Chapter 489 Bar

The Xinglan General Club in the provincial capital was filled with deafeningly loud music and a scene of dazzling lights and revelry.

Wang Cheng was dancing wildly on the dance floor, holding a sexy and hot woman in his arms. As they danced, their embrace grew tighter and tighter.

The music stopped, the lights came on, and people in the dance floor found seats.

Wang Cheng ordered two glasses of red wine, which cost 100 yuan a glass and were the most expensive wines here.

The hot young woman's vanity was satisfied. She clung to Wang Cheng's arm in a coquettish voice, flirting with him while drinking expensive red wine.

Wang Cheng, feeling dizzy from drinking, immediately took the woman upstairs to book a room.

After they left, Du Lei ordered three glasses of red wine at the agreed price, one for Wang Peng and one for Hu Mingyue.

Wang Peng tasted the wine but didn't find it particularly delicious, so he laughed and said, "Just another flashy but impractical thing."

Hu Mingyue laughed and said, "Brother, what we're drinking here isn't red wine, but the ambiance."

"What a load of rubbish, it's boring," Wang Peng continued to complain. "Does that kid Wang Cheng come here every day looking for romance?"

“He doesn’t come every day, maybe nine times out of ten. Brother, he’s probably completely fallen into depravity,” Hu Mingyue said with a smile.

“Mingyue is right. He must be devastated to go from being the chairman of Huihuang Supermarket to an unemployed young man overnight,” Du Lei interjected.

Hu Mingyue shook her head: "But he has a huge sum of more than 1.5 million yuan in his hands. Even if he does nothing, he can live off it for the rest of his life."

At this point, a sly glint flashed in her eyes: "Big brother, should I set up a scheme to swindle his money?"

Wang Peng immediately waved his hand and said with a stern face, "Don't do anything illegal, or you'll end up paying the price."

"Mingyue, listen to Brother Peng." Du Lei was also startled and hurriedly advised Hu Mingyue to give up the idea.

Hu Mingyue smiled slightly: "Don't worry, of course I wouldn't do such a thing. But given Wang Cheng's character, he'll definitely find a way to invest."

Wang Peng nodded upon hearing this. It's hard to go from luxury to frugality, and Wang Cheng had long been accustomed to a comfortable life; he certainly wouldn't sit idly by and squander his wealth.

He'll probably go into business. Wang Peng carefully considered what kind of business he might do, and whether he might invest in other people's businesses.

At that moment, soft music began to play.

A hot woman walked up to Wang Peng and said, "Handsome, would you like to dance with me?"

Just as Wang Peng was about to politely decline, Hu Mingyue hurriedly tugged at his sleeve.

"Brother Peng," Hu Mingyue whispered in his ear, "this girl often accompanies Wang Cheng to drink, dance, and book hotel rooms."

"Thank you, ma'am, it's my pleasure." Wang Peng put down his wine glass and gave the woman a gentlemanly bow.

"You're welcome." The young woman couldn't help but chuckle and reached out to take Wang Peng's arm.

Du Lei also invited Hu Mingyue to dance, and the four of them walked into the center of the dance floor together.

The lights suddenly dimmed, and the woman immediately abandoned her reserve, pressing herself tightly against Wang Peng.

Wang Peng was about to push her away when he felt her warm breath on his ear: "I know who you are, hehe..."

“Madam, many people in the provincial capital know who I am. It’s quite hot, you don’t need to get so close.” Wang Peng reached out to push her.

"Don't push me. I've danced with Wang Cheng a lot, and we've had many dates in the private rooms upstairs. Brother Peng, aren't you interested?" the girl giggled.

Wang Peng didn't push her away again, nor did he say anything, letting her stay close to him.

Two minutes later, the woman said softly, "Wang Cheng, after my encouragement, is preparing to try his hand at stocks. Brother Peng, are you interested in stocks?"

"I am interested in US stocks," Wang Peng thought with a sinking feeling.

Wang Cheng did choose to invest, but he chose stock trading, where the probability of a sudden financial disaster is tens of thousands of times greater than the probability of overnight riches.

If he's lucky, he could earn millions. If he's unlucky, he could lose all his money overnight.

"US stocks?" the young woman asked softly. "Brother Peng, can you teach me? Which stocks did you buy?"

"An apple with a bite taken out of it. If you can go to America, you can buy some." Wang Peng chuckled and shook his head.

"Brother Peng, don't joke with me. If I were in the Land of Beauty, I wouldn't be dancing with you here," the girl said with a smile.

Wang Peng didn't speak, but gently put his arm around her waist, hoping to get more information out of her.

He has already bought a lot of Apple stock, all through Li Mengjiao in England.

Therefore, he doesn't need to do anything now; ten years from now, he can achieve financial freedom simply by holding Apple stock.

The music ended, and the girl took Wang Peng's arm and led him to the bar counter.

"Brother Peng, can you buy me a drink?" The woman whispered in Wang Peng's ear, "One night, Wang Cheng got drunk and talked a lot in his sleep. I heard him say Lucy... I'm sorry... don't look for me."

"He seemed to be having a nightmare; his features were contorted, and there was a cold snort on his face and forehead. It was like he was being chased by a ghost in a dream, and he couldn't escape no matter how hard he ran," the woman added.

Wang Peng frowned slightly: "Madam, what is your name?"

The woman replied, "My name is Chen Feifei, and I work as a lobby manager at a telecommunications service center. Brother Peng, I've seen you many times before."

Wang Peng nodded, then looked up and winked at Du Lei. Du Lei immediately ordered two glasses of Lafite, handing one to Wang Peng and the other to Chen Feifei.

"Wow, thank you, Brother Peng." Chen Feifei beamed with joy, her vanity satisfied.

"Ms. Feifei, let's have a drink." Wang Peng swirled the wine glass in his hand.

"Brother Peng, please!" Chen Feifei gently clinked glasses with Chen Lin and took a sip of her drink.

After finishing one glass of wine, before Wang Peng could even speak, Du Lei immediately ordered two more.

Chen Feifei was even happier and whispered, "Brother Peng, Wang Cheng had a hangover three times, and each time he said 'Lucy is sorry' in his dreams. Who exactly is Lucy? It doesn't sound like a Chinese name."

“Ms. Chen,” Du Lei said softly, “let’s not meddle in other people’s business. We shouldn’t inquire about things that don’t concern us.”

Chen Feifei was stunned for a moment, then quickly nodded: "Brother Lei is right, I was too talkative."

Therefore, she not only knew Wang Peng, but also Du Lei, the vice president of a sister company.

"Ms. Feifei, thank you." Chen Lin placed his glass on the bar and said with a smile, "Excuse me, I'll be there for a moment."

Seeing that Wang Peng was about to leave, Chen Feifei immediately finished the wine in her glass and reached out to hug Wang Peng's arm.

“Madam, you’re drunk.” Hu Mingyue immediately shielded Wang Peng behind her.

Before Chen Feifei could speak, Du Lei joined in, blocking Chen Feifei from harassing Wang Peng.

Wang Peng left the bar, got back into his car, and took out his phone to call Li Mingzhu.

"Honey, it's so late, are you missing me again?" Li Mingzhu's voice came from the phone.

Wang Peng chuckled: "Wife, I suspect Lucy was murdered in England."
