7:50 a.m.
Wang Peng stood by the office window, looking down at the sea of people below.
Below, a sea of heads, a dense, dark mass, was dizzying to look at.
Li Mingzhu chuckled and said softly, "Let Du Lei handle the ribbon-cutting. There are too many people; it's dangerous."
Wang Peng scratched his head and muttered to himself, "Goodness, the number of people at the previous two openings combined didn't even reach this level."
He looked at the roads on both sides and saw that many cars were stuck in traffic, with cars and people squeezed together.
Cars can't get out, and people can't get in.
Li Mingzhu said with a smile, "You've given everyone a 10% discount, so there's bound to be a lot of people."
She picked up Wang Peng's phone and called Du Lei.
"Lei Zi, it's Ming Zhu."
"Sister-in-law, I'm right at the door, I'll hang up now."
Knock knock, a knock sounded at the door.
Immediately afterwards, the door opened, and Du Lei rushed in.
He hurriedly asked, "Sister-in-law, what do you need me for?"
Li Mingzhu said, "You go cut the ribbon. There are too many people downstairs. I don't want Brother Peng to go."
Du Lei scratched his head and said softly, "This isn't appropriate, is it? Director Hu and the comrades from the district are already waiting downstairs."
For the opening ceremony, Wang Peng invited leaders from the college district, as well as his father's girlfriend, Hu Juan.
At this moment, many volunteers wearing red armbands emerged from downstairs.
There were police officers and staff from district departments who were responsible for guiding the crowd.
Wang Peng took the phone from his wife's hand and said softly, "I'm going to the ribbon-cutting ceremony. You wait for me here."
Li Mingzhu knew she couldn't refuse, so she could only nod.
Wang Peng and Du Lei arrived at the main entrance on the first floor.
"Mr. Wang, no supermarket in the whole country is as popular as your brother supermarket."
"I've really seen something new today. Brother Supermarket is practically becoming a tourist attraction in our provincial capital."
"Yes, many tourists from other places come here because of its reputation."
The leaders showered Wang Peng with praise, their faces beaming with joy.
It's a very happy thing to cut the ribbon for a company like this.
Wang Peng smiled and shook hands with them, repeatedly saying, "Thank you for coming."
When he shook hands with Hu Juan, he smiled and said, "Mom, thank you for coming. I'll give you half a free meal card."
"Pah! Who's your mother?" Hu Juan glared at him fiercely, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"Haha!" The leaders all laughed, and the scene was filled with joy.
"Comrade Xiaopeng, shall we begin?" Feng Dali said.
"Please, go ahead." Wang Peng hurriedly handed him a pair of scissors and asked him to preside over the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Feng Dali took the initiative and immediately organized everyone to get started.
He used to be the head of the college branch, and now he is the second-in-command of the college district, rising step by step.
At 8 o'clock sharp, Du Lei gave a shout, and the drum and gong team immediately started playing drums and gongs.
Firecrackers crackled at the scene as Wang Peng and others successfully cut the ribbon.
He immediately led the guests into the supermarket.
A flood of people poured in, and security guards worked with the police to maintain order.
Hu Juan lost interest in shopping at the supermarket and immediately led the people from her office to guide the crowd.
Her biggest fear is a stampede.
If something goes wrong, everyone, including Wang Peng's brother supermarket, will suffer the consequences.
Wang Peng looked at the people being let in, many of whom were elderly.
He couldn't help but scratch his head and whispered, "There are too many people. We can't offer discounts anymore."
Feng Dali smiled and said, "Xiao Peng, the district has decided to list your brother supermarket as a key enterprise for support."
"Great news!" Wang Peng said with a smile, "Are there any policies for me?"
“Of course there are, for example, we can help you pay less tax,” Feng Dali said.
"Great! Thank you for your concern, leader." Wang Peng was a little happy; paying taxes was indeed a major expense for his brother.
Soon, the supermarket was packed with people, pushing shopping carts everywhere.
Especially in the vegetable section, the heat-shrinked tomatoes were snapped up as soon as they were put on the shelves.
Just then, Du Lei's voice came through the walkie-talkie: "Brother Peng, it's no use, the upstairs is full."
“This won’t do,” Wang Peng said hurriedly. “Arrange for crowd control immediately.”
He immediately called security guard Lin Shun.
Lin Shun immediately arranged for people to block the door, and shouted loudly with an electric megaphone.
"Comrades, there are too many people in the supermarket. Please line up and wait for the comrades inside to come out before the comrades outside go in."
Several security guards kept shouting through a loudspeaker, over and over again.
Wang Peng was a bit too bold; he never expected the opening day to be so popular that it had to be limited to accommodate a large number of people.
"Haha!" Feng Dali laughed and said, "Goodness, this is the first time I've ever seen a store so crowded."
Just then, a commotion broke out outside.
"Tell the people inside to come out quickly, I've been waiting for over an hour."
"That's right, hurry up and let them out."
"Is it really this difficult to buy something? Isn't this just wasting everyone's time?"
The area outside was bustling with noise, and the security guards and volunteers were sweating profusely as they tried to explain the situation to the crowd.
Suddenly, someone shouted, "Bring out Boss Wang Peng and give everyone an explanation!"
"Yes! We must give everyone an explanation."
"We came here to support him, and he expects us to just wait outside? Let Boss Wang come out and explain."
"Boss Wang, Boss Wang..."
The crowd outside had actually organized themselves and were calling out for Wang Peng.
Wang Peng was somewhat stunned, never expecting things to develop to this point.
He strode toward the door.
Feng Dali grabbed him and hurriedly said, "Don't go out, don't provoke them."
Wang Peng smiled slightly and said, "They're here to support me, not to cause trouble, so it's fine."
