Chapter 194 Huang Hao Confesses

"Let's burn it then. I've already bought insurance. It's almost Chinese New Year, so give me something festive."

Wang Peng was overjoyed, finally getting rid of Huang Hao, his biggest threat.

It's easy to be a thief for a thousand days, but difficult to guard against one for a thousand days. Despite his thorough preparations, Huang Hao still kept him on his toes.

"Xiao Peng, how much of the food was burned?" Wu Lei's heart suddenly skipped a beat. "Are Du Lei and that female shop assistant alright?"

“It’s alright, they haven’t lived in the shop for a long time,” Wang Peng said. “There’s only stuff in the shop, no one here.”

At this moment, Li Kefan ran to Wang Peng's side, but seeing that his son-in-law was talking to the police officer, he didn't say anything.

Wu Lei chatted with Wang Peng for a few more minutes before continuing to maintain order at the intersection.

"Xiao Peng, Lao Hong went out to chase after him, and he hasn't come back yet."

"What? How could he possibly chase after them?"

"I don't know either, sigh—"

Wang Peng immediately tensed up and hurriedly opened the car door to get in. "Dad, which way did he go to chase after them?"

"Over there!" Li Kefan pointed to the west.

"You go back to sleep first, I'll go find him." Wang Peng immediately started the car.

I kept praying in my heart, hoping that Hong Tianhe would be safe and sound, but that old guy was really infuriating.

When Wu Lei saw the car lights come on, he quickly reached out to stop the car.

"Pengdi, where are you going?"

“I went to find someone. Lao Hong is a friend of my father-in-law. He lives in the warehouse opposite the tobacco and liquor store. The two old friends discovered that the tobacco and liquor store was on fire, and Lao Hong chased after it. I was worried that something might happen to him.”

"Don't go. He's not only fine, he's also done a great service."

Wang Peng was taken aback, then quickly opened the car door to let Wu Lei in and handed him a cigarette.

"Brother Lei told me, what exactly happened?"

"Wait, let me light my cigarette first."

With a snap, Wu Lei lit a cigarette, took a couple of comfortable puffs, and began to recount how Huang Hao was captured.

After he finished speaking, Wang Peng broke out in a cold sweat.

A rubber bat against a dagger: 99.9% chance of certain death.

If you can't knock the enemy unconscious with a single blow, the enemy can kill you with a single slash.

"That's too dangerous! Old Hong was too impulsive. I have to say something to him." Wang Peng gritted his teeth in anger.

"I absolutely have to give Lao Hong a banner," Wu Lei chuckled and said, "but he really was too reckless."

"Yeah, I was almost scared to death by him." Wang Peng rubbed his chest. "If you encounter an armed thug and you don't have a gun, just run."

“That’s true,” Wu Lei said. “Come with me to the station, I’ll take your statement.”

As a victim, it is only right that I give a statement.

Wang Peng drove directly to the Xueyuan Street Police Station.

After giving his statement, he learned that Hong Tianhe was at the branch office, so he immediately drove there and met him in Feng Dali's office.

His eyes were bloodshot, and he looked very haggard.

Wang Peng couldn't help but shake his head, unable to utter a single curse.

"Uncle Hong, you've worked hard, but why did you listen to my advice?"

"If you had missed that one blow, it would be uncertain whether you would be alive now."

"I've told you so many times, the police will definitely catch him. What are you trying to do, play the hero?"

"If something happens to you, how am I supposed to face..."

Seeing that he was smiling but not saying anything, with an expression of accepting punishment, Wang Peng felt embarrassed to continue.

After a long silence, Hong Tianhe said, "Xiao Peng, I want to make a contribution, and I want to make a living with you in the future."

Wang Peng was taken aback, and couldn't help but smile bitterly, "You can't gamble with your life. With your relationship with my dad, you can come work for me anytime you ask."

At this point, Wang Peng didn't want to waste any more words, so he took out a pack of cigarettes and gave it to him.

"Uncle Hong, you can work with my dad to deliver goods for now. Your monthly salary will still be five hundred, with room and board included."

"No need for accommodation, I can stay at home," Hong Tianhe hurriedly waved his hand and said.

At this moment, two police officers came to the office. "Comrade Hong Tianhe, please give us your statement."

“Okay.” Hong Tianhe stood up and followed the two police officers away.

He apprehended Huang Hao, who had fled after setting the fire, and he became the most crucial witness.

An hour later, Feng Dali returned with Hong Tianhe.

"Xiao Peng, the suspect Huang Hao has confessed; he is the arsonist."

"We'll go to your store tomorrow to verify the losses, and the inspection authorities will also contact you. Be prepared."

At this point, he instructed Hong Tianhe, "Old Feng, don't go out of town for the time being, and cooperate with our investigation."

“I understand.” Hong Tianhe nodded hurriedly.

Wang Peng said, "Uncle Feng, you've worked hard."

"Don't mention it, it's my pleasure." Feng Dali patted him on the shoulder and said, "You guys go back first, we can talk about it tomorrow."

"Okay, goodbye Uncle Feng." Wang Peng shook hands with him.

He drove Hong Tianhe away from the branch office and drove all the way to the tobacco and liquor store.

The streetlights on both sides finally came on, and the tobacco and liquor store was burned beyond recognition; Wang Peng almost couldn't recognize it.

"Uncle Hong, you can go upstairs to sleep now. You can go back to work tomorrow."

"Hey! Xiaopeng, thank you, thank you."

"Alright, go back to sleep."

Wang Peng waved to him and drove back to the Wenxin residential area.

The lights were on in the house, and Duan Cuilu and Li Mingzhu were sitting in the living room.

"Xiaopeng, are your dad and Lao Hong alright?" Duan Cuilu asked anxiously.

"Don't worry, everything's fine." Wang Peng glanced at his watch and said, "Mom, you can get some more sleep."

"I definitely won't be able to sleep." Duan Cuilu smiled bitterly. "I really didn't expect that even after so long, he would still want to take revenge on us."

"Mom, Huang Hao is a leopard that can't change its spots," Li Mingzhu said with a slight smile. "Brother, has the police caught him?"

“If they catch him, he’ll be locked up for at least ten years, or even longer,” Wang Peng said.

"Great!" Li Mingzhu stretched. "After a month of living in fear, I can finally get a good night's sleep. Brother, you go back to sleep for a while."

Wang Peng yawned and went back to his bedroom to sleep.

I was woken up by a phone call from home at 10:30 a.m.

The branch office asked him to provide the house rental contract, renovation costs, and purchase list in order to estimate the losses caused by the fire.

These things had been prepared long ago. Wang Peng carried the file bag out of the bedroom and found Du Lei and Dong Shishi in the living room.

"Brother Peng, what should we do?" Dong Shishi asked with a smile.

The tobacco and liquor store will need at least one or two months to reopen. Du Lei and Li Kefan will be in charge of deliveries, leaving Dong Shishi with nothing to do.

“Go to James Bond and help Mingzhu. Your salary and benefits will remain the same,” Wang Peng said.

"Thank you, Brother Peng." Dong Shishi's face immediately lit up with a smile. "I was worried that the RV would make me lose my job."

“As long as I don’t lose my job, you won’t lose yours,” Wang Peng chuckled and said. “Let’s go, I’ll take you there.”

"No need, I'll take the bus," Dong Shishi said hurriedly. "I know you're busy."

Wang Peng nodded and drove Du Lei to the tobacco and alcohol warehouse.

"Good heavens! It's burned to this state?" Du Lei was dumbfounded when he saw the devastation.

"Brother Lei, why don't you go handle our insurance?" Wang Peng said.
