Thank you, brother, I will definitely repay you!" Lu Feng said politely, "I will never forget you, you are a good person!"
Mr. Xiao took out a pen from his pocket, went to the front desk to sign the form, and left the hotel to go to his workplace. Lu Feng saw Feng Zhiyao following him out and waved him back.
Upon arriving at the Beigang building, Lu Feng followed him upstairs. Boss Xiao held considerable influence there, and many people greeted him politely along the way.
Once inside the office, the other person sat down and stared at Lu Feng, giving him a once-over.
Lu Feng clasped his hands tightly together in front of him, looking extremely reserved and like someone who had never seen the world before. President Xiao smiled and pointed to the chair in front of him, saying, "Sit down, don't be nervous. You're a business owner too, a boss."
“I can’t compare to you; I run a private company.” Lu Feng sat down.
"That's incomparable. Can you even call a private enterprise a company?" Mr. Xiao snorted, clearly looking down on private enterprises. He lit a cigarette and said, "Young man, let me tell you this: having power is worse than having money, understand?"
"I don't quite understand!" Lu Feng quickly shook his head, praising the other person, "What you're saying is too profound."
"You're obviously inexperienced. Let me ask you one thing: has anyone ever offered you money, treated you to meals, or even knelt down and kowtowed just to get a job at your company?" President Xiao looked down at Lu Feng with his head held high.
“How could that be? I’m always hiring, and when I’m busy, I have to beg workers to come to me,” Lu Feng replied.
"That's the difference. You don't need to worry about not getting your money back. Who's backing up this state-owned enterprise?" Mr. Xiao said, slightly drunk, taking a drag of his cigarette, the smoke swirling around him.
"That's what I thought at the time, which is why I extended the loan. Small businesses can't afford it," Lu Feng said with a bitter expression.
“I feel like I’ve heard of your company somewhere before. It doesn’t seem like a small company, but I can’t quite place it. I’ll let you off easy since you’re just a kid. Xiao Hao has already told you everything, understand?” Mr. Xiao asked.
“Understood. As long as the board of directors agrees, everything is negotiable.” Lu Feng nodded vigorously.
"Young people need more experience. Don't be so dull. Learn to read the room. Someone like you will suffer a great loss sooner or later." President Xiao began to lecture him like an elder.
As he spoke, he opened a drawer, took out a standard contract, placed it on the table, and asked, "Can this be done in three to five days?"
"I'll try my best!" Lu Feng looked at the contract and said, "Mr. Xiao, does this contract change the bill for the television sets to the bill for the raw materials?"
“Yes, isn’t this exactly what you wanted?” Mr. Xiao asked, looking up.
“I’m really afraid something might go wrong. Could you write it as, ‘This account can be directly exchanged for steel?’ I don’t mean anything else, I just want to say that I’ve made progress here to appease the board members,” Lu Feng tentatively asked.
“That won’t do. Accounts are just accounts. If we write down the corresponding amount and grade of steel, it will cause big problems. I’ve already been very lenient with you.” President Xiao looked at Lu Feng warily.
"Don't overthink it. It's not written in the contract. You can just write a line down below it. I'm showing it to the board members. Besides, even if I want to exchange it for steel, I'll still have to buy it from you. It's all in your hands, isn't it?" Lu Feng thought for him.
Mr. Xiao let out a burp, thinking that a young man like Lu Feng couldn't accomplish anything. He was like a mountain in front of Lu Feng, able to see right through the young man.
Regardless of what the other person thinks, they are like a monkey in front of him.
"Five million, hurry up!" General Manager Xiao picked up a pen and wrote a line at the bottom: "The payment under this contract can be redeemed for Beigang products." Then he picked up the stamp and started stamping it. After finishing, he asked, "What about the original account?"
Lu Feng handed over all the original bills and receipts, a jumbled mess. After confirming that everything was correct, the other party tore them up and threw them into the trash can, tossed the contract in front of Lu Feng, and said, "That's fine."
"Thank you, Mr. Xiao. Mr. Hao said he's treating us to dinner tonight, a lavish affair. He hopes you can join us," Lu Feng said politely.
"No problem!" Mr. Xiao readily agreed, not caring at all who would treat him.
As he stepped out of the gates of Beigang Steel, Lu Feng looked at the contract in his hand and breathed a sigh of relief. It came so easily; when it comes to collecting debts, you really have to use your brain.
"How did it go? Is it all done?" President Hao asked as he walked over.
"With you here, brother, what can't we get done?" Lu Feng grinned at him and said, "President Xiao said we're going to Jin Fen Ren Jia tonight."
