Lu Feng nodded secretly to himself. This person's thinking wasn't formed in a day; rather, he already had this market awareness.
"We'll discuss market positioning later. If we open a new factory now, can it start production this year?" Lu Feng asked the two of them.
Neither of them knew anything about this; it was all handled by Wei Yandan.
“That depends on how the local municipal government cooperates. This matter is very complicated, especially since the beginning of this year, major cities have not been as aggressive in attracting investment. They are not as focused on domestic investment, but mainly on attracting foreign investment.” Zhu Lidong thought for a moment and said, “We have exceeded our foreign exchange quota this year, and importing production lines would also be a problem.”
Lu Feng could only sigh, realizing that some opportunities had to be seized quickly, otherwise they would be blocked. In just a few short years, the major policy shifts had occurred.
The old methods no longer work.
However, those "Lu Fengs" from previous years have already accumulated a wealth of experience and have now become the backbone of various industries. Since the country has been supporting them, it will naturally not continue to feed them and needs them to start building their strength.
“If we go to a smaller place, I don’t think it will be a big problem. We still have a lot of say, and it shouldn’t be a problem to get the city to make some moves and move some resources,” Zhu Lidong suggested to Lu Feng.
“We won’t go to small places. This time, when choosing a city, we have to have a long-term plan. Since we can’t produce this year anyway, let’s build a big factory. A bigger project will give the group some muscle, and if I need money, it’ll be easier to boast about the valuation.” Lu Feng took a drag of his cigarette, stubbed it out in the ashtray, and said, “Have you been in contact with anyone in Tianjin?”
“We have distributors in Tianjin. I’ve been there a few times. The leaders there are not easy to deal with. They’re all ‘wealthy people,’ unlike Shenzhen, where people have just become rich.” Zhu Lidong clearly didn’t have the same comfortable life there as he did in his small town.
"I can go and ask. If that doesn't work, I'll make a trip and designate this place as our main production base in the future." Lu Feng knew that with the current level of automation in the production line, it was only a matter of time before a company of Jiafeng Electronics' size had more than 100,000 employees.
Once the new millennium arrives and assembly lines become fully automated, there will be a large number of layoffs. The problem is that workers' wages have now become the biggest expense for Jiafeng Electronics.
The advantages of building a factory in Tianjin are obvious. It has the largest port and wharf, making cargo transportation very convenient. At the same time, Tianjin is a heavy industrial city in the north with a complete industrial support system and a very large population. It can be said that in terms of heavy industry, Shenzhen is far inferior to Tianjin.
Apart from Northeast China, the vast majority of the automotive industry is located in Tianjin. Tianjin Dafa, FAW-Volkswagen, imported cars, and later Xiali all originated here. At the same time, this is a world of steel.
Not only Tianjin, but the entire Yanbei region can be described as a steelmaking furnace. There used to be a joke that China ranked first in global steel production, Hebei ranked second, and Hebei was the third in terms of underreporting.
It may be difficult to describe just how advanced this city is or how many businesses it has, but one standard can prove its strength and status: it already had a subway in 1976, making it one of only two cities in the country with a subway.
The four of them talked a lot about the new factory area and the pager market. After lunch, there wasn't much to do in the afternoon, although Liu Cheng still had to work overtime to get the pagers. Headquarters would be back to work on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, and Wei Yandan was supposed to come back on the third day to sort things out. Zhu Lidong was also busy dealing with the situation in the home appliance market after the New Year.
Around 2 PM, Lu Feng drove back to the villa. When he parked his car at the door, he saw a beautiful woman standing there. She was wearing a light yellow wool coat that reached her calves, over which she wore a white turtleneck sweater, figure-hugging trousers, and pointed high heels. She had large sunglasses on and wavy hair, exuding an international fashion sense.
Lu Feng lowered the car window and looked at the person. The other person also saw him, took a few steps forward, leaned against the car window, and lifted up her coat to reveal her undulating breasts.
"It's you!" Lu Feng leaned back in his seat and said, "Didn't I tell you not to come? You're dressed so stylishly for the New Year, I almost didn't recognize you."
"You only remember me when you need me, and forget about me when you don't." Su Yourong straightened up, turned around, and asked, "How is it? Does it look good?"
"It looks great. I think it looks much better than those evening gowns you wear." Lu Feng looked her up and down. He had to admit that this outfit completely changed her aura.
"I thought you were too scared to come home today. I'm going back for the New Year, so of course I have to dress up nicely! Besides, I brought back several hundred thousand yuan in cash, which I distributed to the village. Everyone's praising me." Su Yourong had a hint of pride in her expression.
"I must praise you. How are your parents?" Lu Feng opened the car door and got out.
“They’re doing well. I gave my family a lot of money before, and they’ve been living quite well these past few days. My sixth sister even had a baby.” Su Yourong said to Lu Feng, “Where’s the house key? My legs are tired from standing here.”
Lu Feng took out his key from his pocket and opened the door. There were still some leftover food on the dining table. Du Guoying had only taken some dishes to the kitchen. The sofa was piled with clothes that Lu Feng had changed out of in the past two days, and the ashtray on the coffee table was full of cigarette butts.
"Such a nice house, and you've ruined it like this." Su Yourong shook her head at the sight before her and said, "A man without a woman by his side is no better than a pig."
"You should stay at a hotel. I'll hire a cleaning service to tidy up," Lu Feng said, sitting on the sofa. "I haven't been in the mood for this lately."
