"Why don't you try it yourself?" Wang Peng handed his ballpoint pen to the student with the side-parted hair.
His name is Shen Mingjian, a top student in Class Two.
“Okay, let’s give it a try.” Shen Mingjian picked up his pen and wrote on a napkin.
He wrote his name and couldn't help but exclaim, "This pen is really good, give me two!"
"That's definitely good," Wang Peng said with a smile. "The main advantage is that it's faster to write than a fountain pen, which will be a good thing during exams."
"Brother Peng, give me two sets, two ballpoint pens, and twenty pen refills," the chubby boy said. "I'll try them out too."
The transaction was completed, and Wang Peng received eight yuan.
The preparation bell rings.
Li Mengjiao said softly, "The writing speed of a ballpoint pen is indeed faster than that of a fountain pen."
Wang Peng immediately gave her a thumbs up; it's rare for this girl to like something.
The second period in the morning was Chinese, and my younger brother, Biology, walked into the classroom with his textbook.
Chen Qingshu did indeed reschedule the class.
Throughout the entire morning, a large number of people came to buy pens during breaks between classes.
He was a little confused. In just one day, everyone had already figured out the advantages of ballpoint pens?
Teachers' office.
Chen Qingshu is preparing his lesson.
Dean of Students Lao Chen came to the office.
He patted Chen Qingshu's shoulder lightly, "Qingshu, Principal Song wants you to go to her office."
"Okay." Chen Qingshu stood up and smiled. "Did she say what it was about? I'll prepare in advance."
Director Chen shook his head. "She didn't say, but I could tell she wasn't in a good mood."
Hearing this, Chen Qingshu felt a chill run down his spine.
Could it be that she found out I got drunk yesterday?
Entering school while intoxicated is a serious disciplinary violation.
On his way to the principal's office, he kept smelling his clothes to make sure there was no smell of alcohol on them.
I saw a teacher chewing gum, so I immediately asked her for one.
A few minutes later, he nervously arrived at the principal's office.
"Principal, you wanted to see me?"
Song Wei pointed to the chair opposite him and said, "I heard you have a friend who owns a stationery factory?"
Chen Qingshu nodded, "Yes, he opened a store in the provincial capital, mainly selling pencil cases, pencils, and ballpoint pens."
"What is a ballpoint pen?" Song Wen asked.
Chen Qingshu took out his pen, "This is a new pen invented by the Japanese, and it writes better than a fountain pen."
Song Wei picked up his pen and wrote a few words on the manuscript paper. The handwriting felt good, so he wrote a few more words.
"It's alright," she nodded. "How much do these pens cost when we're preparing to purchase pens and ink for teachers?"
Chen Qingshu's eyes lit up. "Principal, with this kind of pen, we won't need to buy ink anymore."
He took out the pen refill, "It's similar to a ballpoint pen, you can just replace the refill. I suggest we buy gel pens."
The school purchases a batch of pens and ink every quarter.
Primarily intended for use by teachers and student council members, these items can be given to registered students from impoverished families or awarded as prizes to outstanding class leaders.
"How much? Do you know?" Song Wei asked.
"One ballpoint pen and ten refills, that's two yuan in total," Chen Qingshu said.
“Oh.” Song Wei fell into deep thought.
Previously, fountain pens cost five yuan each, and ink cost one yuan per bottle. Ballpoint pens were indeed much cheaper.
After a long silence, Song made a decision.
"I'll leave this to you. Let's buy two hundred tubes first and see how they go."
"If everyone gives positive feedback, we will continue to make purchases."
At this point, Song Wei opened the drawer, wrote a purchase order, and handed it to Chen Qingshu for signature.
Then he took out another four hundred yuan and asked, "Qingshu, when will the goods arrive?"
"It will arrive tomorrow." Chen Qingshu hurriedly signed the document.
Suppressing his excitement, he signed the document, chatted with the principal for a few more minutes, and then hurriedly left the office.
Just then, the school bell rang for lunch break.
He stood downstairs waiting, and when he saw Wang Peng come out, he hurriedly shouted, "Wang Peng, come here for a moment."
“Teacher Chen.” Wang Peng turned around and walked to his side.
He handed the purchase order directly to Wang Peng, saying, "Prepare two hundred ballpoint pens and two hundred bags of pen refills for me tomorrow and deliver them to my dormitory."
"Old Chen," Wang Peng said, seemingly puzzled but impressed, "why did the school ask you to purchase stationery? And two hundred sets at once?"
"I don't know either. Maybe it's because I know someone who owns a stationery factory, and the principal wanted to save money," Chen Qingshu waved his hand.
The school's procurement is handled by the vice principal in charge of administration.
"Anyway, don't worry about it." Chen Qingshu took out four hundred yuan. "The principal gave me the payment for the goods."
"That's great." Wang Peng put the money in his pocket. "I'll go home and prepare the goods, and I'll bring them to you at noon."
"Okay, I'll wait for you." Chen Qingshu patted his shoulder.
He repays favors owed to him yesterday with orders today; he dislikes owing favors to others the most.
"Goodbye, Lao Chen. Fang Jie took my bike. I'm going to hitch a ride with her," Wang Peng said.
The two parted ways, and Wang Peng went to the bicycle shed, where he waited for Li Mengjiao and Chen Xiaojing a moment later.
"Ladies, would you like a free driver?" Wang Peng patted his chest.
"I want it." Chen Xiaojing hurriedly handed the car keys to Wang Peng.
"Where's your car?" Li Mengjiao asked him.
"My cousin rode off to set up a stall at No. 3 Middle School. Xiao Jing, I need to deliver two hundred sets of ballpoint pens to the school later, so I'll have to hitch a ride with you," he said.
“No problem, you wait for me at home.” Chen Xiaojing readily agreed.
The three rode their bikes home.
During the journey, Li Mengjiao asked again, "Did the school purchase your ballpoint pens?"
Wang Peng nodded, "That's right, thanks to Teacher Chen's help."
"You're so lucky," Li Mengjiao couldn't help but exclaim. "I was worried you wouldn't have anything to eat just a few days ago."
