The school-wide sports meet, hosted by No. 1 Middle School, will open tomorrow.
During the last period this afternoon, Gu Li from the student council came to find Wang Peng.
The two left the teaching building and went to the conference room in the administration building.
There were five people in the meeting room. Wang Peng met the chairman, Zhou Xiayu, and Wang Cheng, who was standing next to Zhou Xiayu.
“Wang Peng, this is Wang Cheng, a new member of our student council. Do you know him?” Zhou Xiaoyu said.
“I know him.” Wang Peng looked at Wang Cheng with a half-smile.
In his past life, this kid got ten extra points on his college entrance exam and was admitted to a university in the provincial capital thanks to his outstanding student leadership qualities.
Does he want to repeat the path to success he took in his previous life?
“Wang Peng, do you mind if I call you Xiao Peng?” Zhou Xiaoyu said.
“You’re my senior, so you can call me that.” Wang Peng pulled up a chair and sat down opposite him.
Wang Cheng opened the folder on the conference table and took out a piece of paper.
A total of 120 students signed up for the sports meet.
"As agreed, the student union will purchase 120 sets of ballpoint pens as participation prizes for the students."
"Wang, show us your sample to Chairman Zhou."
After Wang Cheng finished speaking, he handed the purchase list to Wang Peng for review.
Wang Peng looked at it carefully and said, "Isn't the payment date missing here?"
"Pay after the sports meet," Zhou Xiaoyu said. "Don't worry, Xiaopeng, you'll get your money back."
Wang Peng shook his head, "I'm a bit short on cash lately, let's just do cash on delivery."
He was uneasy about Wang Cheng's character.
If Wang Cheng weren't involved, it wouldn't matter if we delayed paying for a few days.
"Xiao Peng, are you afraid the student council will renege on their promise?" Zhou Xiaoyu was not happy.
“That’s not what I meant,” Wang Peng denied, saying, “What I said is true; we are indeed facing a tight cash flow situation recently.”
"Wang, the sports meet ends the day after tomorrow, can't you wait one more day?" Wang Cheng asked.
Wang Peng smiled slightly, squinted at him, and stared at him with a fierce look in his eyes.
Wang Cheng suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, fearing that Wang Peng would stand up and beat him up.
The next second, he forced himself to meet Wang Peng's gaze.
This is the student union office. Zhou Xiayu is the president of the student union, and he doesn't believe Wang Peng would dare to make a move.
"Xiao Peng, what are you doing?" Zhou Xiayu asked with a smile. "Was Wang Cheng saying something wrong?"
Wang Peng took off his backpack and placed it on the table, then casually patted it.
"The goods are here, but I run a small business and do not offer credit. Please understand, Chairman Zhou."
"One hundred and twenty sets of ballpoint pens, that's only two hundred and forty yuan. Didn't the student council manage to secure any investment?"
Wang Peng asked.
Wang Cheng retorted, "Mr. Zhang, who runs a video arcade at the train station, donated five hundred yuan to us."
“Not bad.” Zhou Xiaoyu smiled. “This investment was secured by Wang Cheng, and he did a great job.”
Upon hearing the praise, Wang Cheng couldn't help but straighten his back.
This sponsorship fee of 500 yuan was the key to his victory over other candidates and his successful entry into the student council.
Businessmen are all profit-driven. Zhang Chenggong's willingness to donate money to students suggests he might have some ulterior motive.
Wang Peng said, "Congratulations to Chairman Zhou on gaining a capable assistant. Wang Cheng does have some ability to get things done."
"Haha, you're right." Zhou Xiaoyu looked up at Wang Cheng. "You guys go back first, I'll have a chat with Xiaopeng."
Wang Cheng nodded, turned and left the meeting room, and the other student council members also left the meeting room.
Only Wang Peng and Zhou Xiayu remained in the conference room.
"Xiaopeng, do you know why Zhang Chenggong donated money?" Zhou Xiaoyu asked.
"Why?" Wang Peng shook his head slightly.
"Because before the midterm exams every semester, the school organizes students to watch patriotic movies," Zhou Xiaoyu said, crossing her legs and pointing to the window. "They show movies right here in our school."
Wang Peng understood.
This activity was spearheaded by the student union, and Zhou Xiaoyu had the right to choose the screening companies.
Zhang Chenggong wanted to take on this business, so he gave Zhou Xiayu face; it had absolutely nothing to do with Wang Cheng.
At the same time, he also meant something else.
Wang Peng said, "For customers who purchase more than one hundred sets of gel pens at a time, I will ship them at the wholesale price."
"Hehe, you really know how to do business." Zhou Xiaoyu pointed to the purchase list. "Xiaopeng, sign it."
Wang Peng took out a ballpoint pen from his pocket and quickly signed his name.
He opened his backpack and took out 120 pens and 120 packs of pen refills.
After counting the money, Zhou Xiaoyu took out 240 yuan to pay the bill, including two 100-yuan bills and one 50-yuan bill.
Two yuan per set, that's the unit price on the list.
"Thank you, senior." Wang Peng left only two hundred yuan, turned and left the meeting room, gently closing the door behind him.
"The junior is quite smart." Zhou Xiaoyu chuckled and put the fifty yuan into his pocket.
The work of the student council is quite demanding; this is his hard-earned reward.
The sports meet officially began the following afternoon and took place on the school playground.
The whole school was closed for an afternoon, and the teachers organized the students from each class to come to the playground.
In reality, only one-tenth of the students showed up.
For example, a class of fifty students only had eight students attend.
Wang Peng and Du Lei were the contestants, the other six were in the atmosphere group, and the rest of the students were studying on their own.
"Goodness, these students are too competitive," Wang Peng couldn't help but complain.
“Brother Peng, everyone at their school is studying like crazy,” Du Lei said. “For ordinary people, the college entrance examination is the only way to change their fate.”
"That makes sense." Wang Peng gave him a thumbs up.
