Chapter 470 Conquering the Foreigner Baker

Wang Peng knocked on Mr. Baker's door and gave him a warm hug.

“Dear Mr. Baker, I am trying my best to find authentic British tea for you. Please wait a moment,” Wang Peng said.

"Thank you, Mr. Wang. You have made me feel the warmth and hospitality of this great Eastern country." Baker hugged Wang Peng again.

The two sat facing each other on the sofa, and Wang Peng talked to him while sizing up his appearance.

Mr. Baker certainly has a classic English look, with a wise look in his eyes.

"Mr. Wang, do you find the elevator that my company installed for you easy to use?" Baker asked.

"That's great. I have three more stores, and I plan to install elevators in all of them. It's just a pity that they're too expensive."

Chen Hao then changed the subject, saying, "If you build a factory here, the price will definitely be much more favorable, and we'll install three more elevators right away."

Baker chuckled. "So you're here to negotiate. Well, Mr. Wang, I'm certainly willing to build a factory here, as long as they give me a ten-year tax exemption."

Chen Hao shook his head and said with a smile, "Our local businesses pay taxes every year, but you foreign businesses are exempt from taxes for five years. Everyone has a lot of complaints about this."

“If he grants you a ten-year tax exemption, local businesses will probably be cursing him out every day. Mr. Baker, they are under tremendous pressure,” Chen Hao added.

Baker chuckled and waved his hand: "Mr. Wang, that's not my concern. I only need to consider whether to invest."

Upon hearing this, Wang Peng lost interest in continuing the conversation and changed the subject, talking to him about the local customs and traditions.

Baker had done a lot of research before coming and was already interested in the area, so the two started discussing this topic.

A short while later, Wang Peng received a call from Feng Daliang.

Old Feng contacted many universities and finally bought British tea from a recent international student.

"Old Feng, thank you so much, you've done me a huge favor," Chen Hao said with a smile.

"Don't mention it, I'll send someone to deliver it to you." After saying that, Feng Daliang hung up the phone.

Less than ten minutes later, someone knocked on the door. Wang Peng went to open it and took the tea leaves from the waiter.

“My God, this is what I wanted most.” Baker took the tea leaves with both hands and hugged them tightly to his chest. “Mr. Wang, thank you.”

“Don’t be shy, Mr. Baker. Please make yourself at home,” Wang Peng said.

Baker immediately went to the bathroom to wash his hands, brewing British tea while explaining tea culture to Wang Peng.

While listening carefully, Wang Peng texted Du Lei: "Brother Lei, I'm in the boss's room at the British Elevator Factory. Can you contact some clients for me? If someone's installing elevators, have them come over to talk."

The text message was sent and Du Lei replied quickly: "Okay, Peng-ge, I'll do it right away."

Time passed slowly, and Baker finally finished preparing the black tea, handing a cup to Wang Peng with both hands. The two drank tea and chatted.

A while later, Wang Peng's phone vibrated, and he went to the door to answer it. It was Ma Xingbang, the owner of Yonghong Supermarket, calling.

The two chatted for half a minute before Wang Peng hung up the phone.

"Mr. Baker, there's a seven-story supermarket whose owner wants to install an elevator and would like to talk to you about it."

"Oh?" Baker asked eagerly, "What time will that gentleman arrive? I'll wait for him here?"

Wang Peng nodded and immediately called Ma Xingbang, asking him to come over right now.

Two minutes later, he answered another phone call and said with a smile, "Mr. Baker, the five-story Changxing Supermarket also wants to install an elevator, what do you think..."

"Boss, you're not kidding me, are you?" Baker was completely shocked.

In England, if he wanted to secure a five-story elevator, he had to fawn over the client and smile throughout the entire process to have any chance of winning the deal.

But here, he only needs to sit in his room and drink tea, and business comes to him on its own.

Seeing his shocked expression, Wang Peng stopped bothering him and leisurely picked up his teacup.

Less than half a minute later, he answered the phone again and said, "Mr. Baker, the First Hospital of the Provincial Capital wants to talk to you. They want to install a vertical elevator."

“Mr. Wang, wait a moment…” Baker rubbed his temples. “They’re all your friends, right?”

Wang Peng nodded: "They are my friends. But they also want an elevator."

The elevator in Brothers Supermarket Plot 5 was the first of its kind in the provincial capital, making shopping more convenient for the public and attracting the attention of business owners.

That's a tangible convenience. The bosses in the provincial capital may lack vision, but they're not lacking in intelligence.

Wang Peng said seriously, "Mr. Baker, the domestic market is huge, and everything is in need of rebuilding. The demand for elevators is enormous."

"So you can trust me. If you invest in building a factory in the provincial capital, you'll definitely make a fortune."

Wang Peng smiled slightly and said, "Let's take a longer-term view. There's no need to insist on a ten-year tax exemption, is there?"

Baker listened carefully, still hesitant. Wang Peng had already proven to him through his actions that building a factory here was a promising venture.

Just as he was struggling with this decision, Wang Peng's phone rang. He answered the call and put it to his ear.

"Mr. Baker, Mr. Ma Xingbang is in the lobby downstairs. Shall we go and greet him?"

“Okay, I’ll go now.” Baker immediately put down his teacup and straightened his tie in front of the mirror.

The two went downstairs. Ma Xingbang laughed and gave Wang Peng a warm hug: "Brother Peng, it's been a long time."

"Long time no see." Wang Peng shook his hand and introduced him to Baker.

After exchanging pleasantries, the three went to Baker's room. Baker called over his translator, a blonde, blue-eyed foreign woman.

Wang Peng acted as Ma Xingbang's translator, and the two began business negotiations.

Ma Xingbang said, "Brother, just tell him to install the same elevator as your No. 5 store for me, and to give me the lowest price."

Wang Peng conveyed the request to Baker, adding, "Mr. Baker, the price cannot be higher than my No. 5 store's price."

The negotiations officially began, and as the bargaining phase progressed, the two sides became increasingly heated, eventually arguing until they were red in the face and their necks were bulging.

Then, with Wang Peng's mediation, the two parties finally reached an agreement.

“This foreigner is really difficult to deal with,” Ma Xingbang complained, then added, “Brother Peng, tell this foreigner that the project must be completed within a month.”

Wang Peng nodded and relayed to Baker, "Mr. Baker, Mr. Ma requires the project to be completed within a month. Is that alright?"

“No problem.” Baker raised his head. “As long as the money is there, there’s absolutely no problem.”

The negotiations concluded, and Wang Peng and Baker saw Ma Xingbang off. Baker couldn't help but praise, "Mr. Wang, you are a great man."

Wang Peng shook his head and waved his phone: "Mr. Baker, the second customer will be here soon, let's wait a bit."

"Let's wait a bit." Baker sat on the sofa in the lobby on the first floor, waiting for the client to arrive.

He was secretly pondering a question: if there were a factory here, he could earn two more layers of profit on Ma Xingbang's business.
