Both Mr. Feng and Zhenkun were worried about one thing: Lu Feng was too straightforward and didn't know his place, which might cause him to mess things up.
Judging from Lu Feng's current condition, it seems that his posture is still fine, which puts Zhenkun at ease a little.
The sixteen-hour flight passed quickly, and as the plane landed in New York, the people in the cabin cheered. The vast majority of them were of Chinese descent, and they sat in economy class looking out the windows, their expressions filled with excitement.
First-class passengers disembarked first. After getting off the plane, Lu Feng had to wait for the staff behind him, so he sat in the business van. It was 8 a.m. in the United States, and the sun had just risen.
As the economy class passengers disembarked, a man knelt down and kissed the concrete, exclaiming excitedly, "I've finally set foot on this land! I want to settle down here, live here, and realize my American dream!"
"Freedom permeates the air here! I love you, America!"
"The United States needs me, and I will work hard here. The United States is my honor now, and I will be the honor of the United States many years from now."
These people, some standing, some kneeling, were expressing their situation with agitated expressions and bizarre postures. It was a complete display of their ugly behavior, which made Lu Feng frown.
Feng Zhiyao rolled down the car window and asked Lu Feng, "Is this a tragedy for a country?"
"No! This is the tragedy of some lackeys." Lu Feng felt very uncomfortable. He knew that the American Dream was extremely important to many Chinese people, but he never expected it to turn out like this. However, it was not surprising that many years later, female students would still say that freedom was floating in the air.
"Times will change, and that will be the tragedy for these people. Things change every thirty years. Looking back in thirty years, they may regret their choices now."
"Let's not talk about this anymore; it's all a personal choice," Zhenkun said, cutting off the conversation.
Lu Feng didn't want to pay much attention to these things. He asked Feng Zhiyao to roll up the car window, and once everyone had arrived, they took the shuttle bus to the airport exit.
Upon exiting the airport, the car that was supposed to pick us up was already waiting. When we arrived at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, a group of people yawned as they checked in. They needed to adjust to the time difference, so they had to stay up until dark before they could sleep.
Zhenkun was too old to sleep on the plane, but Lu Feng and Feng Zhiyao managed to doze off for a while and were in relatively good condition.
Upon reaching the top of the stairs, Lu Feng noticed Zhenkun yawning and said, "Uncle Kun, the hotel offers jet lag adjustment services. Go get a massage, take a bath, and do some exercise. If you can't handle it this afternoon, just sleep. We can manage."
"Is this Lu Feng's first time here? Take a look around first, and we can discuss anything else tomorrow," Zhenkun instructed. "The arrangements here are mostly complete, so don't act alone."
"Don't worry, we'll just wander around aimlessly." Lu Feng looked obedient.
The other staff members also checked into their rooms. After returning to his room, Lu Feng first called the person in charge of the advance team and asked them to come over.
Half an hour later, a man in his twenties walked over with a man and a woman. The man in the elevator complained, "What kind of mess is this? President Lu keeps making me do things that are impossible."
"At least they let us do it, which means they still recognize our abilities."
"Bullshit, the company sent the three of us here just because the three of us in the business unit are the only ones who speak good English."
Once upstairs, the man rang the doorbell for Lu Feng's room. The door opened, and Lu Feng looked at the three of them and said, "Come in."
It wasn't easy to find the right people for this trip. At the very least, they needed to be good at English, familiar with the department, and have basic insights into the company's collaborative work.
After searching high and low, we finally found these three people. They were all new employees selected by the talent reserve center a year ago, and they were responsible for external reception and such in the business unit.
"Please sit down. What are your names?" Lu Feng asked the three of them.
"Mr. Lu, my name is Wang Yuanhe. I graduated from the School of Foreign Languages and am currently in the External Reception Group of the Business Unit," the leading man said.
“Mr. Lu, my name is Liu Yilong. I also majored in English and now work in the legal department,” another young man introduced himself.
"Hello, Mr. Lu, my name is An Jiahui. I also studied English and now work as a clerk in the president's office." The girl had a few freckles on her face and spoke timidly.
"Everything's fine, please sit down, don't be shy." Lu Feng sat down first and said, "I just got off the plane. You guys went ahead to check on things, how's it going?"
An Jiahui and Liu Yilong looked at Wang Yuanhe.
Although Wang Yuanhe was not happy about the difficulty of the work assignment, he still had to give a proper report to his boss. He said, "These prestigious universities, except for Columbia University in New York, are all in other cities. I called the reception offices of the universities and went there to say which company we are, but they probably weren't very happy."
“It’s normal to be a little reluctant. You have to work harder. There will definitely be difficulties at work. You have to learn to overcome them,” Lu Feng said.
The three of them thought to themselves, "You make it sound so easy." Liu Yilong felt that Lu Feng didn't realize how subtle his words were, and continued, "We couldn't get through by phone, so we went there in person. The person who received us was very polite, but their name started with F."
"And they started yelling at us from the office door all the way to the school gate." An Jiahui's eyes reddened as she spoke. "So many people were watching us. Some of the international students from China even called us a disgrace. Why are they yelling at us? We were just looking for collaborations..."
"Don't cry, don't cry!" Lu Feng quickly pulled out two pieces of paper and handed them over.
“We just felt that everyone was equal, and we were representing the company to talk to them, but they just started cursing at us. They said that this is a world-renowned university, and the way they insulted us was really nasty,” Liu Yilong said, head down.
