Sixty million?
Compared to the previously quoted price of over 100 million, the price has been halved. Lu Feng knew that technology patents didn't have a real price; they could be sold for one million or one hundred million.
Liu Cheng was very puzzled. Didn't they report 45 million internally?
Lu Feng noticed his confusion, coughed, and gave him a look, telling him not to say anything more. The current offer of 60 million was based on 45 million.
This also shows that they themselves were not very clear about the value of this laboratory.
“Since you’ve been so direct, I’ll be direct too.” As he spoke, Lu Feng reached out to the side and handed him an evaluation report: “This is an evaluation report of Ruixin Laboratory from an internationally authoritative organization. It’s twenty-three pages long and assesses the value of the technology patents owned by Ruixin Laboratory. You can take a look.”
Lu Feng handed the report to Hirata Ichiro, and four or five people across from him took turns flipping through it. Lu Feng continued, "According to the assessment, these patents are worth forty million US dollars. Moreover, your company has completely lost its technological advantages in these areas. They are outdated technologies. Therefore, we cannot accept the price of sixty million, because there is no market for them."
Hirata Ichiro and his group spent almost half an hour reading the report. They could tell that Lu Feng had come prepared.
“Mr. Lu Feng, you yourself said it’s outdated technology, but you should know that advanced technologies have a broad market, so how could they be sold off in a package?” A man in his forties said with a smile, “Take the latest PHS technology, for example, even if you offered us five hundred million US dollars, we wouldn’t sell it!”
"What is PHS technology?" Lu Feng asked Liu Cheng in a low voice.
"Short-range coverage calling technology can enable mobile calls within a city. They are currently promoting it on a large scale. You see people on the street carrying those small mobile phones, right? Those are them!" Liu Cheng said in a low voice.
"A mobile phone?" Lu Feng thought for a moment, and based on the timeline, it must be a mobile phone.
“We’re not particularly interested in your technology; we just want to buy some basic information. Forty million US dollars is already a lot,” Lu Feng told them.
Hirata Ichiro's face began to wrinkle. He found the price somewhat unacceptable. After pondering for a while, he shook his head and said, "We can't negotiate this price. Whether it's forty million or forty-five million, we can't accept it. Valuation can't be determined by an asset appraisal. You should know that our family invested seventy million US dollars in these technologies back then."
“But you’ve already made countless seventy million dollars!” Lu Feng looked at him with a smile and said, “Mr. Hirata, that’s not how it works. Like you just said, the latest PHS technology is worth 500 million, but will it still be worth that much in many years? When GSM/WCDMA/LTE technologies are all mature, I believe it won’t be worth anything anymore.”
"Okay, uh... we had a very good talk yesterday, and I can feel your sincerity. Give me a reasonable price, but I still need to report to my superiors." As Hirata Ichiro spoke, someone handed him a note, which he glanced at.
Lu Feng also received notes from his staff. This was a psychological battle; it was a test of who could withstand it. Whoever couldn't hold on any longer would have to admit defeat.
"Fifty million!" Lu Feng gave a figure, keeping the last five million as a backup.
“Okay, I think we still have a chance to meet again.” He stood up, a smile on his face, and shook hands with Lu Feng.
As they left the conference room, Lu Feng whispered to Hirata Ichiro, "I just want to know where your limits are. I'll also tell you our objective this time: we're determined to win!"
Hirata Ichiro smiled upon hearing this. "So this is easy to talk to? He's willingly revealing his secrets. Since you're so determined to have him, don't blame me for taking advantage of you."
“However, I’m the kind of person who always tries to be polite first and then resort to force!” Lu Feng added.
"What do you mean?" Hirata Ichiro asked, somewhat puzzled.
“Exactly, if something can be solved with money, try to solve it with money. If it can't be solved with money, then why bother spending it?” Lu Feng looked at him and said, “Don’t you agree?”
Hirata Ichiro was slightly puzzled, unsure of what he was trying to say.
"You should quote a price to the higher-ups first. You're not a bad guy!" Lu Feng patted him on the shoulder and said, "Good bastard!"
The young translator paused mid-sentence, glanced at Hirata Ichiro's side to make sure his translator hadn't followed, then breathed a sigh of relief and said to Hirata Ichiro, "You're a good person!"
"Thank you. You may have to wait a while, as there have been quite a few internal matters at the group recently." Hirahara Ichiro paused for a moment before saying, "You can go and experience the local culture."
"I've experienced it, it's quite erotic!" Lu Feng nodded.
The two chatted as they went downstairs. On the way back, Lu Feng leaned back in the back seat and closed his eyes to rest. Suddenly, he opened his eyes and asked Liu Cheng in the front seat, "If we ignore the patent rights, can you make it?"
Liu Cheng was taken aback by his sudden question and paused for a moment before replying, "It's difficult, but with a few tricks, it shouldn't be a big problem."
Lu Feng frowned. Could he be thinking of opening it to take a look? If he could get it that easily, why bother coming all this way?
“It’s not about disassembling and copying. We can’t do it ourselves even if we take it apart, but we can get some blueprints from the international black market!” Liu Cheng said hesitantly, “It might take a little longer.”
