Chapter 163 My Best Friend is Looking for a Job

Wang Peng escorted his brothers to the school dormitory, and Dong Lin immediately fell asleep.

He's sleeping like a log, you couldn't wake him up even if it was thunder, so I guess there's no way he can call his dad.

Wang Zhenhua drove to the girls' dormitory, asked someone to call Li Mingzhu down, and then drove her home.

"Honey, Shishi and I had hot pot, it was delicious."

Li Mingzhu listed them off as if they were her own children: "There's mutton, beef, and all sorts of vegetables."

“Sure, we just had some home-style food, it only cost a few dozen yuan, it’s on me,” Wang Peng said.

"Our meal was paid for by Sister Shishi, and she wanted to ask me for a favor."

Li Mingzhu said, "Honey, she has art class in the morning and self-study time in the afternoon. She wants to come and help out at our shop."

"Helping you guys is just working for you," Wang Peng asked. "Did you agree to her offer?"

"No," Li Mingzhu said with a smile. "You're in charge of this household, so of course I can't overstep my bounds."

After crossing an intersection, Wang Peng asked, "What's her character like?"

Wang Peng was not familiar with Dong Shishi; he had only met her a few times.

The only job a tobacco and liquor store can offer is a salesperson position, which involves dealing with money all day and requires an honest and reliable person.

“Her family is from a mountainous area and is very poor. Her mother is also sick, so she has to earn her tuition fees herself.”

Li Mingzhu whispered, "Sister Shishi is very honest; she never uses other people's things in the dormitory."

“Okay,” Wang Peng said. “Let her come. She can come only in the morning and afternoon each month. Room and board are included. Give her three hundred yuan a month.”

“Honey, isn’t this too good a treatment?” Li Mingzhu said.

The average salary in the provincial capital has risen to 500 yuan, but it basically doesn't include food and accommodation. You only get 300 yuan for a half-day shift.

“Let him rest two more days a week, Saturday and Sunday. Not for any other reason than to pay Du Lei to find a partner.”

At this point, Wang Peng was both amused and exasperated.

In his past life, Du Lei was betrayed by a scumbag woman; in this life, he's getting along famously with a bad girl. His love life is a complete mess.

If we don't take care of this brother, he might actually marry Huang Xiaolan.

The thought of marrying a prostitute is something Wang Peng finds hard to accept.

"Honey, are you doing charity work?" Li Mingzhu chuckled. "What kind of boss are you?"

"Our parents are both working class, we cannot betray the working class."

Wang Peng laughed and said, "If our parents come to work here, they will receive the same treatment."

The air suddenly became quiet, and after half a minute, Li Mingzhu still didn't speak.

Wang Peng slowed down, turned to look at her, and asked, "What's wrong? Why are you suddenly silent?"

“Brother, you’re right, we can’t betray the working class,” Li Mingzhu said.

"Oh, so that's what made you feel this way. Is there anything wrong with that statement?" Wang Peng said.

He thought about it carefully and realized that the statement was quite normal.

“Brother, I’ll talk to Sister Shishi tomorrow, she’ll definitely agree,” Li Mingzhu said.

The car returned to the cozy residential area, and the two went home, took a shower, and went to bed.

I got up early the next day and went to have breakfast near the school.

Wang Peng drove to Xingfu Supermarket and used a public phone to call Du Lei to tell him about Dong Shishi's situation.

"Brother Peng, why do you pay her such a high salary? Is she your sister-in-law's best friend?" Du Lei asked.

“Your sister-in-law wants to introduce her to you, you understand?” Wang Peng said with a smile.

Du Lei, who was drinking tea, choked on the tea leaves. Tea water came out of his nostrils, and he coughed incessantly.

After a long while, Du Lei said, "Brother, my sister-in-law is playing matchmaker. I don't want to date right now."

"Don't say that. Your sister-in-law said she's a good girl."

Wang Peng chuckled and said, "Let's get to know each other, just like making friends."

The two brothers chatted for a few more minutes, then Wang Peng hung up the phone and paid the bill.

"Aunt Wang, the wine I gave you is genuine, isn't it?"

Grandma Wang waved her hand and said, "It's all true so far, Mr. Wang, keep up the good work!"

Just then, the phone on the table rang.

When Wang Peng saw it was the store's phone number, he quickly answered it.

"Brother Peng, I need five cartons of Coral Roasted Whole Lamb, two cases of Red Flower Wine, and four cases of Blue Willow River Wine. I need it delivered this afternoon."

Coral Roasted Whole Lamb is a restaurant located on this street.

"I understand, I'll be right back," Wang Peng said.

"Okay, I'll hang up now." Du Lei hung up the phone.

Grandma Wang had a rule that she had to give four cents to answer the phone, so Wang Peng took out his money and gave it to her.

She glanced at the phone bill calculator, then waved her hand, "Local calls are free, so I won't charge you."

"Mr. Wang, your business is getting bigger and bigger! Liu Shanhu is using your cigarettes and alcohol too?" the old lady said.

"No way! You think highly of me and are willing to give me food to eat. Thank you."

Wang Peng smiled slightly, turned around and left her shop, driving back to the School of Business Administration.

The car arrived at the foot of the teaching building and saw Li Mingzhu and Dong Shishi.

Li Mingzhu took Dong Shishi's hand and got into the car to sit in the back seat. "Honey, Shishi has agreed."

"Brother Peng, thank you for taking care of me." Dong Shishi extended her hand.

Wang Peng shook hands with her and said with a smile, "It's not that I'm looking out for you, it's that Mingzhu appreciates you. When are you going to start work?"

"Honey, after class, Sister Shishi will come back with us."

Li Mingzhu held out her hand, "Give me the car keys, let's go to the girls' dormitory to get Shishi's luggage."

"Hmm?" Wang Peng asked Dong Shishi, "You're not living on campus anymore?"

Dong Shishi shook her head, "There's a place to stay at the shop, so I won't be coming back tonight."

“There is a place, but…” Wang Peng hesitated, as Du Lei also lived in the shop.

"Honey, I've told Sister Shishi about the situation at the store." Li Mingzhu secretly winked at her husband.

Wang Peng handed the car keys to Li Mingzhu, saying, "Drive slowly."

After saying that, he picked up his textbooks, got off the bus, and went to the classroom for class.

As I walked up to the teaching building, I saw Li Mingzhu drive away.

The teacher on the podium was still Professor Wang Simei, a senior professor of advanced mathematics, and the classroom was only half full.

At the beginning of the school year, students came to the classroom every day.

Then, as time went on, fewer and fewer people attended classes; their minds were wandering off to play.

"Sixth Brother, I called my dad this morning, and he said he wants to meet with you in person," Dong Lin said softly.

Wang Peng nodded. "Brother, can you really give me a 200 yuan discount on your thatch? Is that really possible?"

"I can only say that it's possible, because I have something on him."

Dong Lin sneered, "Sixth Brother, we had an agreement: if the price drops by two hundred, you'll give me a one hundred commission."

“That’s no problem at all.” Wang Peng gave him a thumbs up; this kid was incredibly filial.

If a father has something on his son, it's highly likely that he's having an affair, and his son found out.

And for some reason, he dared not let his wife know, which became a handle against him.

Half an hour later, the class ended.

Professor Wang Simei walked up to Wang Peng and said, "Xiao Peng, come to my office and let's chat for a bit."
