Wang Peng felt a chill run down his spine as he carried a half-full sack of dog meat to Du Dayang's house.
When Du Dandan saw Wang Peng, she instinctively hid behind Hu Mingyue.
"Brother, what are you holding?" Hu Mingyue pointed at the bloodstains on the bag, her doe eyes wide with surprise.
"Zhang Tieying's son works for Brother Du. Uncle Du, he's bringing you some dog meat." Wang Peng placed the dog meat at the entrance of the main room.
Du Dayang glanced at the dog meat in the bag and licked his lips.
Hu Mingyue chuckled, already guessing that the dog meat was definitely a gift from Zhang Tieying's son to Wang Peng.
"Uncle Du, we have to go back now." Hu Mingyue held Du Dandan's hand. "Dandan, I'll come visit you another day."
Du Dandan looked at her, moved her lips, and lowered her head without saying a word.
Wang Peng took out his business card and handed it to Du Dayang, "Uncle Du, if you need to contact me, just call the number on this business card."
"Okay." Du Haiyang hurriedly put the business card in his pocket and saw Wang Peng and Hu Mingyue out.
Hu Mingyue waved to Du Dandan from the car: "Dandan, I'll come see you another day."
As the car left Duzhuang, Wang Peng slowly drove to the Langxian Hotel. The matter was over, and he was in a good mood.
"Brother, you seem to be in a good mood. Is there some good news?" Du Dandan asked with a smile.
Wang Peng didn't say anything and continued to concentrate on driving.
His phone suddenly rang, and just as he took it out, Hu Mingyue snatched it away.
“It’s not safe to answer the phone while driving, you said it yourself.” Hu Mingyue smiled slightly and put the phone to her ear.
Wang Peng is not used to the fact that his mobile phone doesn't have caller ID.
"Hello," Hu Mingyue said.
"Hello comrade, isn't this Wang Peng's cell phone?"
"Peng is driving. I'm his sister. Do you have something important to say?" Hu Mingyue glanced at Wang Peng. "Should I ask him to pull over?"
"No need. Sister Mingyue, I am Wang Peng's third sister, Wang Xia." Wang Xia knew that Hu Mingyue was her future stepmother's daughter, and they would soon be sisters.
The two started chatting as if phone calls were free.
Wang Peng glanced at her sideways and continued driving slowly.
Hu Mingyue and Wang Xia chatted happily, but as they talked, the way she looked at Wang Peng changed.
Wang Peng also noticed the change in her eyes.
A few minutes later, Hu Mingyue hung up the phone, turned to look at Wang Peng, and suddenly burst out laughing.
"Hu Mingyue, what are you laughing at?" Wang Peng asked in a deep voice, "Has your mental illness relapsed?"
"Brother! Hehe..." Hu Mingyue laughed, clutching her stomach.
"Nonsense." Wang Peng put his phone in his pocket and continued driving.
Hu Mingyue laughed for a long time before finally managing to hold back her laughter.
"That was Wang Xia on the phone just now. She asked me to tell you that Sister-in-law Mengjiao's flight is at 5:30 pm the day after tomorrow, hehe..."
At this point, Hu Mingyue said, "Brother, you're such a womanizer! You actually found me two sisters-in-law?"
Wang Peng was taken aback, slowed down slightly, and gently shook his head.
He didn't consider himself a womanizer or someone who engaged in promiscuous relationships. As for Li Mengjiao and Hu Qing...
"Sigh! It's hard to say." Wang Peng shook his head. "My relationship with Mengjiao is too complicated to explain in three days and three nights. I don't want to talk about it."
He was feeling down, frowning as he looked at the road ahead.
"Brother," Hu Mingyue said softly, no longer daring to laugh, "You rest for a bit, I'll drive."
Wang Peng parked his car on the side of the road, but instead of getting out, he closed his eyes to rest.
"Mingyue, do you also think I'm a womanizer?" He turned to look at Hu Mingyue.
"No, it's all because Sister Mingzhu spoils you too much," Hu Mingyue said softly. "She doesn't seem to care that you have other women outside."
Wang Peng was taken aback, then nodded slightly. It seemed that Mingzhu really wouldn't get angry over something like this.
“If I were Mingzhu’s sister-in-law, I would never let you have affairs outside. You must only have me as your woman.”
Hu Mingyue crossed her arms, her face full of arrogance.
"Hehe." Wang Peng started the car and said, "Let's not bring this up again."
He drove back to the hotel, where everyone had a meal together before heading back to the provincial capital the next day.
Upon returning to the Wenxin residential area in the provincial capital, Wang Peng immediately called Du Lei over.
In the study, Wang Peng recounted in detail his trip to Lang County, including how he handled the dispute over the hit-and-run of the stray dog and his encounter with Du Dandan.
After listening carefully, Li Mingzhu sneered: "If it weren't for Du Lisan's influence, Zhang Tieying would have to go to jail."
Du Lei hurriedly said, "Sister-in-law is right. She takes advantage of being a local to extort money from outsiders. That kind of person is the most despicable."
Li Mingzhu nodded: "She asked for two thousand yuan right off the bat. Goodness, she really dares to ask for that much."
"Honey, don't get angry over such a small thing," Wang Peng quickly advised her.
"Hmm." Li Mingzhu chuckled softly and yawned, "Honey, I'm a little sleepy."
"Let me help you." Wang Peng helped her to the bedroom and gently closed the door.
He hesitated for a moment, then whispered, "Mengjiao is returning to China at 5:30 pm tomorrow. She said she's handling some business matters and asked me to pick her up at the airport."
Li Mingzhu was stunned for a moment, then chuckled: "Why don't you just bring her to live with us? I'm so bored every day, she'll keep me company and help me keep me company."
Before he could finish speaking, Wang Peng's eyes widened. "What do you mean? You're letting her stay here?"
"Husband, don't you want to?" Li Mingzhu chuckled, looking at Wang Peng with a half-smile.
Wang Peng felt embarrassed by her gaze, scratched his head, and chuckled.
Li Mingzhu said softly, "When we get to England, I want to stay at her house too. Brother, you're getting a good deal."
As she said this, she reached out and touched Wang Peng's face, her expression like that of an adult catching a child stealing candy.
After finishing, the old man blushed and said with a smile, "I know, you are the one who loves me the most."
"Pah, you're acting innocent after getting the benefit." Li Mingzhu said with a smile, "Go and greet Du Lei, business is more important."
Wang Peng kissed her forehead, closed the bedroom door, and turned to go to the study.
"Brother Peng, my analysis was completely wrong." Du Lei said, his face flushed and extremely embarrassed, "I've led you astray too."
"It's none of your business. Du Lisan has a strange temper and never plays by the rules."
Wang Peng said, "Brother Lei, he's planning to invest one million. Has our insurance compensation arrived yet?"
Du Lei's eyes widened immediately. "Brother, you guys invested two million to take down Wang Cheng's No. 5 store? Isn't that going too far?"
Wang Peng shook his head: "Answer my question first, has the one million yuan compensation been received?"
"It's in the account," Du Lei said hurriedly. "It just arrived yesterday."
Wang Peng smiled slightly. He had waited so long, until the flowers had withered, and finally, he had received this million yuan.
"Brother Lei, you should visit Du Lisan tomorrow and represent me in negotiations with him."
Du Lei scratched his head. "This is a huge matter. I'm afraid I can't handle it. Have you been very busy lately?"
"Mengjiao will be back tomorrow. I have more important things to do," Wang Peng said.
