Chapter 682 Old Techniques Reimagined

“That’s the same trick Wall Street used decades ago!” another person laughed.

The three talked about recent maritime trade. In late 1993, as the world was completely freed from the Cold War, international trade began to be frequent. Somalia fell into civil war, and the famous Black Hawk Down incident occurred. Ordinary people with nowhere to live boarded speedboats, took AKs, and transformed into pirates.

Pirates have their own rules and methods. They know which ships they can rob and which they can't. Some pirates can even receive advance notice and rob a particular ship in advance.

However, with the influx of unruly pirates, the piracy industry has become increasingly competitive and rampant, even seriously affecting national economies. As a result, many countries have had no choice but to unite to combat piracy.

Whether pirates are good or bad depends on how they are used. For Mr. Lü, he is better than anyone at letting pirates double-cross each other on the high seas. He doesn't have the guts to eliminate pirates, but he has a lot of guts to use the name of pirates to rob his own ships and then divide the loot!

"Times are changing, and the international landscape is changing too," Mr. Lü remarked, puffing on his cigar.

As soon as she finished speaking, a pair of slender feet stepped down the stairs. She was wearing a bathrobe and her hair was wet. Upon closer inspection, she was a popular female celebrity.

"Mr. Lü, it's time to rest!" she said in a sweet voice.

"Enough of this, it's time to stretch our legs." General Manager Lü stood up, put his cigar aside, and said to the two executives beside him, "You two should go back to your rooms and rest too; there's a surprise for you!"

The two men exchanged a glance and burst into a slightly lewd laugh.

The next day, a morning newspaper caught Lu Feng's eye. He started reading it while eating breakfast. The headline read: "Jiafeng Electronics and Guangfa Trade's negotiations have completely fallen apart. The home appliance industry may usher in a huge change next year."

"What time are our flights?" Feng Zhiyao, who was sitting opposite me, asked.

"We took off at 10 a.m. and arrived at 6 p.m.," Lu Feng said casually, putting down his newspaper. "And we booked expensive business class. This trip is too costly; we'll lose money if we don't make it back."

Feng Zhiyao shook his head at Lu Feng's stingy expression. He had spoken to his father on the phone last night and told him everything that had happened yesterday. Mr. Feng thought that Lu Feng had gone too far. Even if they couldn't cooperate in business, they shouldn't make enemies.

However, since we've invested in Lu Feng, we have to trust him and not call him every few days to give instructions.

"Brother Feng, I'm just curious, what are you planning to do? You're even going all the way to the UAE," Feng Zhiyao asked, slurping his porridge.

"Simple, get some big shots to endorse it, bring in some nobles, just to scare people, the same old trick!" Lu Feng said casually.

“You might fool people with this trick in small towns, but in the international community, everyone is shrewd. This trick probably won’t work,” Feng Zhiyao said worriedly.

“I’m not the same person I used to be. I’m not the Lu Feng who was poor and unknown to everyone in a small town. Do you know what kind of swindler is the scariest?” Lu Feng looked up at him and asked.

"Scammers have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves, I don't really know them all!" Feng Zhiyao said, sounding embarrassed.

"Have you ever lied?" Lu Feng smiled slightly at him.

"I've said it before, who hasn't lied to someone?"

"What kind of lies are easiest for people to believe?" Lu Feng asked again.

Feng Zhiyao thought for a while, not knowing what kind of lie would be most believable, and shook his head, saying, "Brother Feng, just tell me."

“For example, if you get 60 on a test and you’re going to get a beating when you get home, but you don’t want to get a beating, if you go home and say you got 90, your dad definitely won’t believe you. But if you say you got 72.5, he’ll definitely believe you.” Lu Feng looked at him with a smile and said, “There’s truth in lies, and lies in truth. Half a lie is the most convincing.”

"So, what does this have to do with this trip?" Feng Zhiyao still couldn't figure it out.

“Hey, you’ve been by my side for so long, you must have developed some acting skills by now. But it’s all the same old stuff. You can’t take it to a foreign country thousands of miles away. So, I’m going to try something new.” Lu Feng said methodically after taking a bite.

"What? Old tricks repackaged? What does that mean?"

"It's just adding some new stuff to this thing. Don't worry, this trip will be your highlight. By the way, how many of those guys you raced with last time are reliable?" Lu Feng asked, staring at him.

For some reason, Feng Zhiyao suddenly felt uneasy under his gaze!
