Chapter 33 Delivering Takeout

Wang Peng was handpicked by Chen Qingshu to be the class monitor, and his head was buzzing.

However, being the class monitor also has its advantages. Chen Qingshu secretly told him that he could leave the classroom without asking for leave.

The classroom was very quiet as the students were preparing for their lessons.

Li Mengjiao explained the math problems that Wang Peng got wrong on the diagnostic test to him in a very low voice, so as not to disturb the other students.

At nine o'clock in the evening, the bell rang to signal the end of evening self-study. Li Mengjiao, Wang Peng, and Du Lei, who were day students, prepared to leave.

The other students seemed not to hear the bell and remained focused on their studies.

Wang Peng scratched his head. "Are the top classes this competitive?"

The key point is that studying late into the night is not very efficient.

If I don't get a good night's rest, it's hard to concentrate in class the next day; it feels like the classroom is the most important place.

"Brother Peng, shall we study a little longer?" Du Lei whispered.

Wang Peng shook his head, got up and walked to the podium.

"The students are really hardworking, but they need to take care of their health. I think it's necessary to supplement their nutrition."

"Anyone who wants to eat my golden fried rice can sign up now, it's only one yuan a serving."

"I'll take you to your classrooms or dormitories later. Just to emphasize, for now, I'll only take you to the boys' dormitories."

After saying that, Wang Peng took out a pen from his pocket.

Laughter erupted in the classroom. Du Lei was dumbfounded. Could business really be done like this?

"Class monitor, I need one. Bring it to my classroom." Chen Xiaojing rubbed her stomach. "I'm really hungry."

"Thank you, Xiao Jing. I wish you become more and more beautiful." Wang Peng wrote down her name and walked over to her to collect a dollar.

A chubby boy took out a dollar and said, "Class monitor, I want one too. Send it to dormitory 306."

"No problem, thanks for your support." Wang Peng smiled as he took the money and wrote down the man's name and dormitory address.

In a short while, he received eight orders, then went to the second class next door and went straight to the podium.

"Hello everyone, I'm Wang Peng from Class 1. Anyone want some fried rice with eggs? I'll deliver it to your door for free."

"Hello, students of Class 3..."

Wang Peng visited six classrooms and received thirty orders, which was a lot, so he didn't dare to go to other classes to promote his products.

He left the teaching building and went to the boys' dormitory to find Du Lei, who had already taken off his clothes and gone to sleep.

"Brother Lei, why are you sleeping so early? Do you have time to deliver takeout to me?"

"Are you serious?" Du Lei immediately got out of bed, put on his clothes, and said, "Let's go, we're brothers after all."

The two brothers arrived outside the school gate. Wang Peng used two woks to fry rice, first frying ten portions and handing them to Li Fang to pack.

"Pengdi, you're really sharp!" Li Fang was also surprised, as food delivery was a blind spot for her.

Wang Peng chuckled and pulled out a list for Du Lei, saying, "Brother Lei, you've worked hard. Hurry up and deliver the food. You won't regret it."

“Okay, I think it’s quite interesting.” Du Lei walked into the school gate carrying ten servings of fried rice in both hands.

Wang Peng watched his retreating figure and considered whether he should get a delivery box.

The second batch of ten fried rice dishes were ready, but Du Lei still hadn't returned.

"Pengdi, I'll deliver it." Li Fang had already finished packing and put the takeout into a plastic bag.

"Wait for Du Lei, these will all be delivered to the boys' dormitory." Wang Peng shook his head.

"Do you deliver to the girls' dormitory?" Li Fang asked with a smile. "I can go into the girls' dormitory."

Wang Peng shook his head again, "You stay and watch the food cart. We're not doing takeout for the girls' dormitory for now."

The third batch of ten fried rice dishes was ready when Du Lei finally returned, and the two brothers went into the school together to deliver the meals.

Wang Peng went to Class 1's classroom first and delivered eight bowls of fried rice according to the list.

"Xiao Jing, how late do you plan to work? Aren't you going home to sleep?" Wang Peng said.

"Let's go back after we finish eating." Chen Xiaojing picked up her spoon and started eating. "Mmm, the rice you fried is really delicious."

“I like hearing that.” Wang Peng took out a one-yuan coin and put it into her pencil case. “This takeout is free. Do me a small favor and tell me Li Mengjiao’s address.”

“Without her help, I probably wouldn’t have made it into the honors class. Tomorrow I’ll buy some gifts and go with my cousin to thank her,” Wang Peng added.

The moment the topic of free food and drinks came up, Chen Xiaojing was wide awake. She tore off a piece of paper, wrote down her address, and said, "You're too kind. It's only right for classmates to help each other out."

Shen Dongsheng laughed and said, "No matter who helps whom, you can't take it for granted. You have to repay the favor."

Chen Xiaojing handed the note to Wang Peng. "This is my home address. Come find me tomorrow, and then I'll take you to your second uncle's house."

"I mainly wanted to freeload a meal; my second aunt's fried eggs were just too delicious." Chen Xiaojing licked her lips.

"Good heavens!" Wang Peng almost couldn't hold back.

This girl has mastered the essence of getting something for free and will never let go of any opportunity to do so.

However, she would be the best person to guide you, as it would be rather abrupt for a stranger to suddenly show up at your door.

Wang Peng made a profit of 18 yuan from 30 servings of fried rice. He wrapped 4 yuan in a piece of paper as a reward for Du Lei's hard work.

After delivering the takeout, he went to Du Lei's dormitory.

Since Du Lei wasn't there, Wang Peng left the hard-earned money on his bed and went to the gate to help his cousin pack up the stall.

A dozen minutes later, Du Lei returned to his dormitory and found a package containing four yuan worth of manuscript paper.

The note read, "Please accept this as a token of my appreciation, Brother Lei. It's not much, but it's a small token of my goodwill."

"Good heavens, four yuan is my food expenses for two days." Du Lei said, both amused and exasperated.

The next morning, Wang Peng went to the People's Department Store, spent 42 yuan to buy a case of Jianlibao (a popular Chinese herbal tea brand), and 30 yuan to buy ten jin (5 kg) of eggs.

Walking home, I found Chen Xiaojing sitting in the yard chatting with her cousin.

"Good grief, the address you wrote down is useless again," Wang Peng complained to her.
