Chapter 263 Wang Cheng's Provocation

That afternoon, Wang Cheng drove Wang Song, Li Guifen, and Wang Weiping to the provincial capital.

Instead of settling his parents in the warm residential area, he took them to Wang Peng's brother's supermarket.

He wanted to embarrass Wang Peng.

I just became wealthy and brought my parents to the city to enjoy a better life. You've been wealthy for so long, yet you don't let your parents enjoy a better life. So you're an unfilial son and an ingrate.

The car was parked on the side of the road, and they saw a lot of goods piled up at the entrance of the supermarket, all of which were daily necessities such as toothbrushes and washbasins.

Wang Cheng unbuckled his seatbelt and saw Wang Peng and others coming out with banners.

Du Lei and Ma Guoming climbed the ladder and fixed the red banner with white characters to the wall.

The banner read: These are all counterfeit and shoddy goods. Brother Supermarket does not sell counterfeit goods. Fellow villagers, please feel free to take them, it's free.

An old man stopped, read the contents of the banner, and asked with a smile, "Boss, what's going on here?"

Wang Peng said, "These are counterfeit goods left over from Qinghui Supermarket. You can take them if you want; they're free."

The old man pressed on, "Boss, are you serious? You really don't need any money?"

Wang Peng nodded. "I'm serious, it's real. You can take whatever you want, but I'm warning you, these are all fake."

"Okay, you said it yourself." The old man immediately picked up a pack of toothbrushes. "I'll take it, okay?"

"Take it, stop asking. Take whatever you want, as much as you want," Wang Peng said impatiently.

The old man put the toothbrush into the basket, looked up at Wang Peng, and then stuffed a box of AAA batteries into the basket.

Upon seeing this, passersby immediately rushed over to grab the goods.

The scene instantly spiraled out of control. The first elderly person to grab the goods was squeezed in the crowd, unable to leave, and cried out in distress.

Passersby swarmed around like flies attracted to a fishy smell, creating chaos at the scene.

Wang Peng was a little stunned. The scene was terrifying; the mob looting was quite frightening.

Du Lei and Ma Guoming were terrified and kept praying that there wouldn't be a stampede.

The traffic police officers on duty at the intersection were also frightened and rushed over to maintain order.

"Brother Peng, my brother, what kind of trouble are you causing?" Traffic policeman Du Lisan stomped his feet in anger.

He was an officer in the Fifth Traffic Police Brigade, a subordinate of Brigade Captain Li Keyong.

During his daily patrols, he often went to the Brothers Tobacco and Liquor Store to get hot water; he was good friends with Wang Peng.

Wang Peng was a little embarrassed. "These are counterfeit goods left behind by Qinghui. It would be a shame to just throw them away. I didn't expect them to cause such a commotion. I'm sorry."

"Oh dear, my own brother." Du Lisan was both amused and exasperated.

Forget about giving away counterfeit or substandard goods for free; even if you spill a bag of rice on the road, as long as it's free, people will pick it up for you.

He turned on the walkie-talkie, "At the intersection of Garden Road and Xueyuan Road, people are scrambling for free counterfeit goods. Calling for backup. Calling for immediate backup."

Inside the car, Wang Cheng sneered, "Father, Mother, you see? Wang Peng would rather give things away to outsiders than give them to you."

The car door opened, and Li Guifen rushed out, squeezing into the crowd to grab the counterfeit goods.

Wang Song, Wang Cheng, and Wang Weiping hurriedly got off the car, and Wang Song and Wang Weiping also began to scramble for supplies.

Wang Cheng didn't join in; he put his hands in his pockets and stared intently at Wang Peng.

Wang Peng glanced at Wang Song and Li Guifen in the crowd, then looked up and met Wang Song's gaze.

"That damn bastard, I'm going to beat him up." Du Lei rolled up his sleeves, ready to punch Wang Cheng.

"Don't be impulsive." Wang Peng put his arm around his shoulder. "He's the president of Brilliant now, he's powerful and influential, we can't beat him up anymore."

"Damn it, what's so great about a gigolo who climbed the social ladder by relying on women?" Du Lei gritted his teeth.

"My uncle didn't offend you, so don't scold him." Wang Peng smiled slightly, looking at his cousin Wang Weiping in the crowd.

Du Lei was immediately embarrassed. Wang Cheng's uncle was also Peng Ge's uncle, and that old man was very good to Peng Ge.

The Qinghui Supermarket left behind a large number of counterfeit and substandard goods, and as more and more people got the news, they flocked to the area like a tidal wave.

At that moment, the alarm sounded.

The traffic police on duty on Huayuan Road arrived, and so did the local police station.

All police officers formed a human wall and forced the crowd, who were eager to take advantage of others, to line up, and quickly brought the situation under control.

Wang Peng's phone rang. He put the phone to his ear and said, "Hello, this is Wang Peng. Who is this?"

"I'm your boss!" Branch Chief Feng Dali roared into the phone. "Xiao Peng, could you have told me beforehand?"

"Uncle Feng, no, Grandpa Feng," Wang Peng said with a smile, "I'm sorry, I didn't expect the scene to be so intense."

"This is a one-time exception," Feng Dali said helplessly. "Are you really going to give away counterfeit goods for free? How much money would you have to pay in compensation?"

Wang Peng shook his head. "These are all Qinghui's stock. Uncle Feng, I don't sell counterfeit goods."

“Just call me Uncle Feng, calling me ‘Grandpa’ makes me feel old,” Feng Dali said. “You wait here, I’ll arrange for reporters to go over there.”

After hanging up the phone, Wang Peng smiled slightly; this was indeed a good opportunity to advertise.

The Provincial Business Daily is located on Garden Road, and soon, the news van arrived at the scene.

The staff got out of the car and raised their cameras to take pictures. The young female reporter followed Du Lisan to Wang Peng.

Du Lisan said, "Comrade reporter, this is Mr. Wang, the owner of Brothers Tobacco and Liquor Store."

The female reporter shook hands with Wang Peng and said, "I am Chen Hongying, a reporter from the Provincial Business Daily. Mr. Wang, please don't be nervous. I just want to ask you a few simple questions."

Wang Peng smiled and said, "I'm not nervous. Please ask, Comrade Chen."

Chen Hongying said, "Mr. Wang, why don't you hand these counterfeit and shoddy goods over to the relevant departments for processing?"

Wang Peng said, "I have handed over the counterfeit cigarettes, alcohol and other food items to the relevant departments. These are all daily necessities and will not endanger personal safety."
