Of course, it's unlikely that they'll just smash things up without saying a word like before. They haven't paid Muzha yet, so even if Zhatai wants to ask Muzha for a favor, he definitely won't do it.
So he planned to try diplomacy first, then resort to force. If Lu Feng didn't want to settle things peacefully, he wouldn't mind smashing a few more stores, and if all else failed, he would find someone to break his legs.
At the end of the bar street, the place was packed with people, like a bustling market. Many young men were squatting on the side watching as cars arrived one after another, all belonging to big shots who had risen to fame in the underworld.
Several tables and chairs had been set up in front of both sides, and the talks would take place here tonight. The car headlights illuminated the area as if it were daytime.
A dozen minutes later, both sides had almost arrived, with three to four thousand people on site. Lu Feng's several hundred men, except for those guarding the venue, all came.
A Mercedes-Benz slowly drove up, and at that moment everyone's eyes were fixed on the car. A henchman opened the car door, and Lu Feng stepped out with one foot. Then he got out of the car, and everyone stared wide-eyed, wanting to see the tycoon's impressive appearance.
When they saw it was just one person wearing a masquerade mask, a chorus of disappointed boos erupted from the crowd. Pike, sitting there, scoffed, "Playing tricks!"
"Brother Hao, this way please!" The captain led the way.
Lu Feng sat down in the chair and looked at Parker across from him. This was the first time he had ever been to such an occasion, although he had seen plenty of them in old Hong Kong gangster movies.
"A tycoon, huh?" Parker sneered, puffing on his cigarette. "And a foreigner at that. What? You come here to work for us, bringing a translator with you?"
The captain stood aside and translated it.
"Holy crap, they actually have a translator!"
Laughter erupted all around; it was the first time they'd ever seen someone bring a translator along, quite a spectacle indeed.
Lu Feng lit a cigarette and asked, "How's the game going today? A civil or a military approach?"
Written? Martial?
Parker's group was amused. They were all in the same boat, why bother with such literary stuff?
"Of course we'll talk first. Even in this business, there's a reason. If you can't reason with me, don't blame me for being impolite. You're a foreigner, you probably don't know how many brothers are starving because of your shady dealings." Parker, with a cigarette between two fingers, pointed at Lu Feng and shouted, "You're ruining our livelihoods! Believe me, I'll make sure you die a horrible death!"
"I let them starve? Why are you questioning me instead of them? Don't you know the market principle of 'good money drives out bad'? Are they hardworking enough? Why are they unemployed? If they aren't hardworking enough, yet they earn the same as those who work hard, isn't that unfair to those who do?" Lu Feng stared at him and questioned, "Let me ask you, a hoodlum works incredibly hard, practicing his knife skills every day, strengthening his body, and ensuring the smooth operation of every establishment. He works under them, yet he's still in charge of security. Do you think that's fair?"
"I fucking..." Parker wanted to curse and start fighting, but he didn't know how to refute it.
“If I were that kind of person, I would never work for you. On the contrary, if I did nothing but drink in bars every day and hide in the back when I went out to fight, since there were so many people, no one would notice me. That kind of person is content to be a scoundrel among scoundrels. What will you do when your team starts to have problems?” Lu Feng stared at him and asked, “Do you think that’s fair?”
"That's not fair!" someone shouted from afar.
"Is this what I'm talking about right now? I'm saying you've taken over the place, and the brothers aren't eating," Pike roared, slamming his hand on the table.
"That's the same issue I was discussing. Why don't those people who can't make a living improve their competitiveness? Do you know how dissatisfied those bar and nightclub owners are with your service? Harassing customers, not paying for drinks, sometimes you not only fail to maintain order but also create more trouble." Lu Feng said to him, "When you lose your jobs, I hope you look for the problems within yourselves and improve your abilities!"
"So it's the brothers' fault, isn't it? What's wrong with drinking a little? We're here to make a living, okay?" Pike was amused by his words, wondering when he had become a waiter.
"Okay, so you guys are in this business, do you want money?"
"Nonsense, how can you buy things if you don't have money?" Parker cursed. "Can't you speak a few human words? That translator, make him speak a human word."
"Since you want money, then let's talk about productivity. You don't participate in production; you belong to the tertiary sector. Bars and nightclubs are your main sources of income. So let me ask you, when these places aren't doing well, who will pay you? You can easily say, 'We'll go to another place,' but do you think another place will let you go after hearing about your practices? Are you the only bunch of scoundrels in the world?"
“I think you need to improve your competitiveness. When you step down from your positions, you should see your shortcomings instead of asking me why I took your jobs, understand?” Lu Feng said righteously.
The surroundings were quiet as the thousands of people pondered the situation. It was indeed true: if bars and nightclubs didn't make money, they wouldn't have any.
"I'm not going to argue with you about this. I don't understand any of this. I only have one thing to say today: get out of here and let the brothers go back to their old place." Even Pike himself felt that he was being a bit unreasonable.
"You're welcome to come and have fun anytime, and you're welcome to spend money. We won't give it up because this is a job opportunity we got after earning the boss's approval through our abilities." Lu Feng looked at his underlings behind him and said, "I think you guys should think carefully about whether following a boss who is unwilling to learn and unwilling to try new things has a future. The tide of the times is rolling forward. Maybe one day being a slacker will become a sunset industry, and you won't make money anymore. What will you do then?"
