Li Keyong put on his clothes, sat on the bed smoking, and stared blankly at the clock on the wall.
This traffic accident was terrible.
The van turned into bread slices, and Li Lei turned into a sandwich cookie.
"If I had gotten into Li Lei's car last night, I'd be dead by now."
Thinking of this, Li Keyong broke out in a cold sweat again.
He quickly lit another cigarette to calm his nerves.
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
He paused for two seconds, got out of bed, walked to the door, and looked out through the peephole. It was his colleague, Feng Lin.
Li Keyong opened the door.
Feng Lin walked in, and the two looked at each other without saying a word.
Although Feng Lin was drunk last night, his mind was clear.
So he clearly remembered that Li Ke hailed a taxi and got the drunk brothers into it.
They were sent home one by one, one by one.
"Brother Keyong, thank you!" Feng Lin took out a hundred yuan. "Take this, go to the store and buy some meat to offer incense at our ancestral graves."
If someone survives a great calamity, people in the provincial capital will believe it is a miracle from their ancestors and will commemorate them with wine and meat.
"Brother Feng, don't joke with me." Li Keyong waved his hand in refusal.
A moment later, he said, "Brother Feng, actually it was my niece's boyfriend who reminded me. He said, 'Don't drink and drive.'"
"Your niece's boyfriend? No way?" Feng Lin was stunned. "I remember, she's not that old, is she?"
“You’re eighteen this year, not young anymore,” Li Keyong said.
He is seventeen years old in real age and eighteen years old in traditional Chinese age.
At this point, Li Keyong smiled wryly, "Her boyfriend is from Ping'an County. My brother just called me and asked me to pick up my niece."
Feng Lin scratched his head. "Is your niece's boyfriend the young man riding the motorcycle tricycle that we saw on duty yesterday?"
“Yes, it’s him.” Li Keyong smiled wryly. “He runs a stationery business, has already bought a house in Wenxin Garden, and is still a high school student.”
"What did you say?" Feng Lin was completely dumbfounded.
How can a mere high school student both run a business and own a house?
Li Keyong nodded, pulled up a stool for Feng Lin to sit down, and began to recount Wang Peng's story of struggle.
Feng Lin was increasingly shocked as he listened, and finally stared in disbelief.
"This kid is amazing," he said. "I'll take a leave of absence, and we'll go to Ping'an County together, just to get away and relax."
After such a serious traffic accident last night, he wanted to go out for a walk to clear his head.
Just then, the phone rang.
Li Keyong answered the phone.
Two minutes later, he hung up the phone.
"Old Feng, the captain wants us to return to the team and explain the situation. Let's go," Li Keyong said.
Feng Lin nodded. Such a big matter definitely requires a written explanation.
Ping'an County.
Li Mingzhu sat in the courtyard and picked up her brush to draw the old locust tree in the yard.
The phone rang, and she hurriedly went back inside to answer it.
"Hello, this is Wang Peng Stationery Wholesale."
"Xiguan Han Hui Store, send me a box of pencils and three boxes of erasers."
"Please wait a moment, ma'am, I'll make a note of it and deliver it to you right away."
Li Mingzhu clipped the microphone to her neck, quickly pulled out a notebook from her pocket, and wrote down the store names and a list.
"Is Wang Peng home?" Han Hui asked.
“He’s not here; he’s out in the countryside doing business,” Li Mingzhu replied.
"Okay, I'll deliver it now. The customer is waiting for it." Han Hui hung up the phone.
Li Mingzhu hurriedly prepared the goods, tied them to her bicycle, and rode out the door.
Being unfamiliar with the area, I asked for directions while riding my bike.
"Excuse me, sir, where is Huangyang Road?" she asked a middle-aged man after parking her car.
"Go north at that intersection ahead, and you'll reach Huangyang Road," the uncle told him.
"Thank you, uncle." Li Mingzhu continued riding her bicycle.
Half an hour later, we finally arrived at Han Hui's convenience store and met the owner, Han Hui.
"Sister Han, it's ten yuan in total." She handed the list to Han Hui.
"Little sister, what's your relationship with Wang Peng?" Han Hui asked with a smile.
"I am his girlfriend, his marriage partner," Li Mingzhu readily admitted.
"Wow, they really are a perfect couple." Han Hui laughed and opened the drawer to give her ten yuan.
The two chatted for a few more minutes before Li Mingzhu rode her bicycle home.
The sun was scorching, and she was sweating profusely.
Passing by a small shop selling cold drinks, she hesitated for two seconds, but ultimately couldn't bring herself to spend the money.
When I got home, I drank a glass of water to quench my thirst.
I checked the caller ID record on the phone to confirm that no new calls came in during the time I was out making deliveries.
I looked at the clock on the wall; it was already two in the afternoon.
She moved a stool to the outside of the courtyard wall to admire the rapeseed field next to her.
Vast fields of rapeseed flowers, their fragrance filling the air, bees flitting about, create a breathtaking scene.
"So beautiful."
Li Mingzhu immediately unfolded her easel and began to depict the rapeseed flowers in front of her.
Just then, the sound of a motorcycle came from behind.
Li Mingzhu turned around and saw Wang Peng returning on his motorcycle.
"Brother Peng." Li Mingzhu put down her drawing board and ran to the motorcycle.
Early this morning, Wang Peng went to the countryside to run business, his car loaded with stationery such as ballpoint pens, notebooks, and set squares.
At this moment, the car was completely empty.
Li Mingzhu was very happy and asked with a smile, "Brother Peng, have we sold out of our goods?"
"Sold out," Wang Peng said with a smile. "We sourced our goods from a stationery factory; they're high-quality and inexpensive, so we're sure to sell them."
"Impressive!" Li Mingzhu gave him a thumbs up and poked his wallet. "How much money did you make?"
"I haven't calculated it carefully, but I probably earn about a hundred yuan," Wang Peng said, scratching his head. "The key is to establish cooperative relationships with the small shops in the countryside."
