Wang Peng saw Du Lei in the living room, nodded to him, and then turned to go to the bathroom to wash his face.
"Lei Zi," Li Mingzhu said gently as she walked out of the bedroom, "how are things between you and Shi Shi?"
"We broke up." Du Lei smiled bitterly and shook his head: "She's so arrogant, she doesn't even look at me."
Li Mingzhu was taken aback and a question arose in her mind. Du Lei, now the president of Brothers Supermarket, was actually being disliked by Dong Shishi.
It's important to know that Dong Shishi only owns five percent of the shares in Brothers Supermarket, while Du Lei owns more.
"Brother Lei, what exactly happened?" Hu Mingyue moved a stool over and sat down, looking very curious.
Du Lei shook his head and remained silent.
“Hehe, I knew even if you didn’t say it,” Hu Mingyue said. “Sister Shishi has helped the foreigner. I heard that the foreigner is a nobleman from London.”
Upon hearing this, Li Mingzhu immediately frowned. What the hell was this "London aristocracy"? Relatives of the Queen of England?
“Mingyue, you’re not a scammer, are you?” She shook her head. “Only those who can’t make it in Europe come here to make a living.”
“Then I don’t know,” Hu Mingyue said. “I only know that he is Charles, a foreign teacher at the Teachers’ College, and has a 2,000-square-meter manor in London.”
Wang Peng came out of the restroom, sat down opposite Du Lei, and said with a smile, "What are you two talking about?"
Hu Mingyue immediately told her about Charles's affair.
"Honey, I suspect he's a conman trying to scam Shishi out of her money," Li Mingzhu said. "Why don't you call Mengjiao and ask her to check it out?"
Wang Peng immediately took out his phone, then put it back in his pocket; Meng Jiao was still on the plane.
Li Mingzhu was taken aback, then chuckled: "I forgot, it really is true that pregnancy makes you stupid for three years."
Wang Peng looked at Du Lei, then at Hu Mingyue, and said, "Brother Lei, shall I introduce you to a girlfriend?"
"No need." Du Lei hurriedly waved his hand. "I don't have the time or the mood right now. I just want to focus on my career."
"A career is a lifelong endeavor, there's no rush." Wang Peng turned to Hu Mingyue: "Mingyue, what do you think of Du Lei?"
Hu Mingyue was taken aback, her face flushed red, she glared at Wang Peng reproachfully, and got up to go into the study.
Du Lei blushed and quickly waved his hand.
“I think they’re a good match,” Li Mingzhu said. “Leizi, I have a good eye for people. Mingyue is a good girl.”
"Sister-in-law," Du Lei said with a wry smile, "it's precisely because she's a good girl that I feel unworthy of her."
Hearing this, Li Mingzhu stopped talking about the topic. She chatted with Du Lei for a few more minutes before getting up to go to the study to take care of her son.
Since it wasn't convenient to talk in the living room, Wang Peng led him to the guest room, opened a drawer, took out a pack of cigarettes, and tossed it to him.
The cigarettes were the best, and Du Lei didn't stand on ceremony with him: "Brother Peng, our application to go to the Brilliant District has been blocked by the district, and the approval has not been granted."
Wang Peng frowned. The entire provincial capital was attracting investment, but Huihuang District was refusing to let capital in. This was very strange.
"What caused you to get stuck?" Wang Peng asked, puzzled.
"They said that the supermarket we invested three million to build is the largest supermarket in the province, and they want to hold a meeting to discuss it."
Du Lei sighed softly and said, "After all, this has never happened before, so they need to assess the risks."
Wang Peng shook his head. "Keep following up. Let me know as soon as you have any news."
Du Lei replied, "Mr. Xu from the winery has tentatively agreed to invest one million yuan. He wants 30% of the shares. Is that okay?"
“No,” Wang Peng said. “Give him twenty at most, and also twenty for Du Lisan. You go and negotiate.”
"Okay." Du Lei said, "Brother Peng, there's nothing else to arrange for work."
Wang Peng thought about it carefully, then shook his head: "What do you think of Mingyue?"
Du Lei was taken aback, then gave a wry smile, lowered his head, and said nothing more.
Wang Peng also realized that he still had feelings for Dong Shishi and was hoping that she would change her mind.
It's not impossible that Dong Shishi will miss Du Lei's kindness only if she suffers a great loss and runs into a wall with foreigners.
"Brother Peng, Boss Xu has told me twice that he wants to talk to you."
Du Lei gave a wry smile. "He knows you've been busy lately, but I think he's a little unhappy. Once is never enough."
"I'll give him a call and ask her out for dinner." Wang Peng took out his phone and dialed Boss Xu's number.
A few minutes later, he hung up the phone and drove to the Shili Xiang Western Restaurant.
The two brothers had just sat down when they saw Dong Shishi and a young white man walk in.
The white man had a typical English face, spoke English with a heavy English accent, and was a bit taller than Du Lei.
When Dong Shishi saw Wang Peng, she quickly brought Charles over and said, "Brother Peng, hello."
"Hello to you too," Wang Peng said with a smile. "Let me introduce your friend, this is..."
“Brother Peng, this is my friend Charles. His family runs a winery in England.”
With a fawning smile, Dong Shishi introduced Wang Peng to Charles.
A hint of disdain flashed in Charles's eyes as he shook hands with Wang Peng perfunctorily: "Your brother's supermarket is doing very well."
"Thank you." Wang Peng gestured to the chair next to him, inviting him to sit down and talk.
“But your supermarket is very small. Our Charles family will find a supermarket that is much bigger than your three stores combined,” Charles said.
"Hehe, you're quite arrogant. If you're so great, why did you come here to be a foreign teacher?" Wang Peng spoke to him directly in English.
Charles was taken aback, then stared straight at him: "Because I love traveling, and I want to experience life here. Mr. Wang, I'm a man who likes to tell the truth."
"Darling, don't talk nonsense." Dong Shishi hurriedly grabbed his hand, afraid that Wang Peng would be embarrassed in front of Charles and then take his anger out on her.
"Hmph!" Charles said dismissively, staring at Wang Peng. "I hope I won't offend you by telling the truth."
Wang Peng shook his head and noticed something interesting: Dong Shishi hadn't looked at Du Lei once from beginning to end.
It seems that her three or four years of relationship with Du Lei has become worthless at this moment.
Du Lei's face looked rather grim as he stared at his phone screen, his hands trembling slightly.
Wang Peng decided to stand up for his good friend and asked with a smile, "Is your family's supermarket in London? What's it called?"
“Let’s call it Charles Supermarket,” Charles said. “My family’s winery is Charles Winery, which covers more than a thousand acres.”
"Wow!" Wang Peng gave him a thumbs up, guessing that Li Mengjiao had already gotten off the plane, so he took out his phone to call her.
After the call connected, the two chatted for a few minutes, and Wang Peng asked with a smile, "Isn't there a Charles Winery in England with over a thousand acres? And a few Charles Supermarkets that are three times the size of mine?"
Upon hearing this, a look of panic flashed across Charles's eyes. He never expected that Wang Peng would be able to contact his hometown directly.
