Lu Wanling, with her son, and Mei Yaqin, with her daughter, sat in the back of the van, while Feng Haidong naturally sat in the front passenger seat.
After getting into the car, Liu Jianwu greeted Feng Haidong with a smile: "Haidong, I didn't realize you were so photogenic."
Feng Haidong chuckled and said, "Brother-in-law, you saw it too? I really ran into it by accident. I wasn't prepared at all, and the TV station filmed it."
Liu Jianwu said, "It's great. We didn't prepare anything special, but that's actually a good thing."
Feng Haidong added, "I'm so grateful to my brother-in-law for coming all this way to celebrate Fanfan's birthday. Thank you so much!"
Liu Jianwu smiled and said, "There's no need for us two families in Haidong to be so polite."
Mei Yaqin chimed in from behind, "Yes, yes, there's no need for such formalities between our two families."
Liu Jianwu told Feng Haidong to fasten his seatbelt, and then said to everyone, "Alright, everyone, are you all seated? We're off."
Feng Qifan was the happiest because not only his parents, but also his Aunt Mei's family came to celebrate his birthday. His aunt's husband even lent him a car, which made Feng Qifan extremely happy and also a little proud.
Upon hearing Liu Jianwu say they were setting off, Feng Qifan couldn't help but shout, "Let's go! Let's go for a picnic in the park!"
The car started, and Mei Yaqin and Lu Wanling chatted in the back as they drove.
Feng Haidong and Liu Jianwu, who was driving, also chatted from time to time.
Feng Qifan, who was sitting in the back row with her, was still a little nervous looking at the older sister next to him.
After the car had driven for a while, Liu Ting took the initiative to move closer to Feng Qifan and started chatting with him in a low voice.
"Feng Qifan, did you really write that article that was published in the newspaper?"
Feng Qifan was a little nervous and even a little distracted because he was sitting next to Liu Ting.
Hearing Liu Ting speak up, Feng Qifan was taken aback for a moment, then quickly replied, "Yes, I wrote it myself."
After answering eagerly, Feng Qifan looked at Liu Ting seriously and said, "Sister Tingting, that composition was about my trip back to my grandparents' house with my dad, and then going to the village with my grandpa. I saw a lot of scenery with my own eyes. I wrote it when I went back to my grandpa's house that night."
After listening, Liu Ting asked, "Did your father revise it for you?"
Without hesitation, Feng Qifan said, "I showed it to my grandpa and dad, and they both said I wrote it very well. My dad corrected some of my spelling mistakes and corrected some of my idiom usage, but he didn't change the rest because my grandpa said it didn't need to be changed."
Liu Ting was immediately surprised. She had thought that Feng Qifan was only in the third grade and was still a little kid. How could he possibly write such a good composition?
Liu Ting always felt that Feng Qifan's essay was definitely revised by his father, or even written by his father, and then his name was put on it when it was submitted to the newspaper.
But now, hearing Feng Qifan say this, Liu Ting really didn't expect that the essay was actually written by Feng Qifan himself.
Liu Ting thought for a moment and asked, "Feng Qifan, how come you write so well?"
Feng Qifan felt a little embarrassed when asked that question.
He scratched the back of his head and said, "Actually, I don't really know. I just went back to the village with my grandpa and dad. I saw the scenery in the village, and then I went to play in the fields with Grandpa Bao'an and my uncle to catch crayfish. When we went back to Grandpa's house, I wanted to write an essay, so I wrote it."
Liu Ting was speechless. In her mind, how could writing such an essay be so simple?
As a girl who loves literature, Liu Ting has even studied writing.
The writing books she read all said that writing should first establish a theme, then construct a framework, then fill in the content, and finally use beautiful words and sentences.
In Liu Ting's mind, these rules are essential for writing a good article.
Therefore, Liu Ting always takes these rules very seriously when she writes.
Hearing Feng Qifan's words now, Liu Ting couldn't help but feel somewhat overwhelmed.
How could an article I wrote diligently and consistently following the rules be inferior to a child's composition?
Liu Ting felt very resentful, thinking that Feng Qifan must be hiding something from her.
However, Liu Ting asked Feng Qifan a few more questions and found that she couldn't get any information out of him, so she decided not to ask Feng Qifan anymore and instead planned to ask Feng Haidong after they arrived at the park.
Lu Wanling and Mei Yaqin, sitting in the row in front of the children, were also chatting happily.
Mei Yaqin kept praising Lu Wanling's husband and son in front of her.
"Wanling, your family has suddenly produced two stars. Haidong and Fanfan have both been on TV, and they'll be famous very soon."
Lu Wanling laughed and said, "There's no such thing as being famous or not. They were only in the news for a short time, and the images were just fleeting. I don't think they'll become famous."
Mei Yaqin said, "How could I not be famous? Of course, many people will notice me."
Lu Wanling said, "I really should have taken the day off; maybe I could have even been on TV together."
Mei Yaqin laughed and said, "Yes, yes, you should have asked Lao Ding for leave that day, or given me the task of going to the bank. You could have just told me."
Lu Wanling chuckled and said, "I just forgot. It's the last day of the month, and I've already made arrangements with the bank. It wouldn't be good if I didn't go."
