The day after Feng Haidong returned home, he took a bus back to town by himself.
Back in town, he first went to the riverside market and took a look at Feng Baoan's shop.
It must be said that Feng Baoan's shop was really bustling with people in the morning.
Feng Haidong didn't rush in to say hello, but stood at the door and listened attentively for a while.
To Feng Haidong's surprise, the people gathered at Feng Baoan's shop were no longer the large groups who came to sell shrimp as before; instead, many of them came specifically to buy crayfish.
Most of them are owners of local seafood markets.
Some of them are obviously not locals just by their accents.
After observing for a period of time, Feng Haidong quickly confirmed that some of them had come specifically from neighboring cities.
Seeing that there were quite a few people, Feng Haidong started chatting with the few who hadn't been able to get in.
When Feng Haidong took the initiative to strike up a conversation with them, the group of people became somewhat wary of him.
One of the people, who seemed to be from out of town, asked, "Are you here to buy crayfish too? Where are you from?"
Feng Haidong thought for a moment, then chuckled and replied in the provincial capital's accent, "I'm from the provincial capital."
This startled several people.
"From the provincial capital? Do they all get their crayfish from here now?"
"Of course, I heard that there are special trucks that deliver goods from here to the provincial capital every day."
"Yes, yes, I've heard that too, and actually, crayfish first became popular in the provincial capital."
"Come on, the crayfish craze started in a few cities in the east, and it first became popular in other provinces before it spread to us."
"I heard that a long time ago, many people in Nanjing ate this."
"Yes, it started becoming popular there a long time ago."
Listening to what the group was saying, Feng Haidong continued, "It's very popular in the provincial capital now, and many stores have opened, but only one is doing the best business."
Immediately someone chimed in, "That's right, I've eaten there. It's right across from the pedestrian street in the provincial capital. That place is really popular. I went on a weekend, and the line outside stretched for miles. And their crayfish is really delicious. I've never tasted anything like it anywhere else."
Immediately afterward, someone said, "It doesn't matter if the taste isn't as good as theirs. Anyway, not many people in our area have actually tasted the flavor of that restaurant in the provincial capital. We can just get ahead of the curve by bringing in crayfish and open up the market."
"That's right, bro, we're on the same page."
"That's right, so I specifically inquired for a long time and heard that there are crayfish sold in this town, so I came here as soon as possible."
"I've heard that almost all the crayfish in this city are sourced from here."
"I heard that the provincial capital gets its goods from here, so I came here specifically."
As Feng Haidong listened to the group's lively discussion, he couldn't help but feel that he had indeed been too focused on the business in the provincial capital store, and had therefore neglected many things.
It seems that crayfish have already gained a good reputation within the province.
So when people from neighboring cities heard about it, they all rushed to the town to buy crayfish.
Feng Haidong couldn't help but worry: would the crayfish farming in his hometown be running out of stock?
With that thought in mind, Feng Haidong decided not to enter Feng Baoan's shop and turned to leave.
After Feng Haidong had left for a while, the people at the door didn't notice him anymore. Obviously, everyone's attention was still inside the shop, and they wanted to quickly make arrangements to purchase crayfish.
After leaving Feng Baoan's shop, Feng Haidong hailed a three-wheeled vehicle at the street corner and headed towards his brother-in-law's village.
Upon arriving at his brother-in-law's village, Feng Haidong didn't enter the village but went directly to his brother-in-law's shrimp pond.
When Feng Haidong arrived at the shrimp pond, he saw his brother-in-law and Liang Cong busy at work.
"Brother-in-law, Xiao Liang, are you both busy?"
Upon hearing Feng Haidong's shout, Fang Jianxing and Liang Cong turned around to look.
Upon seeing that it was Feng Haidong returning, the two of them quickly greeted him with smiles.
Fang Jianxing said, "Haidong, why are you back today?"
Feng Haidong said, "I heard that the crayfish farming here is quite large, so I came back to check and help find sales channels."
Fang Jianxing immediately said, "It must have been Fang Hongwei who told you, right? I even told him not to tell you."
Feng Haidong said, "Brother-in-law, this is not right. I asked you to do the crayfish farming. How could you keep such a big thing from me? If the crayfish don't sell well, and you can't sell all these crayfish, won't you lose money? I can't just ignore it."
Liang Cong said from the side, "Brother Haidong, actually, there was enough for my brother-in-law's side, but then Feng Village also started raising them, and now it's peak season for red swamp crayfish, so there are suddenly too many crayfish. Brother Haidong, your two shops and the seafood market can't handle them all."
Feng Haidong nodded and said, "I know. I had this in mind when I asked Feng Village to raise shrimp together, which is why I asked Hongwei to deliver shrimp to the other stores in the provincial capital."
Fang Jianxing said, "I heard from Hongwei that although the stores in the provincial capital all buy shrimp from us and ask him to deliver them, the other stores use too little and consume very little every day. Some stores may not need to deliver to us for many days after one delivery."
Feng Haidong also understood that there seemed to be quite a few restaurants serving crayfish in the provincial capital, and more and more people were eating crayfish.
But in reality, not many people eat it, and crayfish has not yet become a top-tier food.
