Wang Cheng's home in Wenxin Garden Community.
Wang Cheng's eyes were bloodshot as he stared intently at the door he had smashed with an ashtray.
He could have sold shares for five million, but now he can only sell them for two million. He simply can't bear such a huge loss.
His phone suddenly rang; it was Qian Shun, a former shareholder of Huihuang. He answered the phone and said in a deep voice, "What do you want?"
Qian Shun said with a smile, "Wang Cheng, I heard you lost money, several million, right?"
Wang Cheng was so angry that his teeth ached. He gritted his teeth and said, "What exactly do you want to say? Do you want to see me make a fool of myself?"
"Yes, I just want to see you make a fool of yourself. Watching you lose money makes me happier than making money myself, haha..." Qian Shun laughed on the phone.
Wang Cheng clutched his chest, trembling with anger. He wanted to hang up, but then felt that Qian Shun must have something else on his mind.
After Qian Shun finished laughing, he gritted his teeth and asked, "Qian Shun, what exactly are you trying to say?"
“Wang Cheng, Lucy isn’t in England. Where is she? Tell me the truth.” Qian Shun suddenly raised his voice.
“She lives in England, and I can’t get in touch with her,” Wang Cheng said coldly. “Don’t ask me about her; we’ve already broken up.”
"Bullshit! Would a woman give you two percent of Brilliant's shares and then break up with you and go abroad?" Qian Shun's voice rose two decibels.
Wang Cheng sat in the chair, crossing his legs. He knew that Lucy was also having an affair with Qian Shun; the two had been a couple for a long time.
"Qian Shun, I've broken up with her. We have nothing to do with each other anymore. Don't ask me about her anymore."
Wang Cheng shook his head: "She loves me, so she gave me the shares. She's just playing around with you, so she won't give you the shares."
A cold snort came from the phone, and Qian Shun said in a deep voice, "Wang Cheng, I suspect that you killed Lucy. I will find the evidence."
Wang Cheng frowned immediately, then relaxed his brow just as quickly: "If you have evidence, go and call the police."
At this point, Wang Cheng hung up the phone. He left the bedroom, went to the kitchen, and looked across at Wang Peng's house.
The lights were on in Wang Peng's kitchen, and you could vaguely see figures busy inside.
He stared at it for a long time, then took out his phone from his pocket and dialed Wang Peng's number.
Wang Peng was simmering chicken soup in the kitchen when his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, hung up immediately, and switched the ringer to vibrate.
Once the chicken soup was ready, he poured it into a thermal lunchbox and turned off the kitchen lights.
His phone vibrated again in his pocket. He took it out and saw that it was Wang Cheng calling again, so he answered the call and put it to his ear.
"Brother, are you done with your work?" Wang Cheng asked with a smile over the phone.
"Just finished." Wang Peng placed the chicken soup on the coffee table in the living room, walked into the kitchen, and looked at Wang Cheng's house across the street.
"Speak your mind, or shut up. I have other things to do," Wang Peng said calmly.
“Brother, I know you’re home. Shall we come downstairs and chat for a bit?” Wang Cheng said.
"I'll say it again, I don't have time." Wang Peng turned and left the kitchen, adding, "If you don't tell me now, I'm hanging up."
There was no sound on the phone. He smiled slightly and hung up.
Wang Peng could guess what Wang Cheng wanted to say: either he wanted him to stop the massive price cuts or he wanted him to buy his stock at a higher price.
Wang Peng would not agree to either of them. It took him a great deal of determination to decide to completely cut off Wang Cheng's path.
He locked the door, picked up his lunchbox, and went downstairs. Just as he was about to open the car door, he heard someone calling him.
Looking up, he saw Wang Cheng standing under the streetlight, smoking. He walked over to Wang Peng and looked at the lunchbox in his hand.
"Big brother, are you going to deliver food to Mom?" Wang Cheng asked with a smile.
Wang Peng opened the car door, placed the lunchbox under the passenger seat, and squinted at him.
Wang Cheng continued, "I know you're treating her, but have you ever thought about what might happen if she regains consciousness and comes looking for trouble?"
“So, I think it’s better for both of us if she’s in a state of dementia right now,” Wang Cheng added.
Wang Peng sneered and said in a deep voice, "It seems you don't want her to wake up. Why?"
Suddenly, Wang Peng remembered what the doctor had said: Li Guifen's mental problems were due to being frightened, not because she had Alzheimer's disease in the traditional sense.
"Brother, you're joking. Of course I hope she wakes up. But rationally speaking, it's not good for her to wake up. You should know that better than I do."
Wang Cheng chuckled and continued, "What I mean is, there's no need to treat her deliberately; just let nature take its course."
Upon hearing this, Wang Peng suddenly had a terrifying thought. Li Guifen might have witnessed Wang Cheng doing something wrong and was frightened.
The next second, he shook his head, feeling that the possibility was not very high.
Wang Peng sneered: "The chicken soup is getting cold. I don't want to waste my breath on you. What do you want?"
Wang Cheng hurriedly said, "Brother, I want to exchange 40% of Brilliant's shares for 5% of my shares."
"No way, you're living in a dream." Wang Peng laughed angrily, opened the car door, and was about to get in.
"Big brother!" Wang Cheng hurriedly grabbed the car door and said sincerely, "As long as you agree, I will bring our mother here and do nothing but take care of her in her old age and see her off in her final days."
Wang Peng shook his head: "It's your duty to take care of him in his old age and see him to his death. Wang Cheng, five percent of Brother Supermarket's shares are worth eight million on the market. Your measly shares are worth at most two million now. So do you think I'm a fool?"
"Furthermore, Brother Supermarket's finances are very healthy and it doesn't need external capital intervention. Even if you put up eight million in cash, you still can't buy shares in Brother Supermarket, understand?"
After saying that, Wang Peng pushed him aside, sat in the car, and started the engine.
He left the Wenxin Garden residential area and drove all the way to Wang Xia's residential area, where he parked his car downstairs.
He brought chicken soup to his third sister Wang Xia's house and saw her feeding Li Guifen water.
"Brother, come here, I'll feed her but she won't drink." Wang Xia put down her teacup and wiped Li Guifen's mouth with a handkerchief.
"Mom, here's your favorite chicken soup." Wang Peng sat opposite Li Guifen and scooped a spoonful of chicken soup into her mouth.
Li Guifen stared intently at Wang Peng, then slowly opened her mouth and began to drink the chicken soup.
"Big brother," Wang Xia said with a wry smile, "you haven't called...Mom in a long time, have you?"
Wang Peng nodded: "Yes, she's already like this, let's just let bygones be bygones."
Recalling the past, tears welled up in Wang Xia's eyes: "Our family of six has been quite pitiful. Wang Zhen has disappeared without a trace, and we don't even know if he's alive or dead. Wang Cheng turned against you, and now Mom has ended up like this..."
Wang Peng waved his hand: "Think more positive things. We're doing very well, we've gone on vacation to Australia again. You're doing well too, you're a vice president at James Bond for a few days, earning hundreds of thousands a year, who wouldn't envy you?"
Wang Xia's mood improved slightly, and she forced a smile: "Brother, do you hope Mom gets better?"
