Chapter 315 Dividing the Money and Fighting

Wang Song sat on the sofa, gritting his teeth in hatred.

He never imagined that his wife of thirty years would divorce him over money.

Judge Li Xinnian took out three documents and handed them to Wang Peng with a smile, saying, "Mr. Wang, please take a look at these three documents first."

The first document is a marriage certificate issued by the Wangcun Village Committee.

The document contains photocopies of Wang Song and Li Guifen's ID cards, marriage certificate, household registration book, and other documents.

After reading it carefully, Wang Peng's lips curled into a cold smile.

It seems Wang Cheng has already used the connections at Brilliant Supermarket; it would be difficult to gather all this information at once.

The second document was issued by the bank, proving that Wang Song withdrew 300,000 yuan in land expropriation compensation funds this morning.

The document details the land acquisition compensation, including the land price, resettlement fees for several people, and monthly compensation amounts.

The third document was a divorce petition, in which Li Guifen applied to the court for divorce and requested the freezing of 300,000 yuan in land expropriation compensation.

After carefully reading it, Wang Peng asked in confusion, "Comrade Li, their registered residence is in Ping'an County. Can they file for divorce in the provincial capital?"

Li Xinnian shook his head. "They're going to file a lawsuit in Ping'an County Court. All we can do is mediate."

“If mediation fails, we will freeze both parties’ marital property. Mr. Wang, do you understand what I mean?” Li Xinnian added.

Wang Peng nodded, then turned to look at Wang Song, "Dad, would you like to have the provincial court mediate?"

Wang Song frowned, and after a long while, he shook his head. "Child, I don't understand these things. I'll listen to you."

“Okay,” Wang Peng said. “Comrade Li, I’ll take the old man to the bank and deposit that 300,000 yuan back into the bank. You can freeze it.”

"Does Mr. Wang mean for the elderly couple to go to court to divide their property?" Li Xinnian asked.

“Yes.” Wang Peng glanced at Li Guifen and her two children, and sneered, “I know what kind of people they are. Mediation is a waste of breath.”

Li Guifen became anxious and said through gritted teeth, "Wang Peng, show some respect. I am your own mother."

“I’m sorry, I don’t have a mother like you,” Wang Peng said. “Wang Cheng, you two leave my house immediately.”

"Brother, shall we go to the bank now and freeze this money?" Wang Cheng said with a smile.

“No problem.” Wang Peng stood up, pointed at Wang Cheng and the other two, “I’ll say it again, leave my house immediately.”

“I’m fine with that too,” Wang Cheng said. “Mom, let’s go outside and wait. There are court officials here; the money won’t get away.”

Li Guifen glared at Wang Peng, then followed Wang Cheng out of the house and waited for Wang Peng to come out at the door.

Du Lei handed the wallet containing the money to Wang Peng and said softly, "Brother Peng, all the money is here."

"Honey, remember to come home for dinner. Don't stay too long," Li Mingzhu said.

"I understand, don't worry." Wang Peng took the money and led Wang Song out of the house.

Both parties got into the courthouse car and went to the nearest bank.

Wang Song looked at his third daughter, Wang Xia, and then at Li Xinnian. "Judge Li, 17,000 yuan of this money is compensation for my third daughter, Wang Xia."

He pointed at Wang Xia and said, "Wang Xia is an adult, this money is not marital property, I want to give the money to her."

Li Xinnian nodded. "That's fine. You can give her the money now."

"No!" Li Guifen said urgently, "Judge Li, this 300,000 yuan is marital property and has nothing to do with Wang Xia."

“Who said it doesn’t matter?” Wang Zhen immediately retorted. “It’s clearly written in the documents that my third sister and I are both on the household registration book, and each of us gets 17,000 yuan.”

"You're talking nonsense! This money belongs to me and your father, it has nothing to do with you!" Li Guifen raised her voice.

"You're talking nonsense! It's clearly written in the documents that 17,000 of my money is in there!" Wang Zhen snapped, her voice even louder than Li Guifen's.

The mother and daughter immediately started arguing, and Li Xinnian couldn't stop them. The argument quickly turned into a shouting match, with the insults being extremely offensive.

A hint of mockery flashed in Wang Peng's eyes. Both mother and daughter were greedy and stingy, and now they were fighting amongst themselves.

The 300,000 yuan was like a mooncake; legally, Li Guifen could only get half, so of course she didn't want Wang Xia and Wang Zhen to have a bite.

Wang Zhen was naturally unhappy, as that was 17,000 yuan, while her monthly salary was only 600 yuan.

The two argued more and more fiercely, and ended up actually fighting each other.

"Haha." Wang Xia couldn't help but laugh out loud, and whispered, "Big brother, it's really shameful to have a mother and sister like this, isn't it?"

Wang Peng didn't feel ashamed at all; he was already numb to it. Ever since his previous life, he had been driven to numbness by these two awful relatives.

"Xiaoxia, stop talking." Wang Song felt ashamed. His wife and daughter were hitting and scolding him, which made him so angry that his face turned red and his neck bulged.

"Oh." Wang Xia gave her father some respect out of consideration for her elder brother.

Onlookers near the bank gathered to watch the spectacle, and even the bank's security guards came over to try and calm things down, causing the crowd to grow larger and larger.

Finally, Li Xinnian lost his temper and immediately called the bailiffs to forcibly separate Li Guifen and Wang Zhen.

Looking at Li Guifen again, her hair was a mess, like a bird's nest, one of her shoes was missing, and two of her buttons were ripped open.

Wang Zhen was in an even worse situation; her nose was bleeding, and she stuffed two wads of tissue paper into it, her face red with anger.

“Brother,” Wang Zhen walked up to Wang Peng, “I’m willing to give our father a thousand yuan. This is for his medical expenses to treat hepatitis C.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Peng smiled slightly. In order to take away the 10,000 yuan, Wang Zhen suddenly became generous.

“Wang Zhen, one thousand yuan isn’t enough to treat the old man’s illness. Please give me another thousand,” Wang Peng said.

"Fine!" Wang Zhen gritted his teeth. "As long as I can get my money back, I'll immediately give Dad two thousand yuan for medical expenses."

"No way! Anyone who dares to touch my money, I'll fight them to the death!" Li Guifen said, and was about to beat Wang Zhen.

Four bailiffs quickly restrained her.

Li Xinnian shouted, "Li Guifen, if you dare to hit someone again, I'll detain you for half a month."

Upon hearing this, Li Guifen immediately became obedient.

She had been detained by the police station before and knew that life in the detention center was not easy.

Li Xinnian said in a deep voice, "Wang Song, you immediately take out 34,000 yuan and divide it among your two daughters."

Wang Song looked up at Wang Peng and gave a bitter smile, "Son, I originally wanted to leave all 300,000 yuan to you, but I never expected..."

“Dad,” Wang Peng said with a smile, “I don’t like being taken advantage of, nor do I like taking advantage of others.”

Wang Song sighed softly, "Alright, I'll leave this to you. You can do whatever you want with it."

He no longer cared how the money was divided, since he had already received his son's forgiveness.

Wang Peng said, "Judge Li, I want to draw up a written agreement with Wang Zhen. How about we go to a coffee shop?"

“We don’t need to go to such a high-end place.” Li Xinnian pointed to the restaurant across the street. “Let’s find a private room and get this over with as soon as possible.”
