Chapter 977 The Meeting Ends

Liu Cheng is nothing like Zhu Lidong. All he thinks about all day long is circuits. Zhu Lidong was showing off to him and kept talking about it.

After the first day's meeting ended, Liu Cheng had a simple meal with everyone. He couldn't hold back any longer. Zhu Lidong taught him that he had to flatter the leaders when necessary. The company no longer belonged to President Lu alone. He had to use some of the usual tricks.

"Mr. Lu...Mr. Lu." Liu Cheng walked up to Lu Feng with a wine glass in his hand and said awkwardly, "I'd like to toast you."

Lu Feng didn't think much of it when he saw his stammering, so he casually touched the cup and took a small sip.

"Are you free tonight? I'd like to treat you to a sauna and find a dozen or so young girls..."

An hour later, in Lu Feng's office, Liu Cheng and Zhu Lidong stood in front of the desk with their heads down, looking like two elementary school students. Zhu Lidong was cursing Liu Cheng to death in his heart. How could someone so old be so easily teased?

"How old are you two? Huh! Is your company a kindergarten? One is the president of the marketing department, and the other is the president of the R&D company. I didn't even have time to say it at the dinner party earlier." Lu Feng turned to Liu Cheng and said, "President Liu, how old are you? You believe everything he says?"

"What he said made perfect sense, and besides, he didn't mention the R&D company's budget at all." Liu Cheng said aggrievedly, "What he said was that he would take you to a sauna and find young girls, and I..."

Lu Feng was both annoyed and speechless. One executive was deceiving another executive. Wasn't Zhu Lidong just taking advantage of his lack of social skills and judgment?

"One dares to speak, the other dares to believe, and what's most frightening is that they even took action." Lu Feng scolded the two, "What kind of talk is this if the shareholders hear this? Aren't you ashamed?"

"I was just joking, I didn't expect President Liu to take it seriously," Zhu Lidong said, hanging his head.

"You know perfectly well that all he does all day is research and development, and you still tease him? You're in marketing, so what? When you're out there developing markets, do you also go to saunas and meet a dozen girls?" Lu Feng questioned.

"No, no, absolutely not!" Zhu Lidong waved his hands repeatedly and said, "I...I was wrong. I will get along well with my colleagues and love each other from now on."

Liu Cheng was furious. If this got out, it would be a laughing stock.

But he also knew that Zhu Lidong had truly inherited Lu Feng's skills in this area. In terms of interpersonal relationships, he was definitely the best in the entire company. He himself was different; he sometimes couldn't even manage those idiots in the R&D company.

"You're always looking for trouble, always stirring up trouble. Do you have nothing better to do? If you're so free, I'll send you on a business trip to Europe next year!" Lu Feng scolded.

Upon hearing this, Zhu Lidong immediately became anxious, raised his head, and said with a smile, "I can't do it. If I go to Europe, I'll ruin the company's future. This kind of thing is something you have to do. Even though I'm doing well in China, I can't compare to you. Besides, my English isn't good either."

Liu Cheng raised his head and said, "You can learn it!"

"Shut up, no one will think you're mute," Zhu Lidong said in a low voice.

"This kind of thing is not allowed to happen again. If it does, do you believe I'll issue a company-wide notice? You'll really embarrass yourself." Lu Feng said to Zhu Lidong, "You can leave now."

Zhu Lidong nodded and walked out the door, closing it behind him and letting out a huge sigh of relief. He really hadn't expected that Liu Cheng, such a grown man, could actually do something like this.

"Isn't that stupid?"

He muttered something to himself and hurried off work.

Lu Feng looked at Liu Cheng, his anger subsided by half, and said, "Sit down. I didn't mention the R&D company's budget because it was increased at the last minute. I plan to increase this year's R&D budget to one billion US dollars. Since it's temporary, it needs a board resolution later, so I didn't mention it!"

A billion dollars, or US dollars?

Liu Cheng looked up, his eyes filled with disbelief. How was he supposed to spend ten billion?

"President Lu, isn't one billion too much?" Liu Cheng knew in his heart that with so much money, there would be a lot of work to be done. With so much money invested, next year's tasks would definitely be heavy.

“How much? Every penny counts. Once the approval is granted, I hope you achieve great results this year. At the very least, we should be more assertive in the international business world.” Lu Feng looked at him and said, “Alright, don’t tell anyone about this, including those within the group. You can go back now.”

After Liu Cheng left, Lu Feng sat down and let out a long sigh. The next two years were destined to be two turbulent years, and it would be necessary to go out for a stroll during the New Year to relax.

After a quick wash, Lu Feng went to rest.

John called senior executives at Schroders that evening for a conference call and discussed the matter with senior British officials.

"Currently, investment in integrated circuits is very promising. The question is, once the results are achieved, whose company will it be?" asked the UK Department for Science and Technology on the other end of the phone.

"I think it should belong to us, since we paid for it!"

"I think this is like a woman giving birth; first, you need to make sure the child is yours."

John couldn't help but laugh and said into the phone, "We are currently the largest shareholder; you could say we have absolute control!"

"That's good. In terms of high-end manufacturing, the whole of Europe doesn't really want to clash with the United States. If he can succeed, it will be a good thing for us."

"Okay, I know what to do."

The phone call lasted for over an hour. After assessing the potential of Jiafeng Electronics in integrated circuits from various parties, they believed that Jiafeng Electronics should be allowed to invest two billion US dollars to explore the market. At the same time, a balance should be struck in the company's development, so that it doesn't end up as just a research and development company and lose the market.
