Chapter 236 Refusing a toast only to suffer a penalty?

A residential area on Garden Road.

Kenneth Ma returned home excitedly. "Xiao Li, look what I brought!"

"Shrimp?" The two children immediately ran over, grabbed shrimp, and put them in their mouths.

"Why did you buy shrimp? There are places in the house where money is needed," Zhang Li questioned in a stern voice.

"I didn't buy it, the boss gave it to me." Ma Guoming hurriedly waved his hand, "I just had shrimp hot pot with the boss, and we didn't finish it, so he asked me to pack it up."

“I don’t believe it!” Zhang Li shook her head. “Ma Yonghong has no anus, he only eats and doesn’t poop, there’s no way he could give you shrimp.”

Ma Guoming said in a deep voice, "Xiao Li, I was fired by Yong Hong today."

"Huh?" Zhang Li's vision went black, and she suddenly coughed violently.

"I found a new job, and Wang Peng told me to start work tomorrow." Ma Guoming's joke went too far, and he quickly patted his wife on the back.

Zhang Li's cough worsened, tears and snot streamed down her face, and she punched her husband hard.

"What's wrong with you? Are you trying to scare me on purpose? You deserve a beating!" Zhang Li punched her husband again, then couldn't help but smile.

She often heard her husband talk about Wang Peng and knew that she could earn more than a thousand yuan working for Wang Peng.

After a moment, she asked anxiously, "What happened? My emotions are like a rollercoaster!"

Seeing the adoration on his wife's face, Ma Guoming found his dignity as a man. As long as he earned a monthly salary of one thousand, he had something to look forward to.

He heated the shrimp hotpot over a coal fire and recounted the whole story in detail.

Zhang Li was stunned and couldn't get over it for a long time.

After a long silence, she whispered, "Ma Yonghong doesn't treat you like a human being, but Wang Peng does. Husband, you must abide by Wang Peng's rules."

"Of course I'll keep my word." Ma Guoming grinned from ear to ear, promising to uphold the rule against overtime for the rest of his life.

The shrimp hotpot was ready, and the family gathered around the table to eat shrimp. He only ate the shrimp heads, leaving the shrimp meat for his wife and children.

“Dad,” the eldest daughter said with a smile, “Xiaomai’s mom earns 650 a month and brags about it to everyone at work. This time, I’m going to beat her.”

"You are my pride, Dad!" The second daughter gave a thumbs-up.

Ma Guoming was grinning from ear to ear, and was so excited that he couldn't sleep at night. He immediately decided to risk his life for Wang Peng.

The rich bestow favors with money, but if the poor repay such favors, all they get is their worthless lives.

At 7:05 the next morning, he arrived at the Brothers Tobacco and Liquor Store and found the store door closed, with Du Lei smoking at the entrance.

"Brother Guoming, why are you here so early?" Du Lei said. "The employees come in at eight o'clock, and we officially open for business at eight-thirty."

"Huh?" Ma Guoming was dumbfounded.

Yonghong requires customers to sign in at 7:10 and open for business at 7:30.

"Brother Lei, if that's the case, I can take the kids to school tomorrow and let my wife get some rest."

Du Lei blushed a little. "Don't come so early next time. Just call me Lei Zi. I'm only in my twenties."

“Calling me ‘brother’ is a sign of respect,” Ma Guoming said with a smile. “Lei Zi, why are you up so early?”

"I run every day," Du Lei said softly as he saw the car in the distance. "Brother Peng is here."

The Santana pulled over to the side of the road, and Wang Peng and Li Mingzhu got out. Ma Guoming quickly greeted them.

Wang Peng said, "Brother Ma, don't come so early next time. Just make sure it doesn't interfere with our opening at 8:30."

Ma Guoming nodded hurriedly, and Wang Peng took out his keys to open the door.

As the group entered the store, he locked it with a U-lock from the inside.

Just then, a van arrived, and Ma Guoming immediately recognized it as Yonghong's van.

When the car door opened, he saw General Manager Ma Guoqing and instinctively tried to avoid him.

Suddenly realizing that she wasn't one of Yonghong's people, she mustered up her courage, raised her head, and stood next to Wang Peng.

"Ma Guoming? What are you doing here?" Ma Guoqing asked in a deep voice.

“Mr. Ma, Guoming is my employee. He joined yesterday and started working today,” Wang Peng explained.

"What?" Ma Guoqing stared wide-eyed at Wang Peng.

A few seconds later, he smiled and pulled out a list, "Brother Peng, I've come to buy some goods."

The list includes Gold Sanhua, Silver Sanhua, Special Brew Sanhua... covering almost the entire Sanhua series.

Wang Peng handed the list to Li Mingzhu, who quickly wrote down the quotes and pressed the calculator.

For a moment, the only sound in the room was the clicking of a calculator.

After a long pause, Li Mingzhu said, "It's a total of forty-five thousand yuan. Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Ma."

"Don't be so polite, sister-in-law." Ma Guoqing glanced at Ma Guoming and said with a smile, "Let's load it onto the truck now."

Li Mingzhu shook her head. "Sorry, let's wait until 8:30. We officially open for business at 8:30."

"Goodness." Ma Guoqing laughed. "Brother Peng, I'm bringing you money, and you're asking me to wait another hour."

"Brother Ma, have some tea first, let's chat for an hour," Wang Peng invited him to the tea room on the second floor.

"Okay." Ma Guoqing gave his secretary a wink, and the secretary hurriedly left.

Wang Peng gave the car keys to his wife so she could drive to school, while he went upstairs to have tea with Ma Guoqing.

At 8:15, Dong Shishi, Li Kefan, Hong Tianhe, Song Lamei and others arrived one after another.

Everyone worked together to move the liquor according to the list.

Wang Peng also came downstairs, counting the payments while chatting with Ma Guoqing.

Just then, the phone rang. Wang Peng looked at the caller ID and saw that it was a call from Ma Yonghong's office.

Wang Peng answered the phone, "Hello Mr. Ma, you've been thinking of me so early?"

A sinister voice came through the receiver, "Xiao Peng, you fired Ma Guoming?"

"Oh? Why is that?" Wang Peng exclaimed in surprise.

“There’s an unwritten rule in the provincial capital supermarkets: they don’t hire people who have been fired by others,” Ma Yonghong said in a deep voice.

His voice carried a subtle hint of pride.
