Chapter 22: A Warning from a Short Article

When Feng Haidong was at the factory, he and Tang Anguo were researching how to design and manufacture a trolley for doing business.

His article on "Teacher Ethics" has finally been published.

In an era before smartphones and widespread internet access, people relied heavily on newspapers and magazines for information, in addition to television.

Local daily newspapers have become the first choice for many people to obtain information.

Most organizations also subscribe to newspapers.

After arriving at school in the morning and taking care of some matters, Principal Wang, as usual, sat in his office and read today's newspaper after the students started class.

First, I looked at the newspaper for news about current affairs to see if there was any domestic or international news.

Only then did he begin to look at the other sections of the newspaper.

As he flipped through the pages, the two large characters "Teacher Ethics" suddenly came into Principal Wang's view.

Upon seeing those two words, Principal Wang's heart skipped a beat almost instantly, and he immediately thought of Feng Haidong.

"Could it be such a coincidence? Or is he really writing about his son, and what's the meaning behind using such a title? Is he trying to use this as a pretext for something else?"

With a somewhat apprehensive feeling, Principal Wang carefully read the article in the newspaper.

Upon seeing that the author was indeed "Feng Haidong," Principal Wang immediately wore a wry smile.

"It really was written by him?"

Principal Wang never expected that Feng Haidong would actually keep his word and write an article immediately after saying he would frequently publish articles in the newspaper.

Moreover, judging from the title, it is clear that it refers directly to what her son encountered at school.

Principal Wang couldn't help but sigh, "This is really a parent you shouldn't mess with."

There are still many people reading the newspaper. Even if the article doesn't name names, locals who read it will easily associate it with teachers from various local schools.

Principal Wang felt increasingly frustrated, but he still forced himself to read the article in the newspaper carefully.

Upon first reading the opening, Principal Wang's expression was naturally one of helplessness and solemnity.

The article begins by criticizing current affairs, directly pointing out that some school teachers are accepting gifts from students' parents in private, and that some teachers are running extracurricular tutoring classes.

Fortunately, the article did not criticize this; it simply stated these things.

Finally, Principal Wang saw the article about the broken tiles in the classroom corridor of Feng Haidong's son.

From the beginning, he looked solemn, but later, Principal Wang's furrowed brows relaxed.

Then Principal Wang's expression became somewhat complicated.

After carefully reading the article, Principal Wang held the newspaper and couldn't help but mutter to himself, "What exactly does this parent, Feng Haidong, mean? He actually rewrote the events, portraying Teacher Yan as a model of professional ethics, and even praised her at the end?"

Principal Wang never expected that Feng Haidong would write in his article that Teacher Yan took the initiative to investigate the matter, not only corrected his own mistakes, but even took the initiative to apologize to the students.

With this rewriting, Teacher Yan was transformed into a good teacher who dared to admit her mistakes and possessed noble sentiments and professional ethics.

Principal Wang held the newspaper in his hands, his expression quite complicated.

"Feng Haidong is a really amazing parent."

Principal Wang also figured out the essence of this article.

Feng Haidong did not intend to criticize any teacher with this article. He was actually using a seemingly humorous style to simply state the facts, and at the same time, he was using this article to sound an alarm for the education sector.

Principal Wang read the article again, and she had to admit that Feng Haidong's writing was indeed very impressive.

The key is that even people who haven't experienced it will find this article very interesting.

He didn't write in a critical style; rather, he told the story like a storyteller, using humorous and interesting words.

It reads very smoothly and leaves you with something to think about after you finish reading it.

In the current context, is it right or wrong for teachers to do that?

And what exactly is teacher ethics?

What should a teacher with professional ethics look like?

Guiding people to reflect on the article themselves after reading it is clearly more effective than direct criticism and preaching in making a lasting impression.

After reading it a second time, Principal Wang couldn't help but exclaim, "I never expected there to be parents like this!"

After two classes at school, Teacher Yan was finally able to rest in her office.

Two classes in a row in the morning also made him feel a bit tired.

However, not long after he sat down, a colleague at the next table quietly leaned over to him and said, "Teacher Yan, have you read today's newspaper?"

Teacher Yan turned her head and asked curiously, "Reading the newspaper? I had two classes in a row this morning, and I just sat down?"

The teacher immediately handed him the newspaper and said, "Teacher Yan, take a look at this article in the newspaper. It seems to be talking about you."

Teacher Yan took the newspaper and immediately noticed the two prominent words "Teacher Ethics" on it.

Then I saw the subheadings and the author's name.

Teacher Yan couldn't help but exclaim in surprise: "Feng Haidong? Feng Qifan's father wrote this?"

The teacher who handed him the newspaper simply said, "Teacher Yan, don't get excited. Take a look at the article first. Actually, I think it's quite well written."

Teacher Yan then began to read the article.

As Teacher Yan read the beginning, he became increasingly annoyed. He could clearly feel that the humorous and sarcastic words in the article were like slaps to his face.

Later on, Teacher Yan gripped the newspaper very tightly, as if she wanted to tear it to shreds.
