The lights on the lawn were already on, and there were dozens of people there. Everyone was smiling as they met, and the topics they were talking about were nothing more than the things that had happened recently.
At seven o'clock in the evening, Tang Zhongren walked into the venue in a blue suit. He looked around, first glancing to see if there were any beautiful women, but unfortunately there weren't any, nor did he spot Lu Feng.
He exchanged a few polite words with several older executives, then walked aside and said no more.
As more and more people gathered, the scene became increasingly noisy. At 7:30, Lu Feng took a taxi to the back entrance of the hotel, went inside, and walked along the path.
Seeing that the lawn was already packed with people, a man in his forties came over and said, "Lu Feng?"
"It's me!"
His eyes held a hint of mockery as he said with a half-smile, "I am the general manager of Tianyuan Securities, the organizer of this banquet. I must say, Mr. Lu is young, promising, and bold, coming all by himself."
"It's not like it's a den of dragons or tigers, what's there to be afraid of?"
"Hahahaha!" he laughed, gesturing for the others to proceed, and said, "Please."
Lu Feng walked inside, then turned to the ushers and said, "Tell everyone that Lu Feng has arrived."
As soon as Lu Feng entered, a young woman with a microphone said, "Everyone, please be quiet. The most important person tonight, Mr. Lu Feng, has arrived. Please welcome him."
No one applauded; their eyes searched around before settling on Lu Feng a few minutes later.
He had seen this kind of scene many times and was not afraid at all. He stared at the crowd and stepped inside. There were constant whispers and murmurs, and several of them had unfriendly looks.
"Lu Feng, you still dare to show your face? What have you been doing all day besides spouting nonsense?" A man in his fifties gritted his teeth and said to Lu Feng, "Do you even know how many millions you've cost me?"
"That's your problem, what does it have to do with me?" Lu Feng said to him, "Isn't today's banquet about discussing investments?"
“We invested in Chen’s Capital, and you’re here to cause trouble. Who else should we turn to if not you?” Another older man pointed at Lu Feng and shouted, “You’re not leaving until you lose money today.”
"That's right!"
"I have no money, I just came here to freeload. You've lost more money than I've gained. It's no use coming to me. I recommend you go to the rooftop and end it all," Lu Feng said nonchalantly.
"You're still so arrogant? If you hadn't been spouting nonsense, would we have had to pay so much?" A middle-aged man was furious. He blamed all the losses on Lu Feng and rushed over to grab his clothes.
Tang Zhongren, standing at the back of the first layer of people, saw this scene and shouted, "Beat him up!"
"Let go, or don't blame me for being impolite. Don't think I won't beat you up just because you're older." Lu Feng looked at the other party coldly and said, "I've dealt with people older than you before."
"Try hitting me, you mainland guy!" Lu Feng said, and then a fist came flying at Lu Feng's face. Six or seven people rushed at him.
They were all quite old, looking to be in their fifties or sixties.
Lu Feng was punched, and the crowd gasped in surprise. No one expected the banquet to start like this.
Lu Feng felt a bit dizzy. He grabbed the other person's hand and pulled it away. He was old, how could he possibly be a match for Lu Feng, a young and strong man?
Lu Feng reached out and grabbed the other man's sparse hair, punching him hard, while four or five old men kicked him in the back.
The old man who took Lu Feng's punch lay down on the grass. No one of the older folks dared to look at him. Lu Feng turned around, stared at the remaining old men, and rushed over to deliver a flurry of punches.
He knocked him to the ground and then kicked him straight in the face with his leather shoes.
"Fuck your mother!" Lu Feng cursed at the old men, "Hit me? You've got the wrong person."
Three police cars stopped at the back entrance of the hotel. Six officers got out, showed their identification, and went through the back entrance, heading straight for the banquet. The case against Lu Feng for slandering President Chen had already been filed, and they were now making arrests without delay.
At the Feng family home, Mr. Feng and Feng Zhiyao ate their meal in silence. The table was quiet when Zhenkun hurried in and whispered, "President Chen's case against Lu Feng has been filed, and I heard they've already gone to arrest him."
“Call the police station and tell them that we don’t support or like this. Also, if Mr. Chen keeps pressing them for answers, and they dare to utter a single word, don’t blame me for being ruthless with their votes and funding next year,” Mr. Feng said in a deep voice.
Zhenkun nodded and walked out again, secretly sighing to himself that the battle of the gods had only just begun.
