"Okay! I'll go change my clothes first," Lu Feng said, standing up.
Jennifer looked around and said, "Isn't it impolite to leave me alone in the hotel lounge?"
"Then I'll find someone to keep you company."
“No need, I’ll go to your room,” Jennifer said, standing up.
"This... isn't appropriate?" Lu Feng said, feigning modesty.
Jennifer was a little surprised. She really didn't expect a man to say such a thing to her. She paused for a moment and said, "This is the United States. Don't overthink it. We're just ordinary friends."
"Okay, being open is good." Lu Feng stood up with a smile and led her to his room.
Inside the room, Lu Feng changed his clothes. Jennifer complimented him on his good figure. Jennifer had originally planned for something to happen, but things didn't go as smoothly as she imagined. It seemed that Lu Feng's mind was only focused on tonight's banquet.
At three o'clock in the afternoon, two cars sped towards the manor where the banquet would be held. Inside the car, Lu Feng looked at Jennifer beside him and asked, "The beauties we're going to meet today are all daughters of important people. Why are they listening to Kelly?"
“Big shots also need certain things, like information. Nobody here wants to offend three groups: the military, the IRS, and them,” Jennifer explained.
Generally speaking, tax authorities are a formidable force. No matter who you are, if you don't pay taxes, not even the King of Heaven can save you. They can often accomplish things that people like Kelly can't.
Some important figures have questionable morals, so it's natural for them to curry favor with these organizations.
The car stopped at the entrance of the manor. The gate opened, and they sped inside. It was a rather old manor with a strong artistic atmosphere. After getting out of the car, Jennifer led Lu Feng upstairs.
The interior decoration on the third floor is quite rustic, with a European feel from the last century. A large solid wood table is set with tea and snacks, and seven or eight men and women are chatting together.
Among them was Chris, the president of Merrill Lynch that day.
Jennifer led Lu Feng into a room where several white girls were sitting. One of them was pretty and had an air of nobility in her every move. It was clear that she had grown up among the aristocracy to have such an air.
“Ivanka!” Jennifer walked in and complimented her, “You look even more beautiful than yesterday.”
“You look beautiful today!” Ivanka said with a smile.
"Let me introduce you. This is Mr. Lu Feng, the chairman of Jiafeng Group," Jennifer said.
“Hello!” Ivanka said, extending her hand.
After shaking hands, the two sat down and chatted casually. Ivanka didn't ask Lu Feng many questions; her job was simply to protect him at the banquet that evening.
As for what happened between Kelly and her group and him, she didn't want to know, nor was she interested in knowing. She was very clear about one thing: knowing too much wasn't necessarily a good thing.
At four o'clock, Ivanka went to change into her evening gown, and Lu Feng and Jennifer stood up and came out.
“Don’t think that just because they’re important people they’re hard to talk to. Sometimes it’s the opposite,” Jennifer said. “Are you hungry? There’s afternoon tea over there.”
"I'm fine!"
Lu Feng entered the room, while Wang Yuanhe and the other two waited outside. They had almost finished eating and drinking. Lu Feng went over to get some coffee.
Chris chatted happily with several women, talking about Lu Feng at the last dinner party, and said, "Let me tell you, that guy will be coming again tonight. You have no idea, he's as ridiculous as a monkey."
"Hahaha, really? Looks like there's going to be some fun tonight."
"It's better than a dull dinner, I'm definitely looking forward to it."
"Who isn't?"
Chris glanced back casually with a smile, and suddenly saw Lu Feng standing not far away drinking coffee. He exclaimed in surprise, "My God, he actually arrived early! Look, it's him!"
Seven or eight people turned around and stared at Lu Feng, their faces full of anticipation, as if a farce was about to unfold.
"Hey! He's drinking coffee. Do you think he's ever had coffee?" a middle-aged woman asked.
"Although he said he was very rich, I felt that there was no coffee in his country."
"Why don't you just ask?" Chris said, then walked over to Lu Feng and asked, "Kid, do you remember me?"
His face was full of mockery, and the contempt he exuded made one want to slap him. Lu Feng's displeasure was evident on his face as he said, "Of course I remember, Chris, the president of Merrill Lynch!"
