Chapter 337 Finding the Rumor Monger

Wang Peng and Li Mingzhu strolled around the supermarket.

The supermarket was packed with people, and the most popular area was the residential section, where a large group of middle-aged and elderly women were queuing up to buy groceries.

"Hello, ma'am." Wang Peng greeted an elderly woman with white hair.

"Young man, speak louder, I'm hard of hearing." The old woman grinned, revealing only a few teeth in her mouth.

"Excuse me, ma'am, why are you buying groceries at Brothers Supermarket? Why don't you go to the farmers' market?" Wang Peng raised his voice.

The old lady started talking, "The vegetable market is terrible. The cabbage leaves outside are rotten, and they won't let me pick them. They insist on selling me rotten leaves."

"This place is good. Look at this cabbage, only the heart is left. For the same price, of course I'll come here," the old lady said, pointing to the cabbages on the shelf.

Wang Peng looked at the cabbage that only had the heart left and said with a smile, "Buy a few more, the vegetables here are all fresh."

The old lady smiled broadly and said, "I come here to buy groceries every day."

Wang Peng left the living area and went to the beverage area, where there were even more people and the staff were too busy to keep up.

A young girl recognized Wang Peng and said with a smile, "Boss Wang Peng, I'm a college student from Ping'an County, and my family is from Macun."

Wang Peng was taken aback. Ma Village was next to Wang Village. He quickly asked, "Hello, young lady, which school do you go to?"

The girl said, "I'm at the Industrial University, Peng-ge. Ping'an County has changed a lot in the past two years. Have you gone back to see it?"

Wang Peng shook his head. "I really don't have time to go back. Tell me, how much has our county changed?"

The girl said, "A new star-rated hotel and a new garment factory have opened in the county, and many people are coming to our county to work."

The girl was very talkative, and the two chatted for more than ten minutes before Wang Peng took Li Mingzhu back to his office.

Li Mingzhu said, "Honey, Chen Mengchang is either hiding in a hotel or in a clothing factory, but it's more likely he's hiding in the clothing factory."

Wang Peng nodded and asked, "What did Mengjiao's private investigator say?"

“He is investigating with all his might. He also suspects that Chen Mengchang is hiding in the garment factory. The female student just said that there are many people from other places in the garment factory,” Li Mingzhu said.

Early the next morning, the two cars drove to Ping'an County.

Wang Peng was in the first car, along with Du Lei and Li Keyong.

Upon arriving in Ping'an County, the group checked into a star-rated hotel.

Wang Peng and Li Ke shared a room, looking at the luxurious room and marveling at how much Ping'an County had indeed changed.

Li Keyong looked at the street below and smiled slightly, "Xiao Peng, have you ever considered opening a shop back in your hometown?"

"Should I open Brother Supermarket back in my hometown? I've been thinking about that." Wang Peng nodded.

I just walked around the busiest part of Huanghe Road, and there wasn't a single large shopping mall, just traditional small shops.

There was a knock on the door. Li Keyong opened it and saw Sun Minglei, Li Mengjiao's private investigator.

The man was in his thirties, dressed in a suit and carrying a briefcase.

“Boss Wang, I have confirmed that Chen Mengchang is at the garment factory,” Sun Minglei said.

"Go see him tomorrow." Wang Peng took out a photo of Chen Mengchang and handed it to Sun Minglei. "Is this the person?"

Sun Minglei took the photo and nodded. "That's him."

“However, the garment factory is under closed management. I don’t have a work permit from the factory, so the security guards won’t let me in,” Sun Minglei added.

"We'll go tomorrow. You go back and rest first." Wang Peng patted him on the shoulder. "Mr. Sun, thank you."

The next morning, two cars arrived at Delong Garment Factory and drove around the factory.

The factory covers an area of about 800 acres, with five large factory buildings and a very impressive gate.

Several large trucks lined up to pick up the clothing, and a dozen security guards stood watch at the gate.

Wang Peng and his group got out of the car, but before they even reached the main gate, they were stopped by four security guards.

The middle-aged security guard in the lead asked, "Who are you looking for?"

Wang Peng offered them cigarettes and smiled slightly, "I'm in the clothing business and would like to meet your manager."

Chen Kaiguo looked Wang Peng up and down. "Give me a business card, and I'll call the sales manager."

Wang Peng took out a business card and handed it to him. It only had his name and phone number on it, and no other information.

"Your business card is really interesting. What kind of business do you run?" Chen Kaiguo pressed.

“I run two supermarkets in the provincial capital, and Brother Supermarket is my store,” Wang Peng replied.

"Brothers Supermarket? The one that just caught fire a while ago?" Chen Kaiguo scratched his head and asked again, "Does your supermarket sell clothes too?"

Du Lei couldn't help but interject, "Brother, you probably don't know yet, but the people who burned Brother's Supermarket have already been executed."

Upon hearing this, Chen Kaiguo's expression changed. He turned around, went back to the security room, and picked up the phone to make a call.

A few minutes later, he came out of the security room, returned the business card to Wang Peng, and said, "Our boss is very busy, you can come another day."

"Come back another day" was a polite way of declining; the clothing factory owner probably didn't want to see him, perhaps because he felt that Brother Supermarket's sales volume was too small.

Seeing that he wasn't leaving, Chen Kaiguo said, "The boss said that a supermarket isn't a clothing store; it can't sell many clothes in a year."

Wang Peng shook his head. "Could you ask him again? I'd like to meet with the boss."

“No, the boss said that himself, we can’t ask anymore,” Chen Kaiguo said.

"Tell the boss I'd like to visit your production workshop," Wang Peng said, frowning slightly as he turned to look at Sun Minglei.

Chen Kaiguo waved his hand and shook his head, "The boss doesn't want to see you, sorry."

After saying that, he returned to the security room with four security guards and refused to receive Wang Peng and the others.

Wang Peng laughed in exasperation. This garment factory was indeed quite large, and the boss was certainly powerful. Refusing to meet was going too far.
