Chapter 266 The Wife's Dilemma

Hu Qing smiled slightly and said softly, "You don't need to answer me so quickly. I'll give you three days to think it over. Call me again when you've made up your mind."

Wang Peng shook his head. "I'll eat anything, except threats. You don't need to wait three days; I'll tell you the answer now."

“Hu Qing, I don’t accept your proposal. If you want to deal with me, then use your methods,” Wang Peng added.

“No, I mean three days,” Hu Qing said. “After three days, you will change your mind.”

After saying that, she left Wang Peng's Alto, got into her newly purchased Audi, and drove away alone.

Wang Cheng's face was very pale. He told his parents to get in the car and drove straight to the Wenxin Garden residential area.

Back in the neighborhood, he arranged for his parents and Wang Weiping to stay in his apartment.

This house was a gift from Hu Qing to him.

Huang Ran bought two floors here, and Wang Cheng and Hu Qing lived on the upper floor.

"Wow, this house is wonderful." Li Guifen's heart raced as she looked at the luxurious decor.

Wooden floors, snow-white walls, luxurious chandeliers, and solid wood furniture.

The room is fully equipped with a washing machine, refrigerator, and television. The bedroom has a Simmons mattress, and the bathroom has a flush toilet.

Compared to the brick houses and dry toilets in my hometown, this place is paradise; my hometown is a pigsty.

Li Guifen, having forgotten how to walk, asked anxiously, "Second brother, buying this house must cost a lot of money, right?"

Wang Cheng said, "I bought it for 40,000 yuan, and the renovation cost another 40,000 yuan, for a total of 80,000 yuan."

"Eighty thousand?" Li Guifen was completely stunned.

Wang Song asked, "Second brother, what are your plans for Weiping?"

Wang Cheng put his arm around his cousin's shoulder and said, "Brother Weiping, you should go work in the warehouse first. It might be a bit tough, but the salary is five hundred yuan."

"Five hundred yuan?" Wang Weiping was shocked and nodded repeatedly. "I'm not afraid of hard work. No matter how hard it is to build a warehouse, it's not as hard as building a house."

He used to work with his father building houses in the countryside, earning ten yuan a day, or about three hundred yuan a month.

In reality, you don't get 300; it's not like someone is building houses every day.

...

At the college district police station, Feng Dali got into Wang Peng's Alto and handed him a cigarette.

“Uncle Feng, I don’t smoke,” Wang Peng said.

"Call me Uncle Feng," Feng Dali said. "You're a person of some standing, so try not to get into fights in the future."

Wang Peng nodded, saying that the government's control over fighting will only become stricter.

“Hu Qing is an extremely wealthy woman. Wang Cheng must have some skill to be able to seduce her,” Feng Dali said.

"He does have some cleverness, but unfortunately he doesn't use it for good," Wang Peng shook his head.

After a moment, he added, "Hu Qing wants me to divorce my husband and marry her. She gave me three days to consider it, and if I don't agree, she will take action against me."

"Huh?" Feng Dali asked eagerly, "Is this true? Just how charming are you, kid?"

“Of course it’s true.” Wang Peng looked at him. “If you were me, what would you choose?”

"Is that even a question?" Feng Dali patted his chest. "I'll definitely marry her, and I'll instantly become a millionaire, driving a car worth hundreds of thousands."

Wang Peng was a little confused and immediately looked at him with disdain.

"Hehe, just kidding." Feng Dali chuckled awkwardly. "I love my job as a police officer, I don't want to be a millionaire."

He patted Wang Peng on the shoulder and said seriously, "Don't underestimate a woman who hates because of love, and don't underestimate anyone."

"Nonsense about love turning into hate," Wang Peng sneered. "Am I the Renminbi? Does everyone like me?"

Feng Dali shook his head. "If he didn't like you, he wouldn't have said those kinds of things. Don't underestimate him."

Wang Peng frowned.

Old Feng emphasized twice not to underestimate Hu Qing, which shows that Hu Qing has a very strong backing and powerful figures supporting her.

“I’ll go change into my police uniform, then we’ll go have afternoon tea,” Feng Dali said.

"I'll treat you to tea another day." Wang Peng shook his head. "The National Painting Competition officially starts tomorrow, and I'm going to Beijing to accompany Mingzhu to the competition."

"Goodness, you really are a good man. Let's talk another day." Feng Dali patted him on the shoulder, opened the door, and got out of the car.

The father and son waved goodbye, and Wang Peng left the police station, drove onto the highway, and headed straight for Beijing.

I arrived in Beijing at 10 p.m. and met my wife, my parents-in-law, and my brother-in-law, Li Keyong, at the hotel.

The four of them booked two rooms: one for the mother and daughter, and one for the two older brothers.

When Wang Peng arrived, Li Mingzhu went to the front desk to book a standard room.

"You haven't eaten yet, have you? I'll make you some instant noodles," Li Mingzhu said.

"I ate on the highway, honey. I have some interesting news for you," Wang Peng chuckled, recounting Hu Qing's threat.

A moment later, Li Mingzhu lay on the bed laughing wildly, "Haha, that little wench is really interesting."

The laughter was so loud that it disturbed the parents next door.

Wang Peng covered her mouth, "What are you laughing at? Do you think it's funny?"

Li Mingzhu smiled, her eyes crinkling. "My husband is loved by everyone, and Hu Qing, a young married woman, was willing to have an abortion for you. That just shows how charming you are."

"Alright, stop being sarcastic," Wang Peng said. "Are you confident you can win the championship this time?"

“I really don’t have this.” Li Mingzhu opened her handbag and took out a photo.

The photo shows a painting of an old man with sallow skin and a wrinkled face, holding several ears of corn in his hands.

The corn cobs were very small, not much bigger than bananas, with a few sparse kernels on them.

The old man's expression was very strange; he neither cried nor laughed, neither felt sad nor happy, giving people a feeling of numbness and indifference.

Wang Peng carefully observed the old man's expression and asked in confusion, "Is he... on the verge of tears?"
