The news spread like wildfire, and rumors even began to circulate that Lu Feng was the future son-in-law of some important figure. The reason these companies reacted so abruptly was because of this crucial point.
The news spread widely, and countless people wanted to befriend Lu Feng. By 8 p.m., traffic was congested downstairs, and the lobby was packed with people.
Lu Feng was both amused and exasperated upon hearing this news. What was the difference between these people and those in China?
He was completely fooled by a rumor, but such a rumor is a good thing for Lu Feng. He just loves to watch the drama unfold.
The hotel was so crowded that it caused a commotion, forcing Lu Feng to leave from the back and find another hotel.
The following day, reports about Jiafeng Electronics began to flood the media. Newspapers such as The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Washington Post all reported on the company, some praising it and others criticizing it. The New York Times even gave Jiafeng Electronics a short article with the headline "A Clown from the East".
The contents are all true, but they are all negative news. They describe Lu Feng as a scoundrel who got to where he is today through speculation. The last paragraph even digs out what Lu Feng did in Hong Kong: creating and guiding public opinion, taking the opportunity to confuse the public, and selling inferior products at high prices. Mr. Lu has used this method countless times, and this time he is going to use it on Wall Street. However, the elites on Wall Street seem to have had their brains ripped out overnight, letting him lead them by the nose.
Lu Feng read through all the news newspapers early in the morning. These media outlets are quite capable; at least in terms of understanding the essence of the issues, they are not bad.
Capable people are quick to do good deeds, and when they start doing evil, they achieve twice the result with half the effort.
Around 8 a.m., Lu Feng was having breakfast in a private room at the restaurant. He was now a hot figure in the American capital world, the kind of person who became rich and famous overnight like in the movies!
Wang Yuanhe and his two companions were clearly not used to the fast pace of capital. Just a few days ago, they were practically begging those people on their knees, and now, these people are almost begging them on their knees.
Little did they know that in a few days they might have to kneel down and beg again.
"Liu Yilong, you only have one task now: keep a close eye on the European situation, stay in touch with Li Lin, and let me know as soon as you have any news. You two go and prepare the car; we'll go to Morgan's headquarters at ten o'clock. Oh, and contact the bodyguard company to find some bodyguards to come over," Lu Feng instructed.
The three of them hurriedly ate a bite of food and went about their own business. Lu Feng returned to his room, drew back the curtains, looked at the bustling streets below, and finally smiled, muttering, "The game has finally begun."
At 10:30, a stretched Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of Morgan's headquarters. A dozen muscular bodyguards in suits and sunglasses were scattered around, keeping a watchful eye on the area. A red carpet had already been laid out in front of Morgan, and a vice president was waiting with seven or eight investment managers.
The car door opened, and the shutters of cameras clicked all around. Lu Feng was dressed in an exquisite suit, looking exceptionally capable and incredibly handsome.
"Hello! This is Lu Feng from Jiafeng Electronics Group!" Lu Feng extended his hand to the other party.
"Welcome, Mr. Lu, Jack, Executive Vice President of Morgan Stanley Investment Group. Please come in." Jack, who looked to be in his fifties and wore dark-rimmed glasses, gestured for Lu Feng to come in.
The atmosphere at the scene was very lively. Lu Feng walked in surrounded by people, a scene witnessed by Lambert, who was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Goldman Sachs building.
The old man's blood pressure spiked for a moment!
Sitting back down at his desk, Lambert found documents detailing the events of the past few days laid out before him. He couldn't understand how Lu Feng, who had no connections or relatives here, could turn his life around in such a short time.
The documents on the table were rather messy. After analyzing them, there was no clear connection. It only mentioned that Lu Feng had attended two banquets, one of which was hosted by the CEO of United Capital and the other by the daughter of the CEO of Nokia. He boasted about himself and was laughed at. Then, as if by magic, he met Ivanka.
He knew Ivanka, and even if he didn't, just the name Eddie Lambert was enough to command respect from everyone in the world. The key issue was that it involved her privacy, so it wasn't a good idea to ask.
Lambert could conclude that Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley had no intention of investing in Jiafeng Electronics; they were simply cooperating with him to create hype, even though he didn't know what relationship Lu Feng had with Ivanka.
However, based on his many years of experience working in the upper echelons of the United States, he knew that even if someone had connections, they would never do so openly if they wanted to transfer benefits. He was very familiar with the rules of the game these people played.
Lambert pondered for a while, then suddenly laughed and muttered to himself, "Trying this game with me, passing the parcel like a musical chairs, and you want it to end up with me? That's interesting. Well, I'll play along and see how you handle this!"
Lambert had spent half his life on Wall Street and had seen it all. There were no underhanded schemes in front of him, only open and aboveboard tactics.
A dozen minutes later, there was a seminar about investing in Jiafeng Group. Lambert stood up and walked out. Today, he was going to suggest that the company compete with Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch for Lu Feng. It would be interesting if the three companies kept passing the buck and none of them invested.
Lu Feng and the vice president named Jack didn't have much to talk about. It was just the same old stuff: chatting for a bit, having lunch together, and everyone understood each other perfectly.
The atmosphere in the meeting room was somewhat serious. Lambert had a cup of coffee in front of him. He picked it up, took a sip, looked at the others, and said frankly, "This time I may have misjudged him. Things have come to this point, so why don't we talk to him too?"
