Chapter 552 Unraveling the Knot

Aunt Liu looked terrified, standing there like a frightened rabbit, not uttering a word. Seeing this, Old Zhou became even more aggressive, scolding, "I'm talking to you, what are you doing standing here without saying a word?"

"Let's talk things out. We're all family, there's nothing we can't resolve," Lu Feng said.

"Boss, this has nothing to do with you, it's my family's business." Old Zhou stared at Aunt Liu with unfriendly eyes. Seeing that she still didn't speak, he became angry and grabbed her arm, pulling her away.

Aunt Liu was terrified and kept backing away, shrinking her neck. Zhou Ya cried out, rushed forward, grabbed her mother, and shielded her, shouting, "What else can you do besides hit her?"

"Get out of my way!" Old Zhou shouted angrily, pointing at Zhou Ya. "Get out of my way!"

"You can't hit her!!" Zhou Ya was already in tears, her hands were trembling, and she mustered the greatest courage of her life to stand in front of her.

"I'll beat her up. She's still disobedient. If I don't beat her now, there's no family discipline left." Old Zhou pulled Zhou Ya aside.

Jiang Xiaoyan ran out after hearing the commotion and saw three people pulling and tugging at each other. She hurriedly went up to them and asked, "What's going on? What's going on? Who are these people?"

“This has nothing to do with you, it’s a family matter,” Old Zhou said to Jiang Xiaoyan.

Jiang Xiaoyan asked Aunt Liu, "Is this your husband?"

Aunt Liu nodded with tears streaming down her face, saying nothing, only wiping away her tears with her hands, looking so haggard and powerless. Jiang Xiaoyan looked at Old Zhou, took a deep breath, and asked, "Why did you hit her? A grown man like you only knows how to hit her? Is that all you've got?"

"What's it to you? This is my wife." Old Zhou didn't want to have a direct confrontation with Jiang Xiaoyan. He took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, lit one, and waved his hand, saying, "This is my family's business."

“This isn’t your business. Aunt Liu is my employee now. Can’t we sit down and talk about it? Why did you have to resort to violence? Look at what she’s been beaten up on the back!” Jiang Xiaoyan questioned.

Lu Feng stood at the door looking at Jiang Xiaoyan. He had always thought that she was always like that, docile like a kitten, always swallowing her grievances.

But today I realized that she had transformed at some point. The kitten had grown up, its claws had become sharp, and it dared to stand in front of others and question them.

Old Zhou kept saying that this was his family matter and it was none of Jiang Xiaoyan's business to interfere. Jiang Xiaoyan also kept saying that Aunt Liu was her employee.

"Why did I hit her? She's useless!" Old Zhou suddenly became agitated, pointing his finger at Aunt Liu's nose and shouting, "Let her talk for herself, you talk!!"

Seeing that Lao Zhou was emotionally unstable, Lu Feng took two steps forward.

Aunt Liu just cried. Jiang Xiaoyan looked at her and said, "Aunt Liu, don't cry. Why? When did he hit you? How many times has this happened? Why are you still living with him?"

"Why did you hit my mother?" Zhou Ya asked, tears streaming down her face. She choked out, "You hit people whenever you drink, and you smash things when you get home, and then you blame my mother."

"I hit her, she deserved it. I married her, and she gave birth to a worthless bastard like you who can't carry on the family line. Of your three uncles, I'm the only one without an heir. What use is she to me?" Old Zhou roared at Aunt Liu, his eyes red, "Useless! A hen that can't lay eggs!!"

Jiang Xiaoyan's face turned pale instantly, her pupils narrowed, and she stared at Lao Zhou, shouting, "Is this your reason for hitting her?"

"Isn't that enough?"

"You bastard!" Jiang Xiaoyan raised her hand and slapped Lao Zhou across the face. Pointing to the exit, she shouted, "This is my home. You are not welcome here. Get out now! And no matter what, Aunt Liu gave you a daughter and has been with you for half her life. If you hit someone again, don't blame me for being impolite!"

Old Zhou was slapped, but he didn't get angry at all. He stared fiercely at Aunt Liu and her daughter, clearly intending to settle accounts with them later.

"Get out, or I'll call security!" Jiang Xiaoyan shouted.

Old Zhou watched the mother and daughter turn and leave. Jiang Xiaoyan took a deep breath and said to Aunt Liu and her daughter, "Don't cry, go back inside."

She wanted to say a few words of comfort, but didn't know what to say, so she could only pull the two of them back.

After settling the two people in, Jiang Xiaoyan sat in the living room, stunned. She raised her hand and looked at it. The slap she had just received had left her hand red, but she felt an extraordinary sense of satisfaction, and everything felt much clearer.

Turning her head, she saw Lu Feng looking at her and said, "You didn't even say you'd do anything about it."

“You were able to handle it, and you handled it very well.” Lu Feng laughed.

"I feel really good inside, and my whole body feels so much better." Jiang Xiaoyan thought for a moment and then asked, "Because of hitting someone?"

Old Zhou's behavior just now was exactly like Lu Feng's before. Jiang Xiaoyan's last bit of suppressed emotion was completely released. The slap she gave was not to Old Zhou, but to the Lu Feng of the past.

She completely severed ties with Lu Feng, owing him nothing.

Just like the old Chinese medicine doctor told her, let go of what you should let go of, don't be angry with yourself, it's pointless to be at odds with yourself, holding grudges will only make your blood and qi flow poorly.

Lu Feng walked up to her, reached out and patted her head, comforting her, "It's all over now!"

Aunt Liu talked to Jiang Xiaoyan for a long time, crying her eyes out. That's how the world is: the miserable are always the same, but the lucky have their own adventures.

Lu Feng didn't want to listen to these trivial family matters, so he went for a stroll on the beach by himself.

Today is May 26th. Mr. Feng did not go out. He sat in his study with the ink painting in front of him and practiced with the brush for a long time.
