Chapter 169 The Scapegoat: Fourth Sister Wang

Since there were no cars to drive today, Wang Peng and Li Mingzhu took the bus to school.

Passing by a tobacco and liquor store, they gave Dong Shishi a ride, chatting and laughing all the way.

Dong Shishi was unaware of Dong Lin's suicide attempt. After hearing Li Mingzhu's explanation of the whole story, she was completely stunned.

"I swear to God, I really don't know Dong Lin well."

She was a little anxious. "Mingzhu, I can't remember what he looks like at all, really."

Li Mingzhu smiled slightly, "Is it possible that Dong Lin has a crush on you?"

Dong Shishi was taken aback, then quickly shook her head, "It shouldn't be, I've never spoken to him."

"Sister Shishi, how's work at the store?" Wang Peng changed the subject.

He thought Dong Lin's suicide attempt was just a prank, and that standing up for Dong Shishi was also a prank.

“That’s great! I’ve discovered I really enjoy selling things,” Dong Shishi said.

"What do you think of Du Lei?" Wang Peng asked again.

"Him? Humph!" Dong Shishi rolled her eyes. "I think he's just a complete idiot, so stupid."

Upon hearing this, both Wang Peng and Li Mingzhu laughed.

Wang Peng knows Du Lei well; he's a sycophant who always treats others with utmost sincerity, and he'll definitely suffer in the future.

The bus arrived at the station, the three of them got off, and walked into the campus together.

Soon, Dong Shishi realized something was wrong.

Strangers would often stare at her, and even girls would smirk at her; she was surrounded by strange looks.

Her mood instantly soured, and Dong Shishi pouted, looking down at her shoes.

"Hold your head high and don't care what other people think."

Hearing Wang Peng's words, Dong Shishi quickly looked up, and their eyes met.

"My employees are all like my brothers and sisters, how can I walk with my head down?"

After Wang Peng finished speaking, he pointed to the girl next to him and asked, "Why are you laughing at Dong Shishi?"

"No!" the girl denied instinctively.

"No?" Wang Peng said, "You were pointing fingers at her just now, what did she do to offend you?"

The girl blushed and quickly waved her hand, "I wasn't laughing at her, I was just envious that she has a good boyfriend."

Wang Peng stared at her face and laughed, "Whether it's mockery or not, it's not good to criticize others."

"I..." The girl realized she couldn't win the argument, so she stood up and ran away.

Her hasty retreat gave Dong Shishi confidence.

"Classmate, Dong Lin is not my boyfriend, please don't talk nonsense."

Dong Shishi called out to her retreating figure.

The girl ran away without looking back, covering her ears.

"Haha!" Li Mingzhu laughed. "Sister Shishi, as long as you are confident, any rumors are just a paper tiger."

"Yes! Thank you, Brother Peng, thank you so much." Dong Shishi nodded emphatically.

Just then, a woman wearing glasses walked towards us.

"Hello, counselor." Dong Shishi and Li Mingzhu greeted each other at the same time.

Qian Shufen, the art class counselor, has an oval face and a beauty mark at the corner of her mouth.

She adjusted her glasses and said, "Shishi, your application for poverty alleviation has been approved."

Dong Shishi immediately beamed with joy.

The 200 yuan monthly assistance was a timely help for her.

"No need to thank me, thank Dong Lin for speaking up for you."

Qian Shufen adjusted her glasses again, turned to look at Wang Peng, and said, "Wang, Principal Wang is looking for you."

"I understand, thank you, teacher," Wang Peng said with a smile.

Yesterday's farce of Dong Lin jumping off a building means someone has to take the blame, and I guess Wang Simei will be that scapegoat.

"A visiting professor is giving a lecture on comics today, so you two remember to attend class," Qian Shufen reminded Dong Shishi and Li Mingzhu.

The two nodded hastily.

"Peng, you go to class first, we'll go with the teacher." Li Mingzhu hugged Qian Shufen's arm.

After everyone said their goodbyes, Wang Peng returned to the classroom.

After finishing an English class, I packed up my books and prepared to go to the principal's office.

In the corridor, Zhao Long asked, "Sixth Brother, is Boss alright?"

"He's perfectly fine. You should worry about yourself instead," Wang Peng sneered.

"Huh? What's wrong with me?" Zhao Long subconsciously took a half step back.

Wang Peng raised his fist and said, "You brat, don't call me again, no matter how big the problem is."

"Because you called me over, and then the boss used this as an excuse to steal my car, you deserve a beating."

A fist the size of a sandbag came down, scaring Zhao Long so much that he turned and ran.

He shouted as he ran, "I'll reimburse your bus fare, haha."

Wang Peng shook his head, walked all the way to Wang Simei's office, and knocked on the door.

Hearing someone inside call out "Come in," he pushed open the door and went inside.

"Principal Wang, you wanted to see me?"

Wang Simei pointed to the chair opposite her and said, "Sit down and talk."

The two sat facing each other, looking at one another.

"Wang Peng, did you instigate Dong Lin to jump off the building?" Wang Simei asked.

Wang Peng stared into his eyes, his expression gradually turning cold.

"Principal, don't talk nonsense. Believe me or not, I'll sue you for defamation."

Wang Simei laughed, "Okay, okay, I was just kidding."

"Principal, this is no joke!" Wang Peng sneered. "Do you think it's funny?"

"Sorry, sorry." Wang Simei hurriedly waved her hand. "Xiao Peng, just kidding. I have something important to discuss with you."

Sizzle—

The sound of a chair scraping against the floor made Wang Peng stand up. "I'm not in a good mood today. Let's talk another day."

After saying that, he turned and left.

Wang Simei sneered, "What kind of attitude is this? Do you even want to graduate?"

Just then, the telephone on the table rang.

Wang Simei answered the phone.

"Comrade Principal, I am Wang Simei."
