Chapter 153 Transnational Counterfeit Money Case

Wang Peng drove to the Tsinghua University campus and parked his car in the parking lot.

Two girls got off the bus and walked hand in hand in front of them, with Wang Peng following behind.

Tsinghua University has a more open style of dress, with girls wearing short skirts everywhere.

The campus was large, and the three of them walked for a long time before sitting down to rest under the shade of a tree.

The three sat side by side, with Wang Peng in the middle, very close to the others, drawing envious and jealous glances from the boys nearby.

"Brother Peng, you missed the mark by just one point in your college entrance exam, wasn't that a pity?" Li Mengjiao teased with a smile.

Wang Peng shook his head, not feeling any regret, as he had never intended to make it in Beijing from the beginning.

"Sister Mengjiao, have you taken a leave of absence from school?" Li Mingzhu asked.

"I haven't applied yet. I'll apply for a leave of absence as soon as my student visa is issued."

Li Mengjiao shook her head and said, "When are you two going back? Today or tomorrow?"

Li Mingzhu looked up at Wang Peng.

"Today then," Wang Peng said, not wanting to waste too much time.

I've been away from the provincial capital for five days, and I still have a lot of business to take care of.

The three chatted for a few minutes, then got up and returned the way they came to the parking lot.

Li Mingzhu and Li Mengjiao embraced tightly, reluctant to part.

"Brother, this may be the last time we see each other."

Li Mengjiao smiled wryly and said, "I'll stay there for at least four years."

At this point, she stretched out her arms, "Brother, can I have a hug?"

"Brother, quickly wish Sister Mengjiao a safe journey," Li Mingzhu said with a smile. "This is a normal farewell ceremony."

Since his girlfriend didn't object, Wang Peng didn't hesitate and gently hugged Li Mengjiao.

"Although foreign countries are nice, they are not your home. Take good care of yourself there."

Li Mengjiao's eyes were filled with tears. "I hate it, I don't want to cry."

"Don't cry," Li Mingzhu said softly. "Sister Mengjiao, I wish you a pleasant study abroad experience. I will miss you."

After another round of reluctant farewells, Wang Peng and Li Mingzhu got into the car and waved goodbye to her.

As the car drove away, Li Mengjiao finally couldn't hold back her tears.

Wang Peng felt terrible; he couldn't understand why things had turned out this way.

"Brother, think about it from a different perspective. She has a better education and a brighter future."

Li Mingzhu said, "At least she is our partner. What if our overseas business becomes more and more successful?"

"Yes, you're right." Wang Peng stopped talking and focused on driving.

Four days later, in the afternoon, the car returned to the Wenxin residential area in the provincial capital.

Just after taking a shower, someone knocked on the door. Li Mingzhu went to open it and found Feng Dali and Li Keyong standing there.

The two were dressed casually, one carrying groceries and the other holding a bottle of liquor.

"Xiaopeng, Mingzhu, we two old guys are here to freeload a meal, are you happy to see us?" Feng Dali said with a smile.

"A warm welcome." Li Mingzhu hurriedly stepped forward to take the things. "Uncle, Uncle Feng, is something good happening?"

Li Keyong pointed to his face and said, "You and I can tell I'm unhappy just by looking at my ruddy complexion."

Wang Peng invited them to sit down and talk, while Li Mingzhu went to the kitchen to cook.

"Has the counterfeit currency case been solved?" Wang Peng asked.

"Smart!" Feng Dali winked and whispered, "Let's talk downstairs."

Wang Peng nodded, took the car keys, and went downstairs with him.

The two men opened the car door and got in to talk. Feng Dali gave a detailed account of the investigation into the counterfeit currency case.

Wang Peng listened carefully, becoming more and more engrossed, until he was terrified.

This is a major transnational counterfeit currency case.

The counterfeit currency production site is located in northern Myanmar, Southeast Asia, and mainly produces counterfeit RMB banknotes with a face value of 100 yuan.

The criminals were cunning; instead of choosing the more economically and technologically advanced coastal areas, they first tested the waters inland.

Tong Xinshu, who deceived counselor Xue Fengling, was a member of a counterfeit currency criminal gang.

He was from the provincial capital, so he was in charge of the trial run. The three men who went to the liquor store to buy alcohol were all Tong Xinshu's subordinates.

"Xiao Peng, thanks to you for discovering the counterfeit money, Tong Xinshu's gang has been apprehended."

"The government has introduced the latest banknote verification machine, which can detect their counterfeit money."

"At the same time, the national security department has taken over the counterfeit currency case. Our mission is complete, and I'm getting a promotion."

At this point, Feng Dali could no longer suppress the urge to smile, "He got promoted and is now the director of our district branch."

"Congratulations!" Wang Peng gave him a thumbs up. "Uncle Feng, this is a great achievement."

Feng Dali's expression suddenly turned serious.

"Xiao Peng, the provincial department held a meeting and decided to remove you from this case for your safety."

Wang Peng nodded; this was indeed a good thing.

He didn't want to be retaliated against by criminals, in case there were still some escaped criminals hiding in the provincial capital.

"But there's still a bonus." Feng Dali took out a red envelope and smiled, "Two thousand yuan, don't think it's too little."

Two thousand yuan is quite a sum, and Wang Peng readily accepted it.

Feng Dali then pulled out two more business cards and said, "These are from a restaurant owned by my friend. You can contact them; they might need your cigarettes and alcohol."

"Thank you, Uncle Feng." Wang Peng casually put the business card in his pocket and smiled. "Uncle, let's go upstairs."

The two got out of the car and went upstairs, where they started chatting about everyday things and stopped talking about business.

Li Mingzhu prepared six dishes, and the four of them ate and chatted until 10 p.m.

Li Keyong and Feng Dali were both drunk, but Wang Peng, who hadn't been drinking, drove them home.

After dropping them off, it was already midnight at the night market.

The next day was Sunday. Li Mingzhu was creating comics at home while Wang Peng drove to a tobacco and liquor store.
