Chapter 253 I Want to Build an Aircraft Carrier

The vast plains are covered with lush green peanut seedlings, stretching as far as the eye can see.

The Central Plains has always been a strategic location fought over by military strategists; whoever controls the Central Plains controls the world.

However, he had no natural defenses and was afraid of any mechanized forces, such as cavalry, tanks, and armored vehicles.

With no natural barriers and a terrain as vast as the sea, Wang Peng always felt oppressed.

Li Mingzhu said excitedly, "I want to paint. I want to paint the Great Plains on paper and participate in the Qi Baishi Cup Grand Prix."

The Qi Baishi Cup is a national painting competition.

Wang Peng said softly, "Let's take care of business first, shall we?"

“Okay, I’ll listen to my husband.” Li Mingzhu turned to look out the window and continued to gaze at the green carpet of the plains.

The arrival of the car in Hanjiacun Village drew the attention of the villagers.

Wang Peng parked his car at the village committee and prepared to walk to Han's house.

Li Mingzhu was worried, "I'm concerned that someone might deliberately scratch the car, so I'll stay and watch over it."

Wang Peng scratched his head and said softly, "It shouldn't be that unlucky, right?"

At this moment, a middle-aged man came out of the house.

He glanced at the Audi, smiled, and said, "I am the Party Secretary of Han Village. Where do you two distinguished guests come from?"

Wang Peng tossed him a pack of cigarettes. "We're visiting some friends. Could you please watch my car for me, Secretary?"

"No problem." The Party Secretary smiled and put the cigarettes in his pocket.

This is Heitashan cigarette, which costs twelve yuan a pack; it's the most expensive cigarette in the country.

The village secretary exclaimed in surprise, "Good heavens, that's eight laps, surely worth hundreds of thousands?"

The Audi lapped around eight times, leaving Wang Peng both amused and exasperated. "This car costs less than 600,000 yuan."

"Oh my god!" The Party Secretary shuddered and hurriedly said, "Don't worry, I won't do anything, I'll just watch your car for you."

Wang Peng thought he should have driven his Alto over; he wouldn't feel bad if someone scratched it.

"Secretary, may I ask how to get to Han Jianguo's house?"

"Han Jianguo? Han Jianguo who goes to university in the provincial capital?"

"Hmm, how many Han Jianguos are there in your village?"

“Two,” the old Party Secretary said. “One is studying at a university in the provincial capital, and the other is studying at a university in Ping’an County Prison.”

"Pfft..." Li Mingzhu was amused by him.

The old Party Secretary gestured and pointed out the location of the Han family, a college student.

Wang Peng thanked him and then visited him with his wife.

The Han family's house is located in the northeast corner of the village. The courtyard wall is made of adobe bricks, the gate is a broken iron gate, and the main room consists of three adobe houses.

The gate was open. Wang Peng knocked lightly. "Is anyone home? Fellow villager, are you home?"

A moment later, a middle-aged man appeared at the doorway of the main room and asked in confusion, "Comrade, who are you looking for?"

He was wearing a tattered vest and plastic slippers, had a thick beard, and was as thin as a stick.

This person is Han Jianguo's father, Han Mingwei.

A moment later, a girl appeared beside him.

The girl had dark skin and was wearing a tacky yellow dress.

It was Han Ling'er, Han Jianguo's younger sister, who was the impoverished college student he was sponsoring.

Wang Peng smiled and said, "Uncle, isn't my aunt home?"

Han Mingwei shook his head. "She went to the provincial capital on business and hasn't returned yet. What do you need her for?"

As he spoke, he walked to the gate of the courtyard.

Wang Peng said, "My wife and I were passing by when we lost our wallets. We haven't had a drop of water since noon yesterday."

"Uncle, please have mercy and let us have a meal. We're starving!" Wang Peng added.

Li Mingzhu quickly gritted her teeth to suppress her laughter and looked down at her feet.

She thought to herself, "Honey, we came here to donate money, how did we end up begging?"

Han Mingwei looked them over and said with a wry smile, "Comrade, the food at my home isn't very good."

Wang Peng smiled ingratiatingly, "Uncle, as long as I can fill my stomach, that's fine. A beggar doesn't mind if the bread is dark."

Han Mingwei said, "Okay, plain noodles in soup, do you want some?"

"Eat, thank you, uncle," Wang Peng said eagerly. "Even cornbread is fine, as long as it fills my stomach."

"Alright, let's go inside and talk," Han Mingwei instructed his daughter. "Ling'er, make two more bowls of noodles."

The four entered the main room, and Han Ling'er took some wheat flour in an aluminum basin to the kitchen to make noodles.

The three main rooms are dark and damp, connected in the middle but separated by a cloth curtain.

A portrait of a great man hangs in the main hall, and student award certificates are pasted on both sides.

Looking at these certificates, Wang Peng recalled himself when he first transmigrated, his bedroom walls were also covered with certificates.

Han Ling'er shared his plight, also facing the predicament of not being able to afford to go to school.

The difference is that he relied on his memories from his previous life to fight his way through and grow step by step.

However, Han Ling'er is different; she has no memories of her past life.

Seeing him looking at the certificate, Han Mingwei said proudly, "The one on the left is my son's certificate; he's studying at a university in the provincial capital."

"On the right is my daughter's award certificate. She was admitted to the provincial university this year. My daughter is even smarter and can win awards every semester."

"That's amazing!" Wang Peng praised him. "You're so lucky to have two college graduates in your family."

"What's so special about it?" Han Mingwei laughed. "As long as my child does well, my mission is accomplished."

Wang Peng nodded. "Uncle, is the child's tuition fee okay?"

Han Mingwei was taken aback for a moment, then said, "It's not a big problem. Even if I have to sell everything I own, I will still support my child's education."

He didn't complain. They were just strangers who met by chance, so why talk about those unpleasant things?

The three chatted in the main room for a long time before Han Ling'er brought in noodles.

The noodles were served in clear broth, with only a few spinach leaves and a small amount of chopped pickled radish in the bowl.

Han Mingwei said, "Young man, these are all the things we have at home, please don't mind them."

Wang Peng hurriedly shook his head, "We're lucky to get any food at all, how dare we complain?"

He picked up a mouthful of noodles; there was no oiliness at all, only a strong salty taste.
