Wang Peng took the Li family of three to a hotel near the train station.
"Xiao Peng, don't you have a telephone in your shop?" Li Longfei asked.
Wang Peng shook his head. "It's too expensive. The initial installation fee is five thousand yuan, which is outrageously expensive."
"So expensive?" Li Longfei was startled and said, "But you're in the liquor business, not installing a telephone will affect your business."
"Brother, let's go to Uncle's house."
Li Mingzhu said, "Let my uncle move the phone from his home to our shop. We'll just give him some money."
"Forget it, I don't want to trouble others," Wang Peng said.
“Brother Peng.” Li Mengjiao waved her hand and smiled slightly, “I’ll write to you with my address when I get to school.”
Wang Peng couldn't refuse, so he nodded and said, "Uncle Li, Aunt Li, we'll be going now."
The two said goodbye at the hotel entrance.
Wang Peng drove back to the tobacco and alcohol shop and noticed out of the corner of his eye that his girlfriend looked unhappy.
"Don't worry about it, nothing will happen between us."
Li Mingzhu shook her head. "I believe you, but I don't believe her. Judging from her appearance, she'll definitely keep bothering you."
"And Zhang Ling from the student council is no pushover either; she deliberately tries to sow discord among us."
At this point, Li Mingzhu began to recount Zhang Ling's false accusations.
After hearing this, Wang Peng sneered, "She's after my money, but she underestimated me. I don't even look at her."
“Mingzhu, from now on I’ll park the car at home, and we’ll ride our bicycles to school,” he added.
“There’s no need for that.” Li Mingzhu shook her head.
Since they have a car, their classmates will soon find out that they have one, so there's no need to pretend to be low-key.
The two returned to the tobacco and liquor store and found seven men standing at the entrance.
They were wearing leather jackets and jeans, and had dyed blond hair.
He stood at the entrance of the tobacco and liquor store, talking loudly with a cigarette dangling from his mouth.
A middle-aged man wanted to buy cigarettes, but the group wouldn't let him. The leader, a blond-haired man, stared coldly at the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man turned and left, crossed the street, went into the tobacco and liquor store on the other side of the street, bought a pack of yellow cigarettes, and came out.
These hooligans were deliberately causing trouble, and Wang Peng immediately remembered the warning from the breakfast shop owner next door.
The previous tenant also ran a tobacco and liquor store and paid three years' rent upfront.
If a tenant signs a written agreement with the landlord and the tenant moves out early, the landlord will not refund the rent.
As a result, after only two months of operation, the landlord hired thugs to deliberately sabotage the tenants' business, just like what happened now.
The tenants sought help from various parties, but had no choice but to move out, wasting three years' worth of rent.
"You want to try the same old trick? I'm not someone to be trifled with," Wang Peng thought to himself.
"Brother, are these street thugs looking to cause trouble?" Li Mingzhu unbuckled her seatbelt and was about to get out of the car.
"No, they are Du Lei's friends. We have things to do tonight, so I'll take you home first."
Wang Peng didn't want her to get involved in this kind of thing, so he started the car and drove away.
“Brother, these kinds of people are obviously no good. Why does Du Lei befriend them?” Li Mingzhu asked.
Wang Peng shook his head. "I'll talk to Du Lei later and tell him to keep his distance from them."
The car arrived at the warm residential area, and Li Mingzhu went home to rest.
Wang Peng found a phone booth nearby and called the traffic police.
A few minutes later, Li Keyong received a phone call.
"Xiao Peng, is there something you need?"
"Uncle, I need your help with something small." Wang Peng explained the whole story.
Upon hearing this, Li Keyong sneered directly over the phone.
"Landlords in the provincial capital are the most shameless; this is their classic tactic."
Li Keyong said, "Xiao Peng, don't go back to the store yet, I'll help you solve this."
Before Wang Peng could speak, Li Keyong hung up the phone.
Wang Peng was worried that Du Lei would act impulsively, so after hesitating for a few minutes, he still drove back to the tobacco and alcohol shop.
A blond-haired man wearing leather shoes walked into the tobacco and liquor store.
"Hey kid, get me a pack of Greenstone cigarettes." Yellow Hair pointed to the most expensive cigarettes in the cigarette cabinet, six yuan a pack.
“Sure, you pay first.” Du Lei looked at him with a sneer.
"Damn it, you're asking for it." Yellow Hair was furious and reached out to slap Du Lei across the face.
Du Lei leaned back tactically and slapped him across the face, making him see stars.
Then he took out a dagger from the counter, stared at the blond-haired guy, and said, "Kid, you want to fight? I'm ready!"
With the knives drawn, the other blond-haired men dared not make a move.
The troublemaker, Huang Mao, didn't dare to make a move, but he lost face and was so angry that his face turned red and his neck bulged.
"You think you're so tough? I'll block your door every day and see how you do business."
After saying that, he walked out of the store with his head held high.
"You son of a bitch, you coward!" Du Lei stood up and cursed.
However, he did not chase after them because Wang Peng had told him not to escalate the situation.
Outside the shop, the blond-haired leader was cursing and swearing.
"You little bastard, I'm going to ruin your business. Get the hell out of here!"
"I have plenty of time. Let's see how I wear you down."
"I'll fuck your ancestors, I'll fuck you..."
The blond-haired man's insults became increasingly vulgar, and his other lackeys joined in with their own curses.
Du Lei was so angry that his face turned red and his neck bulged. He grabbed a dagger and was about to fight back when he suddenly remembered what Wang Peng had said.
"Brother Lei, if you encounter any thugs causing trouble, don't go out. Just stay in the shop."
Du Lei took three deep breaths and finally managed to control his temper.
Just then, sirens sounded outside, and four police cars stopped on the road.
Seeing that things were not going well, the thug immediately ran away.
"stop!"
"Stop!"
Numerous police officers got out of their vehicles to give chase, carrying batons and other police equipment, and quickly formed an encirclement.
