At 7 p.m., as night fell and the city lights came on, the bustling city quieted down, and the sales data for Jiaxun pagers was compiled and laid out on the conference table.
Sales of 16,000 units are a respectable figure for a domestically produced pager, but with such overwhelming advertising, this number is somewhat disappointing.
Du Guoying and her team from Jiaxun's marketing department sat there silently. The meeting room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. They glanced at each other with their heads down, a feeling creeping into their hearts that they were about to lose their jobs.
"Are you all satisfied with the sales figures for the first day?" Lu Feng asked the group.
"President Lu, let's have a review meeting. We'll continue to strengthen our offline advertising efforts and discuss with our distributors about launching different promotions in various regions. Behind these sales figures is the backdrop of fierce market competition. Bird pagers are offering huge discounts, and all the major foreign brands are launching promotional activities today." Du Guoying sincerely admitted his mistake.
Du Guoying now somewhat agrees with Kevin's point of view: don't make things so tense with others; try to keep the conversation light and cheerful at the dinner table. Encountering such obvious targeting on the first day of listing is definitely going to offend people.
The entire industry is focused on one company, and being able to sell more than 10,000 units is really quite impressive.
"I think this data is very good, much higher than I expected!" Lu Feng saw that everyone looked apprehensive. If he were to give them a good scolding, they would be unable to sleep at night and would start thinking about quitting. They would be even less motivated to work the next day, since they were going to leave anyway.
"You've all worked hard these past few days. You're a new team, and you can't compare to the group's marketing department. I think you've done an excellent job. Tell me, which new team can achieve such results amidst the encirclement of top global companies? Only you have done it!" Lu Feng said to everyone in a deep voice, "What is this? This is the prototype of a tiger and wolf team!"
Everyone present was surprised. Their hunched shoulders slowly opened up, and they raised their heads with a hint of pride in their eyes. Thinking about it this way, they realized that they were not just awesome, they were absolutely awesome!
Everyone had a happy look on their faces, as if the busyness of the past few days had suddenly become less tiring.
"Foreign brands are a mountain, not something that can be overthrown in a short time, but the fact that we dare to push aside its base is a success in itself. So, everyone gets a bonus this month, and we'll have a celebration party tomorrow at noon!" Lu Feng said to everyone, "Alright, enough of the chit-chat, go back and rest!"
Cheers erupted from the crowd, completely dispelling the previous gloom. Lu Feng stood up, tidied his things, patted Du Guoying on the shoulder, and said, "Take care of the celebration arrangements."
Du Guoying sat there dumbfounded. President Lu actually wanted to celebrate this sales figure?
Jiaxun Technology was celebrating its success, and so was Watanabe Shi. In the three months since he joined the company, the market share, brand power, and sales data in Greater China had been rising rapidly. The group headquarters was celebrating his success and would be giving him stock options!
In a spacious room, Watanabe Shi sat at a table on a tatami mat. Two girls dressed in kimonos and with exquisite makeup knelt beside him, pouring him sake. The melody of the Japanese folk song was narrow and tinkling, giving off a petty and small-minded vibe.
There were seven or eight men sitting opposite him, all in their fifties. They were drinking and were very polite to Watanabe Shi, his subordinate.
"Mr. Watanabe, is there anything else you want after this stock split?" A bald man, holding a small wine glass, said, "Just name it. As long as it's within our power to do it, we'll apply to the board of directors for you."
"To be honest, I'm not so obsessed with money anymore, but there's one thing I have to say. This time in mainland China, we suppressed Jiafeng Electronics. I think we should take advantage of this momentum to crush it. First, suppress it in the communications field, then we can encourage Hong Kong investors to withdraw, and then acquire it. This company's assets are still relatively healthy and very attractive for investment!" Watanabe suggested.
The group exchanged glances, laughed heartily, raised their glasses, and said, "Let's drink!"
Motorola executives completely disregarded Watanabe's advice. It wasn't that they looked down on Jiafeng Electronics, but rather that they looked down on a market with an average revenue of several hundred US dollars per person.
"I still think we should take this company seriously," Watanabe said again after finishing his drink.
"Alright, alright, let's go back and discuss it. Do you have any other ideas?"
“I still want to be transferred to a more challenging position, the investment branch we set up on Wall Street. I think it’s more challenging there, and I’m personally very familiar with Wall Street. I believe I can help the company reach a new level.” Watanabe still wants to return to Wall Street. Of course, he feels that those things from back then are in the past, and with the combination of measures he just mentioned, Jiafeng Electronics is completely ruined.
"We will discuss this matter seriously!"
While drinking, no one talked about work anymore. The higher-ups would never let Watanabe Shi go to a finance position. He had already made achievements in overseas markets, and such a person should stay in this position to continue to increase the market share in Greater China.
There are far too many cases like this in the world. At first, no one cares, or even when the other party is standing right in front of you, you look down on the company. By the time the other party starts to grow, it's too late!
The following day, yesterday's news began to spread to cities below the third tier. Today's newspaper headlines were basically dominated by the four words "Jiang Lang has run out of ideas." Those who used to hate Lu Feng with a passion jumped out and started criticizing Jiafeng Electronics in every aspect!
