The police officers had never heard such arrogant words before. When they asked him about related matters, he spouted strange terms like leverage, financial bridging, lending, and financing, which left them completely bewildered.
He kept saying he wanted to eat after a while, so when it was almost noon, we locked him inside.
Lu Feng walked in front, followed by two elderly men pushing a cart with two insulated buckets and some bowls and chopsticks on it, and an elderly woman holding a spoon in her hand.
Lu Feng saw that the people inside had been in various positions, some squatting, some lying down, and some chatting. When they saw this aunt, they all stood up.
"Auntie, this is my first day here, please give me a generous meal." Lu Feng turned around, grinned, and flattered her, "Look how beautiful you are."
"Stop talking nonsense, are you planning to live here for the rest of your life? Go inside."
A door opened, and Lu Feng was pushed inside. The others were already lined up and waiting. There were police officers on the side shouting at everyone to line up, or they wouldn't get any food.
Lu Feng stood at the last spot and glanced around. There were eleven people locked up in the room. Some of them had dragon and tiger tattoos on them and looked fierce, while others had shifty eyes. All of them were looking Lu Feng up and down.
The food was very ordinary: stewed potatoes and cabbage, and two steamed buns per person. Everyone squatted on the ground with their bowls in hand, wolfing down their food. Lu Feng had heard some stories about the detention center, but he really didn't know if they were true or not.
I heard that fighting is common, and petty thieves are more likely to be bullied, while the big shots have it much easier. Lu Feng is of average build among this group, and next to him is a man who is about 1.6 meters tall and looks to be in his thirties.
"Hey, what brought you in here?" a tattooed man across from me asked.
"Me?" Lu Feng thought for a moment and said, "It's nothing much, I just killed a few people."
Everyone present looked up at Lu Feng, their eyes wide with disbelief!
"And you?" the tattooed man asked the shorter man next to Lu Feng.
"I'm a murderer too, I've killed more than a dozen people." The man said, his face clearly showing tension.
"Brother, your accent sounds like you're from Guangdong? You're a guy from Guangdong, yet you went to Shanxi and killed over a dozen people?"
"Are you guys from some kind of gang? I have powerful backers, so don't mess around!"
"Don't give me that crap, who are you trying to fool? You two sleep next to chamber pots at night, you know that?" The man pointed to the tattooed man next to him and said, "This is your Brother Long, and I'm Brother Tiger. In this room, you have to listen to us, understand?"
"I understand, I understand!" the older brother nodded hurriedly.
Lu Feng leaned against the wall without saying a word. The auntie who had been serving the food came over and called out, "Time to hand over your rice bowl!"
.........
In the afternoon, a swarm of local reporters besieged Jiaming Foods' factory, and the phones in every office were ringing off the hook. Gao Zhiwei immediately wanted to call Johnnie To, but after discussing it, they decided that this matter would have a very negative impact on the factory, so they would suppress it for the time being.
At 3 p.m., Johnnie To and Gao Zhiwei met with reporters separately at two different locations. They responded to the rumors circulating that the CEO of Jiaming Foods had been detained for suspected speculation and profiteering, stating that it was a rumor and that the CEO was currently on vacation. They also reserved legal rights regarding such matters and would not let any individuals or companies that maliciously spread rumors and slander get away with it.
The matter was widely publicized. Some said that Jiaming Foods couldn't withstand the pressure, while others said that the two companies were going head-to-head, and Jiaming Foods' arms weren't strong enough, so it got dragged into trouble.
Upon receiving the news, Jiang Xiaoyan rushed to the factory immediately. She pushed open the door to Gao Zhiwei's office, but found him not there. She then turned around and went to the conference room to look for him.
The door was suddenly pushed open, and everyone in the meeting room froze. Jiang Xiaoyan asked, "Did something happen to Lu Feng?"
"No, Mr. Lu is fine." Gao Zhiwei hurriedly stood up and said, "You guys take a look at the documents first, I'll be back in a bit."
As they exited the conference room, Jiang Xiaoyan nervously said from a corner, "My friend just called me and said he's been arrested, and it's very serious. They say he's going to be executed."
Jiang Xiaoyan started crying as she spoke, and asked, "I called him and paged him, but he didn't answer. Are you sure he's alright?"
"Don't listen to your friend's nonsense. It's not like he'll be executed. He's definitely been detained, and we're still trying to figure things out, but it's not a big problem. He'll be out in a few days. We're making calls and contacting people everywhere..."
Before Gao Zhiwei could finish speaking, Jiang Xiaoyan was already sobbing uncontrollably, crying, "What should I do? He's finished, how am I supposed to live?"
"Don't cry, it's alright, nothing will happen. What hasn't President Lu seen? Secretary Zhang is over there. Secretary Zhang isn't an ordinary person. Even if nothing happens, she can come out with just one phone call," Gao Zhiwei comforted him.
Gao Zhiwei was afraid that the people in the factory would see this, as people were already a bit restless. He comforted her for a while and told her to go home first, and that he would notify her immediately if anything happened.
Gao Zhiwei's first priority was to ensure that production and sales were not interrupted and the market was not affected, maintaining the shipment volume. Secondly, he contacted all possible relationships to find out the nature of Lu Feng's matter, and even called Huang Youwei.
Huang Youwei was amused to hear that Lu Feng had been arrested, but told Gao Zhiwei that it was only a matter of time before he was arrested. Whether he could be released was neither up to him nor up to him. He had been made an example of someone, and not only Gao Zhiwei was watching, but many companies, including some foreign companies, were also watching.
Inside the Wahaha office, much had already been discussed regarding recent market performance, and the meeting was drawing to a close. A senior executive spoke up: "President Zong, Lu Feng of Jiaming Foods has been detained. We hear it's for speculation and profiteering. Should we give him a push?"
