Jiang Xiaoyan came out of the kitchen with a furrowed brow and asked Lu Feng, "Are you out of your mind? You just got back, and you want me to whip you with a belt?"
"Why did you hit me?" Lu Feng said, somewhat amused and exasperated, "I hit this little bastard! He's so angry, he insists on going to Africa!"
“You’ve only been back for less than twenty minutes. When you came in, you were calling her your little darling. Why don’t you let her stay with you for two months during winter break?” Jiang Xiaoyan said to Lu Feng.
Lu Feng's decision was made on a whim. If he were to actually let Duo Duo follow him, he would probably be in a real bind within a week.
Jiang Xiaoyan noticed Lu Feng's embarrassment. She brought out a plate of reheated food from the kitchen, along with two steamed buns and a bowl of porridge, and placed them on the table, saying, "Just make do with this. You've already missed the first class, and you're making a fuss with me so early in the morning."
"Let's go to school first!" Lu Feng didn't even bother with eating and said to Duo Duo, "Put on your socks, come on, I'll take you there!"
"I'm not going!" Duoduo threw a tantrum, rolling around on the sofa.
"How old are you? Still giving me this crap? I'm working myself to the bone outside all day, and you come home and make me angry." Lu Feng grabbed her and asked, "Tell me, why don't you want to go?"
"I want to go to Africa to mine!!" Duoduo said with tears in her eyes, her determination unwavering.
"You son of a bitch! Put on your socks and go to school!" Lu Feng got angry too, grabbed the socks next to him and put them on her. The little girl kept trying to pull her feet back, crying and shouting.
"I think you're just asking for trouble. You're nothing special. And you, if you're going to buy a mine, just buy it. Why put it in her name? Why are you talking to her about all this? You've been acting like you're possessed lately." Jiang Xiaoyan got angry and pointed at Duoduo, shouting, "Cry! Try crying again!"
Duo Duo burst into tears, struggled to kick the socks out of Lu Feng's hand, and rolled on the ground in a rage.
"You're like a spinning top, you deserve a slap!" Jiang Xiaoyan pulled her up and slapped her back several times. Duoduo's face was red from crying, and she kept coughing, but she still cried as hard as she could.
"You're just going to drag this to school, I'll teach you a lesson!" Jiang Xiaoyan took the car keys from the side and handed them to Lu Feng, then dragged Duoduo toward the door.
“It’s because she’s spoiled. She even went to Africa to be a mine manager. Why doesn’t she go to Africa to fight tigers?” Lu Feng opened the door and shouted at her.
"No...Africa...cough cough...there are no tigers there!"
Duoduo was dragged out of the house. An older woman from upstairs came down and, seeing the family's commotion, asked, "Xiaoyan, are you hitting your child?"
"I'll teach this little bastard a lesson! He's infuriating!"
Lu Feng and Jiang Xiaoyan dragged and carried Duo Duo downstairs. Just as they were about to get her into the car, she started rolling around on the ground again. Although Lu Feng knew that even dogs would avoid a child this age, he hadn't expected her to be so difficult to handle. He lit a cigarette and looked at her helplessly, saying, "You like lying down, don't you? Then you can lie down."
"Get up!" Jiang Xiaoyan wasn't going to mince words with her. She took off her shoes and stared at her, saying, "One! Two!!"
Before he could even count to three, Duoduo got up and sat in the back seat. After all that fuss, it was almost nine o'clock. Lu Feng drove towards the school and asked Jiang Xiaoyan in the back seat, "Are you in a hurry to get to work?"
"The factory is basically stable now, with Fengxia keeping an eye on it." Jiang Xiaoyan sighed and said to Duoduo, "If you don't do well on your midterm exams, I'll settle accounts with you later."
Duoduo sat in the back row, sobbing and sniffling. Jiang Xiaoyan wiped her nose, clearly very angry.
Lu Feng was also angered. While in Hong Kong, he turned off the lights and missed his little baby. Less than two hours after returning, he returned to reality from his ideal state.
Seeing that Duo Duo's emotions had stabilized, Lu Feng told her to study hard and if she could get first place in the whole grade when she entered second grade, he would buy her two more mines and take her to Africa.
"Stop making empty promises to her. What if she causes trouble later?"
"Can you agree?" Lu Feng turned around and asked.
When Duoduo heard that he was also going to buy a mine for himself, he immediately beamed and said happily, "I want a gold mine. My classmate said gold mines are valuable."
Lu Feng and Jiang Xiaoyan couldn't help but laugh. This little guy had always been very persistent about money, so Lu Feng had no choice but to agree for now.
Upon arriving at the school, the security guard saw Lu Feng and immediately came out of the security room, holding a teacup in his hand, and said politely, "Mr. Lu, are you taking your child to school? It's a bit late today!"
“This child was being unruly and didn’t want to come to school. We just disciplined him and he’s quiet now. Does the teacher need to come and pick him up?” Lu Feng asked.
"It's alright, you can go in. It's the second period now, don't delay the children's class," the security guard said accommodatingly.
"Thank you!"
Lu Feng pulled Duo Duo inside. The school environment here was much better than most schools in China. The teaching building was a three-story villa, the playground was paved, and two rows of trees were planted around the school, all neatly arranged.
When they arrived at the classroom door, a class was in progress. Several children were peeking out furtively, and when they saw Duo Duo, they instantly cheered as if they had discovered a new continent, whispering to each other, "The mine manager is here."
"The mine manager actually came to teach the class."
"Quiet down!" the female teacher on the podium turned around and scolded.
"Teacher, Duoduo is here."
The teacher turned around and saw Lu Feng and Jiang Xiaoyan with Duo Duo at the door. She put down the chalk in her hand and was pleasantly surprised when she saw Lu Feng. She said, "What's wrong today? Are you in a bad mood? I was just about to call and ask."
"I'm sorry, I was in a bad mood early this morning and missed a class," Lu Feng said to the female teacher.
