Wang Peng hung up the phone, a slight smile playing on his lips, but his heart was in turmoil.
Ma Ronghua, that old fox, is finally going to fall. He could almost see the golden signboard of Ronghua Supermarket collapsing.
"Old Ma, you've schemed for half your life, but in the end, you can't outwit fate." Wang Peng shook his head, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
Just then, his phone rang; it was Li Keyong calling.
“Xiao Peng, Ma Ronghua has been arrested. With Zhang Jinzhu’s testimony, he can’t escape the charges,” Li Keyong said with a smile.
"How many years will he be working on the sewing machine?" Wang Peng asked.
"A few years?" Li Keyong sneered. "That fire caused over a million in economic losses, so he should be sentenced to life imprisonment."
Wang Peng shook his head. "This old guy is almost seventy, he doesn't care about being ruthless or serving a life sentence anymore. Uncle, I want to have a chat with him."
Li Keyong said, "It's not possible now. I'll try to make arrangements in a few days. You should focus on rebuilding the supermarket first."
Wang Peng said, "Uncle, please make the arrangements. I want to know if Wang Cheng is involved."
The two main arsonists have been apprehended and will face the death penalty and life imprisonment, respectively; there is no escaping it.
Wang Peng returned home, spent two hours with Li Mingzhu, and then drove to Brothers Supermarket.
The renovation team is busy, with several "Spider-Men" hanging on the exterior wall, replacing the burned glass.
The fourth floor has been cleaned up, while the first, second, and third floors are still pitch black, creating a stark contrast.
Many banners were hanging in front of the store, which read: Brothers Supermarket is expected to open on X month X day.
Du Lei handed Wang Peng a safety helmet and said with a smile, "It will be ready for renovations in a month at most."
Ma Guoming said urgently, "Boss, I have already contacted the suppliers, and bosses from all over are delivering goods to the warehouse."
"Okay, thank you for your hard work," Wang Peng said. "Brother Ma, is your wife feeling any better?"
"Still the same, much better than before." Ma Guoming sighed softly, "An incurable disease."
His wife's leukemia is a terminal illness.
"Let's talk about something happier," Wang Peng said. "Zhang Jinzhu has confessed; the mastermind behind it all is Ma Ronghua."
"Hmph!" Du Lei gritted his teeth and said in a deep voice, "I knew it was him."
Ma Guoming said, "Ma Ronghua is rich, boss. His family may offer a huge sum of money to ask for your understanding."
"Hehe." Wang Peng shook his head. "You guys keep it to yourselves. I'll go check out the second store."
The second store is opposite Huihuang Supermarket. It is also a four-story building, but four stories shorter than Huihuang Supermarket.
The renovation workers are currently carrying out the work, and the people in charge are the two brothers, Li Kefan and Wang Song.
When Wang Peng met Li Kefan, he told him about Ma Ronghua's arrest and asked in confusion, "Dad, where's Lao Wang?"
“She was just here a moment ago, she probably went outside to pee.” Li Kefan glanced at the stairwell. “Hu Qing is on the fourth floor, she seems very unhappy.”
When Wang Peng arrived on the fourth floor, he saw Hu Qing standing by the window, staring intently at the two titanium characters "Brilliant".
"Rent, inventory, working capital... all your 500,000 yuan went to this," Wang Peng said with a smile.
"Help me destroy Huihuang." Hu Qing hugged his waist. "Huihuang is the culmination of my life's work, and I'm going to destroy it."
“My uncle is now the chairman of the board, and Wang Cheng is the president. They stole my things, husband.” Hu Qing stood on tiptoe and kissed him.
"Stop fooling around." Wang Peng blocked her head.
"Have you answered the multiple-choice question I gave you? Should I call you husband or son?" Hu Qing smiled playfully.
"Stop messing around." Wang Peng had a headache. "Ma Ronghua was arrested because he ordered Zhang Jinzhu to burn down my shop."
“Wang Peng, I’ll give you three days to think it over.” Hu Qing let go of him. “I just saw Wang Song and he was almost scared to tears.”
"Goodness, he already has hepatitis C. Don't scare him into having a heart attack." Wang Peng said, both amused and exasperated.
He added, "Three days is too short. Once Ma Ronghua and Zhang Jinzhu's verdicts are out, I'll give you the result you want, okay?"
“Great!” Hu Qing immediately beamed. “Give me the money, I want to get a gym membership.”
Wang Peng took out a bank card. "The password is six eights. You can use this first. If you need more, just ask me for it."
A cough came from behind him. Wang Peng saw Wang Song and said with a smile, "Dad, what brings you here?"
Wang Song looked at Hu Qing and said with a smile, "Xiao Peng, come here for a moment."
Wang Peng patted Hu Qing's hand, left her embrace, and followed his father downstairs.
The father and son went outside, and Wang Peng said, "Dad, Hu Qing has suffered a mental breakdown. Don't listen to her nonsense."
"Huh?" Wang Song scratched his head. "She didn't say anything to me? What happened?"
Wang Peng was taken aback, then laughed and said, "She went crazy yesterday, saying she wanted to marry you and get a marriage certificate as revenge on Wang Cheng and Li Guifen."
"What?" Wang Song jumped up, his eyes wide.
"She's not mentally sound, don't take it to heart," Wang Peng patted him on the shoulder.
After a long silence, Wang Song pursed his lips and said, "She doesn't want to get revenge on Wang Cheng and Li Guifen; she's begging you to take her in."
"If she dares to talk nonsense to me, I'll slap her across the face. I've already lost enough face to save face.
At this point, Wang Song pointed to his face.
"Haha," Wang Peng said with a laugh, "I told her back then that you're a person who cares about your reputation."
After chatting for a while, Wang Peng felt the urge to urinate. "Dad, is the toilet in the shop usable?"
“No,” Wang Song said. “The public toilet is at that intersection. Go to that alley; there are fewer people there.”
Wang Peng walked into the alley, but couldn't find a toilet anywhere. Just then, a construction worker walked into the alley.
He smiled at Wang Peng, walked into the bushes next to the alley, unbuckled his belt and urinated, his buttocks facing the road.
"Good heavens." Wang Peng was both amused and exasperated. Was this the toilet his father had been talking about?
He did not have the habit of urinating or defecating anywhere, so he walked out of the alley and drove to a nearby public toilet.
Passing by Ronghua Supermarket No. 3, I found the door tightly closed and sealed with a sticker.
He parked his car on the side of the road and found that it was sealed off by the prosecutor's office. He chuckled and said, "The brothers' arson case has caused quite a stir. The outcome should be quick."
Three days later, Wang Peng received a call from Li Keyong and drove to the detention center to meet with the criminal suspect Ma Ronghua.
Li Keyong waited for him in front of the detention center and said with a smile, "He confessed to his crimes without reservation and admitted to hiring someone to commit arson."
"Hehe, I haven't done anything these past two days, I've just been going to the detention center every day," Wang Peng complained.
"If you have nothing to do, spend more time with Mingzhu," Li Keyong patted his shoulder.
Wang Peng nodded. "Uncle, did Ma Ronghua mention his motive for the crime?"
“I told you,” Li Keyong said. “You’ve taken away all his supermarket business, so he wants to burn your supermarket down.”
"Goodness, let's go talk to him," Wang Peng said.
The father and son arrived at the reception room and waited for more than ten minutes before seeing Ma Ronghua, who was wearing shackles.
Looking at him, Wang Peng couldn't recognize him.
