Zhang Fengxia had never seen such a shameless person, but because her mother liked him and her upbringing allowed her to directly kick him out, she had no choice but to endure it.
After washing some fruit, the family sat on the sofa chatting. The old man was quite interested in Lu Feng and said from the sofa, "Running a business is certainly good, you have money, but the risks are also high. If you can get into the system, I think you can achieve great things."
"Thank you, but I'm really not suitable. Besides, my business is doing quite well right now," Lu Feng replied.
"No matter how well you run a business, it's not as respectable as working within the system!" The old man finally spoke his mind; he now felt better about Lu Feng than about Awei.
Lu Feng seems to be a rather clever person, and considering what was said at the dinner table earlier, he's bound to have a bright future. It's just that his family background and education aren't great, but if he has a powerful backer, he still has a chance to move forward.
The old man's concept of private enterprises was still stuck in the 1970s and 80s. He believed that further development would be pointless. Although the country was indeed encouraging it, in his mind, state-owned enterprises came first, private enterprises second, and private enterprises third. He thought Lu Feng was rich, but he had no face in society.
Fengxia's father also thought Lu Feng was not bad, but he didn't show much enthusiasm. His education and family background were major drawbacks. If Lu Feng agreed to marry into the family, his family could consider it, but he said that he had some money from doing business, which wouldn't work for him.
He was also busy attracting investment. He knew those businessmen very well; they were rich today but destitute tomorrow, and most of them were involved in all sorts of messy things outside, leaving their families in chaos.
As for the multinational corporations that Lu Feng mentioned, they just thought it was bragging. They were more interested in state-owned enterprises. Although Jiafeng Electronics was making a lot of noise in the industry, the leaders might not have heard of it. They were always on inspection tours and didn't have much rest time throughout the year.
Ah Wei realized that there was no breakthrough with the old man, so he simply went to the kitchen to help cut fruit.
"You didn't even tell me she had a boyfriend. What kind of nonsense is this? Let me tell you, if it weren't for her family's official status, I would have left long ago," Awei muttered to his cousin, full of complaints.
"Say less. My aunt is quite satisfied with you. Perform well and make your family like you first, okay? This guy might just be someone they hired to fill in, so don't feel pressured," his cousin whispered to Awei, offering advice.
“Yeah, so young, no education, no family background, and yet he’s working for a multinational corporation?” Awei realized he’d been fooled and said, “I’ll expose him later. He’s just putting on an act in front of a returnee like me.”
"Awei, help me carry these things," Fengxia's mother called out.
"Coming!" Awei hurriedly went in, took the fruit plate from Fengxia's mother, and said, "You go and rest, I'll take care of things."
"No need, no need, please sit down! There's a nanny here."
At 3:30 pm, the sun was shining brightly. The family sat on the sofa chatting. Awei also sat down, picked up an apple, and handed it to Zhang Fengxia, saying, "Here, have this."
“This is my home, you don’t need to be so polite,” Zhang Fengxia said, staring at him.
"Fengxia!" Fengxia's mother said to her with a hint of anger.
"Mr. Lu, you said you own a multinational corporation? I've never heard of such a large company," my cousin asked first. "Are private enterprises in China this strong now? Aren't the big companies all state-owned enterprises that have undergone mixed-ownership reform?"
“I really haven’t heard of that. Most of the larger international companies, those with operations spanning multiple countries, are based in developed countries. We are indeed lacking in this area,” Awei continued. “When I worked at a European bank, I mainly dealt with companies on Wall Street.”
As Lu Feng watched the two of them talking back and forth, their words implying that they were questioning the authenticity of Lu Feng's company, Zhang Fengxia's mother, sitting to the side, also said, "We don't know anything about these companies."
"Mom! He's incredibly successful, you know!" Zhang Fengxia couldn't hold back any longer and said, "His company is huge, it must have over 100,000 employees now. I've known him for so many years, don't I know that?"
"Over 100,000 people?" My cousin glanced at the old man and Fengxia's father and said, "How old are you? You're from the village and don't have much education, yet you own a company with over 100,000 employees?"
My cousin hit the nail on the head. Even the old man started to have doubts. He was too young, yet his achievements were too great. Moreover, he had no education or background. If word got out, everyone would think he was a fraud.
"Fengxia, don't let anyone fool you," her cousin said bluntly.
Zhang Fengxia was so angry that she put her arms around herself on the sofa and refused to say anything.
"My experience has indeed been a bit bumpy, but the company is real. Can we go to the company?" This was the only way Lu Feng could prove it.
"I'll just ask you one question. Go to the Administration for Industry and Commerce and check if Jiafeng Electronics is yours. That'll tell you." My cousin said seriously.
"According to the business registration information, I am not the legal representative. Moreover, we are currently raising funds and are also working on shareholder changes because of equity transfer. I am not the major shareholder, and I may not be the actual controller either, but I have the operating rights," Lu Feng explained.
Ah Wei laughed when he heard this. It was obvious that Lu Feng had been dragged over to brag, and even the social analysis about Sanzhu Oral Liquid and local banks at the dinner table was probably memorized beforehand.
"So you're saying this company has nothing to do with you anymore? If that's the case, I can say tomorrow that I own the National Bank," Awei couldn't help but sneer.
Lu Feng could clearly sense that his family's attitude had cooled down. Zhang Fengxia was getting anxious and said to Lu Feng, "What are you doing? You can't even prove that the company is yours?"
