At the provincial capital's experimental high school, the afternoon dismissal bell rang, and students walked out of the school gate one after another.
Tang Xiaoyue left to wait for the bus with her schoolbag on her back and was surrounded by three chubby girls.
One of them put his arm around her shoulder and said, "Come on, sister, let's go over there and talk."
Tang Xiaoyue bit her lip tightly, tears welling in her eyes, and gently shook her head: "I... I have no money left."
"We're not giving you any money, let's go." Without further ado, the three girls dragged Tang Xiaoyue into the alley across the street.
"I'm not going." Tang Xiaoyue didn't dare to struggle too much, and kept turning her head to look at the intersection, praying that her mother would come to pick her up soon.
She was eventually dragged into the alley.
"Give me the money, do you hear me?" The fat girl in the lead grabbed her by the neck.
"I have no money, no money..." Tang Xiaoyue gripped her hand tightly, feeling short of breath.
"I told you to bring me twenty yuan yesterday, and you dared not to? You're asking for it!" The other two girls raised their hands and slapped her across the face.
Suddenly, Tang Xiaoyue heard a "smack," but surprisingly, her face didn't hurt. Then she heard several more smacks, followed by crying.
She mustered her courage and opened her eyes, only to see the three classmates who had bullied her being beaten by two strong women.
These two women were very strong, both over 1.7 meters tall.
Standing opposite her was a tall, handsome young man who was looking at her with a half-smile.
"He's so handsome." Tang Xiaoyue quickly lowered her head, clutching the hem of her clothes tightly with both hands, not daring to look at the man's face.
Soon, the three girls who had bullied her were chased away, each of them receiving many punches and kicks. They ran out crying.
Wang Peng watched them flee in panic, smiled coldly, and walked up to Tang Xiaoyue: "Do they often bully you?"
Tang Xiaoyue looked up at Wang Peng but didn't say anything.
Wang Peng pressed further, "Why didn't you tell your parents? Don't they care about you?"
"I...I don't dare! They'll hit me," Tang Xiaoyue whispered.
“The more you don’t dare tell your parents, the more they will bully you,” Wang Peng said softly. “Back when I was in school, no one dared to bully me; I was the one who bullied others.”
Tang Xiaoyue looked at Wang Peng and felt that he looked familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere before.
“My name is Wang Peng, and your father’s name is Tang Zewu. We’re friends.” Wang Peng took out his phone. “Why don’t you call him?”
"Oh." Tang Xiaoyue paused for a moment, then reached out and took Wang Peng's phone, dialing Tang Zewu's number.
No one answered the phone. She called twice more, but still no one answered. "He's probably busy," Tang Xiaoyue said, handing the phone to Wang Peng.
"You live in Qingshi Community, Huihuang District. Shall I take you home?" Wang Peng said, putting his phone into his pocket.
"Mm." Tang Xiaoyue nodded. She didn't think Wang Peng was a bad person; a bad person wouldn't let her call her family.
Wang Peng led him out of the alley and to his car.
“I recognize your license plate.” Tang Xiaoyue pointed to the license plate. “You’re the owner of Brothers Supermarket, right?”
One, two, three, four, five in a row—that's Wang Peng's license plate number; it's very easy to remember.
"I'll change the license plate another day, haha." He smiled slightly. "How about it? Want me to give you a ride?"
"Okay!" Tang Xiaoyue got into Wang Peng's car without any hesitation.
She knew Wang Peng's story, a tall and handsome entrepreneur in his twenties who had always been her Prince Charming.
As the Audi started, Tang Xiaoyue began to talk, seemingly forgetting the unpleasant experience of being blackmailed earlier.
"Brother Peng, why did you suddenly appear in that alley?"
Why are you helping me? Did my dad send you?
“Let’s go to the Brilliant No. 5 store. My dad sells KFC there. I’ll treat you to KFC.”
"Never mind, Peng, just take me home. My dad won't let me go to the shop..."
No matter what questions she asked or what topic she brought up, Wang Peng would answer patiently and chat and laugh with her.
Soon, the car arrived at Qingshi Residential Area and stopped in front of the building where the Tang family lived.
A motorcycle was parked in the shed next door. Tang Xiaoyue pointed at the motorcycle: "Brother Peng, that's my dad."
She opened the car door and got out, calling out, "Dad, I'm home."
Tang Zewu glanced at the Audi on the black market and immediately frowned: "Whose car is this?"
Before Tang Xiaoyue could speak, Wang Peng opened the door and got out of the car, smiling as he said, "Hello, Boss Tang."
"Wang Peng!" Tang Zewu immediately tensed up, staring intently at Wang Peng.
Why was the daughter in Wang Peng's car? Why did Wang Peng drive her home? When did they meet? What was he planning to do?
A nameless fear rose in Tang Zewu's heart. He wasn't afraid of Wang Peng, but he was afraid that Wang Peng would get involved with his daughter.
A young girl who hasn't even entered society yet is no match for Wang Peng.
"Wang Peng, what exactly do you want?" Tang Zewu's face turned red, and he clenched his fists tightly.
Seeing her father's agitation, Tang Xiaoyue quickly grabbed his arm: "Dad, a classmate is blackmailing me, your brother Peng is helping me..."
"Mr. Tang, I have something to do." Wang Peng waved to him and got back into the car.
The car turned around and slowly drove out of the residential area. Tang Zewu stared at the car, gritting his teeth in hatred, until it disappeared from sight.
He hurriedly took Tang Xiaoyue home and closed the door: "Xiaoyue, tell me the truth, why are you with Wang Peng?"
Seeing that he was very agitated, Tang Xiaoyue dared not hide anything any longer. She then told him about how she had been blackmailed and bullied at school for a long time.
"Why didn't you say so sooner?" Tang Zewu was both angry and heartbroken, his eyes bloodshot.
"I'm afraid they'll hit me," Tang Xiaoyue said softly.
"Silly girl, even if you don't tell your parents, they'll still beat you." Tang Zewu got angrier and angrier, and immediately called Tang Xiaoyue's homeroom teacher.
After making the call, I still felt uneasy, so I called the principal again.
After dealing with the extortion of Tang Xiaoyue, he felt even more terrified.
He knew Wang Peng was flexing his muscles—if you, Tang Zewu, cooperate well, I'll protect your precious daughter. But if you go against me, Wang Peng, then sorry, I have plenty of ways to deal with you.
Tang Zewu grew increasingly frightened as he thought about it, a cold sweat trickling down his forehead, though he remained completely unaware of it.
"Dad, what's wrong?" Tang Xiaoyue walked to his side and asked softly.
"Xiaoyue, you can no longer have any contact with Wang Peng, and you can't ride in his car..." Tang Zewu's voice grew softer and softer.
He knew that saying these words was pointless, and even if his daughter listened, it wouldn't diminish Wang Peng's aura.
Tang Xiaoyue scratched her head: "Dad, you don't have any grudge against him, do you? Why won't you let me be friends with him?"
“Your task now is to study, not to make friends with people in society. You…” Tang Zewu shook his head, “Never mind.”
As he spoke, he returned to his bedroom, closed the door, and began to seriously consider his relationship with Wang Peng.
