A few minutes later, Secretary Cui knocked on the door and came in, looking at Huang Youwei and saying, "You're here really early today!"
"Has Di Mingde arrived?" Huang Youwei asked.
"It seems like he hasn't arrived yet." Huang Youwei glanced at his watch and said, "It's only 7:30 now, we don't start work until 8."
"At the last meeting, I instructed them to lift the seizure order on Jiafeng Electronics. Have you heard how it's going?" Huang Youwei asked as he sat down.
Secretary Cui looked troubled. He should know what was going on. He could have just held a meeting to explain, and Di Mingde could have cooperated. But now he was pressing for details about the implementation. Wasn't that just making things difficult for himself?
"What's wrong? Are you in such a difficult situation?" Huang Youwei asked, staring at him.
"There's been no movement at all. They say they're going through some procedures, but they're just dragging it out. You should understand," Secretary Cui said tactfully.
"I understand?" Huang Youwei's expression turned angry. He slammed his hand on the table, stood up, and shouted, "What do they all want to do? Who are they trying to fool? Tell them, if they want to do it, they can do it; if they don't want to do it, they can get out of here. A single word can make him rise or fall. The world keeps turning no matter who's gone, including Di Mingde!"
"Please calm down," Secretary Cui hurriedly advised. "You're at a crucial moment right now, so you have to be patient."
"Endure? I can't fucking endure it. If he has the guts, let him completely sideline me!" Huang Youwei said coldly, "Go, notify everyone to hold a general meeting. At 8:10, everyone gather in the assembly hall to seriously discuss issues of conduct and discipline."
Secretary Cui didn't know what was wrong with Huang Youwei. He used to always say he would be patient, but today he seemed to have gone mad. She wanted to say a few more words of advice, but seeing his face, she didn't dare to say anything more. She could only respond and leave.
Around 8 a.m., several vice mayors were in Di Mingde's office. He smoked a cigarette and asked, "I heard that Old Huang got angry early this morning? And is he going to hold a big meeting?"
"I think you shouldn't be too disrespectful to him; you should at least be reasonable."
"Jiafeng Electronics is his pride and joy. Undermining him like this is going too far."
"I think it's okay too."
Di Mingde tapped his cigarette ash into the ashtray, leaned back in his chair, and said, "I need to let my subordinates know who the future is. As for Huang Youwei getting angry, that's all he is. At worst, I'll write a self-criticism and lock him up for a few more days. What can he do to me?"
Seeing Di Mingde's arrogance, the group felt more confident. Even if something terrible happened, the tall guy would take the blame, so what were they afraid of?
Di Mingde felt great at the moment. Huang Youwei couldn't do anything to him now. It was best for him to be a good-natured figurehead, wait for a transfer order, pack his bags and leave. This place was his domain.
At 8:30, the Great Hall of the People was already full of people, who were whispering among themselves about why the meeting had been suddenly called, without knowing the specifics of the meeting.
As Huang Youwei, Di Mingde, and seven or eight others walked in, enthusiastic applause broke out. After everyone took their seats, Huang Youwei spoke into the microphone in front of him: "The reason for this urgent meeting is to discuss the issue of cadre conduct. The atmosphere has been very bad recently, and there are many rumors circulating, especially regarding the surprise raid on Jiafeng Electronics."
When Di Mingde heard that this matter had indeed been mentioned, he sneered and sat there without saying a word. He planned to criticize the relevant person in charge at the meeting and get away with it. As for him, he would not be blamed or punished at all.
“Here, I must name one person: Di Mingde!” Huang Youwei bluntly pointed out Di Mingde’s name.
A few people who were yawning earlier perked up instantly when Huang Youwei called their names. Wasn't this just a casual meeting? Why was he taking it so seriously? Many of them had felt the murderous aura just now.
Everyone present sat up straight. They were tired of meetings, which were like drinking plain water, but this meeting was clearly different.
Di Mingde was also a little confused. Why was his name called in front of so many people?
"Old Huang, what's wrong with me now?" Di Mingde was clearly unhappy.
"What do you mean by 'Old Huang'? What kind of address is that?" Huang Youwei slammed his hand on the table and shouted, "Call me by my position or comrade. This kind of lax and undisciplined attitude has penetrated to the bone. You can see the whole picture from a small part of it. So much time has passed since the seizure of Jiafeng Electronics was lifted, and there hasn't been a single word."
"Secretary Huang, I have a report to give you." Di Mingde perked up and became alert, and hurriedly said, "After yesterday's meeting, I had already made the arrangements. Even if I were to carry them out, it would take some time, wouldn't it? You called my name right away. I want to ask, is this a denunciation meeting?"
"How long will it take to tear off the seal?" Huang Youwei asked, staring directly at him.
Di Mingde was dumbfounded. He tried to find an excuse, but Di Mingde wouldn't give him a way out.
"That still requires going through procedures, such as the approval of relevant documents..."
"Was it approved before it was sealed off? Why was it so fast?" Huang Youwei scolded.
Di Mingde's face changed. With so many people present, he was showing no respect whatsoever. He was losing face. If Huang Youwei pointed his finger at him and berated him at the meeting today, he wouldn't be able to do anything else, and no one would follow him anymore.
“You’re just looking for trouble with me today. This meeting is targeting me, isn’t it?” Di Mingde slammed his hand on the table and said, “If you have a problem with me, is it necessary to suppress me? I reserve my opinion on all the criticisms you’ve made of me today.”
Huang Youwei completely ignored him, and everyone present was on edge. They had never seen two leaders bickering like this in a meeting before. This was a big deal, and the two seemed like they were irreconcilable enemies.
