In the hotel's luxurious room, Chen Mengchang yawned repeatedly and glared fiercely at Wang Peng.
"You spend your days hunting geese, only to have your eyes pecked by swallows. Wang Peng, you have no sportsmanship; you actually tampered with my drink?"
Wang Peng chuckled lightly, "If I were you, I wouldn't drink any beverage the enemy gave me, even if it was a freshly opened can."
"Hmph!" Chen Mengchang sneered and then yawned deeply.
"Mr. Chen, in the end, it was your own carelessness."
Wang Peng glanced at his watch. "It's midnight. You should get some sleep. The provincial police station will be here at eight o'clock tomorrow morning."
"Sleep then, who's afraid of who?" Chen Mengchang took off his shoes, but didn't take off his socks or wash his feet, and lay down on the bed to sleep.
There was a stench of feet in the room. Wang Peng smiled slightly and turned to go to the next room.
Du Lei and Sun Minglei immediately took turns guarding the door, and their job was to prevent Chen Mengchang from escaping before the police arrived at eight o'clock tomorrow.
In the luxurious suite next door, Li Keyong asked, "Did he confess?"
“He confessed,” Wang Peng said. “The mastermind behind it all is Liu Yunlai, the major shareholder of Brilliant. He directly contacted Chen Mengchang and Wang Cheng…”
“Wang Cheng won’t show up, and logically speaking, Liu Yunlai shouldn’t show up directly either,” Li Keyong said with a puzzled look.
Wang Peng nodded. If he were to handle this matter himself, he wouldn't contact Chen Mengchang directly; it would be better to find an agent.
Li Keyong said, "Liu Yunlai took away Hu Qing's shares; he's probably gotten too arrogant."
“Yes, that’s what I think too,” Wang Peng said. “Uncle, will Liu Yunlai and Chen Mengchang be sentenced for spreading rumors?”
“Chen Mengchang will definitely go to jail, but Liu Yunlai might not. Currently, he is more powerful than you,” Li Keyong said.
"Hmph." Wang Peng sneered, "Even if Liu Yunlai doesn't go to jail, I'll still make him suffer."
The air was quiet. Li Keyong opened a bottle of "Poor" and casually handed it to him.
The father and son sat facing each other; one didn't want to sleep, and the other was afraid to sleep, so they just sat there chatting.
Wang Peng began to consider a membership system, a system commonly used in later generations, where customers are invited to recharge their accounts and become members, in which they can enjoy discounts and other preferential activities.
Supermarkets in the provincial capital didn't have this concept yet, but he had this idea for a long time, and now was the perfect time to let Huihuang Supermarket shed its skin.
Li Keyong said, "How do you plan to deal with Huihuang Supermarket? I suggest you don't rush it."
“As long as Brilliant doesn’t learn your business model, it will definitely be devoured by you; it’s only a matter of time,” Li Keyong added.
“Let’s speed things up. I plan to launch a membership system and take down the Brilliant flagship store first,” Wang Peng said.
"A membership system? Tell me about it." Li Keyong perked up.
The father and son talked until 2 a.m., and both were starting to feel the strain.
Li Keyong yawned. "The membership system is great, but the Brilliant flagship store can't handle it. You should go to sleep."
Wang Peng went back to his room to sleep and slept until nine o'clock in the morning, when he was awakened by a knock on the door.
"Brother Peng, Comrade Hu is here." Du Lei's voice came from outside the door.
"Okay." Wang Peng stretched, threw off the covers, got out of bed, and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face.
When he finally saw Hu Juan, a sleepy-looking Chen Mengchang was already handcuffed and taken away in a plainclothes police car by two plainclothes officers.
There was also a police car parked nearby. Judging from the license plate, it belonged to the Ping'an County Public Security Bureau. It must have been Hu Juan who notified them.
After the police car left, Hu Juan shook hands with Wang Peng, "Boss Wang, thank you this time."
"You're welcome." Wang Peng smiled slightly, recalling the scene when the two first met.
Back then, when Wang Song and Li Guifen were fighting, Hu Juan was very arrogant and always finding fault with everything. Now she's much more gentle.
Hu Juan said, "We haven't even found out where he's hiding, and you beat us to it. Are you more efficient than us?"
Wang Peng said with a smile, "Stepmother, Mingyue told me that after we catch Chen Mengchang, you'll go on a date with Old Wang?"
"Pah, don't call me that." Hu Juan glared at him. "I'm not even close to your father yet, or I'll sue you for spreading rumors too."
“Old Wang is actually a decent person. His mental fog in the past was due to the influence of Li Guifen,” Wang Peng said.
“I can figure out whether he’s good or not myself, you don’t need to teach me.” Hu Juan turned around and went back to the car, waving to Wang Peng.
"Stepmother, ride in my Audi, it's comfortable," Wang Peng said with a smile.
The car window was immediately closed, and Hu Juan's car started immediately, driving far away in the blink of an eye.
Li Keyong walked up to him and said with a smile, "I think he and Lao Wang have a chance."
"Oh?" Wang Peng became interested and asked, "Why?"
"Because you are Wang Peng, because you are the owner of Brothers Supermarket, let's go." Li Ke patted him on the shoulder.
That was a very sophisticated statement. Wang Peng got into the car, fastened his seatbelt, and accelerated to chase after Hu Juan's car.
His car was a Hongqi, which had poor shock absorption and speed, and was quickly overtaken by the Audi.
Wang Peng did not overtake, but followed behind the Hongqi, all the way to the provincial capital.
The two parted ways on Garden Road. Wang Peng went to Brothers Supermarket No. 2 and asked Li Keyong to drive him home.
Hu Qing walked out of the supermarket, her little leather shoes clicking as she approached him. "Pengpeng, how did things go?"
"May you achieve immediate success." Seeing her stylish attire and radiant face, Wang Peng smiled slightly. "Something good happening?"
"Hmm." Hu Qing gestured towards Huihuang, "They've started layoffs. Old Ma, a long-time employee in the warehouse department, was laid off yesterday. There used to be more than forty people in the warehouse, but now only fifteen are left."
Layoffs meant business was bad, but Hu Qing was in a good mood. "Old Ma called me; he wants to work for us."
Wang Peng shook his head. "Leave personnel matters to Mingzhu. I don't want to get involved."
