Shen Anchen was so excited that he couldn't sleep all night. After being woken up for the third time by his second uncle, the little boy Shen Ziyi who slept with him really lost his temper.
Feeling the child beside him lift the quilt, Shen Anchen sat up, "Erbao, do you want to pee?"
Shen Ziyi just looked at his uncle in the dark. The child didn't say anything, which scared Shen Anchen. "Erbao, are you okay? What's wrong? Are you cold?"
He touched the child's back, hands, and feet. They were wearing thick pajamas, which were even warmer than his body. "They're quite warm!"
"Erbao, what's wrong with you? Say something."
Shen Anchen looked at the silent child, got out of bed in the dark and turned on the light, then faced his nephew's expressionless face with his hands folded in front of his chest.
"Erbao?"
"Uncle, this is the third time you've woken me up. I'm going back to sleep."
Shen Anchen hurriedly stopped the little guy who was about to slide off the bed, lifted his little butt and pushed him up, and apologized sincerely: "Erbao, Second Uncle knows I was wrong, really, Second Uncle promises you."
"Then you have to sleep well, otherwise I'm going to go find my parents." As if pardoned, Shen Ziyi lay down in the middle of the big bed, leaving empty seats on both sides for his second uncle.
After being tormented by Erbao like this, Shen Anchen still couldn't sleep, but he no longer made pancakes while lying in bed.
Early in the morning, before it was fully light, Shen Anchen got up, changed into his most energetic clothes, and cleaned the house inside and out. This was the first time in so many years.
When the Shen family got up in the morning, they saw a table full of food: soy milk, fried dough sticks, tofu pudding, rubber rings, steamed buns, hemp twists, buns, sugar-coated cakes, and fried cakes. These were not sold in the same place, and it was the first time that they appeared on the Shen family's dining table in such a complete range.
Shen Anxuan and Shen Zixi brushed their teeth and saw the table full of food. They opened their mouths wide and asked, "Why buy so much? Can we finish it all?"
Everyone was sitting in their seats wondering when Shen Anchen came in with a bag of beef patties in his hand. "Hey, why aren't you eating any? I went to several places to buy them this morning. Where's Erbao? The little guy talked in his sleep last night and asked for beef patties, so I bought some."
Until he sat down, everyone stared at Shen Anchen without moving their eyes away. Qin Shuni looked at the table full of breakfast, then looked at her son and said, "Son, you didn't stay up all night, did you?"
Shen Anchen touched his face and then his eyes, "Mom, is it obvious? I looked in the mirror this morning and there were no dark circles under my eyes!" As he spoke, he stood up and ran to the bedroom. Shen Yiyuan was standing by and couldn't stop him. He could only shout: "See if Erbao is awake. If he is, take him to wash his face, brush his teeth and come to eat."
After dinner, Qin Shuni prepared a few boxes of snacks and New Year's goods she bought during the Spring Festival. In order to make them look good, she even wrapped them in boxes and oil paper.
"An Chen, go visit her first today and have a good chat with Jing Yi. Once she agrees, we can invite her family to have a meal together and discuss your matters. Her parents probably haven't gone to work yet. Ride your bike over and grab some hot breakfast on the way. When you see your parents-in-law, behave yourself. Learn from Jing Heng and don't be so playful, okay?"
"I understand, mother. Don't worry, I will definitely bring you a daughter-in-law on this trip today."
Looking at her son, Qin Shuni felt that he was even less reliable. She hung the things on the car and said, "Anyway, when you go there, talk less and work more. Oh, you really worry me to death. Be good."
Shen Anchen hummed a little tune as he got on the bike. Sparks were almost coming out of his pedals. He had sneaked into the Wang family countless times and could find the place even with his eyes closed. He pushed his bike into the middle courtyard and saw Wang's parents' bikes parked under the corridor.
There was a man coming into the compound, and there were a lot of things hanging on his car. Some people in the compound had noticed him a long time ago, and many people were watching him.
Shen Anchen knocked carefully on the Wang family's door. When Wang's mother opened the door, she was surprised to see someone. She didn't recognize him. "Young man, who are you looking for?"
Shen Anchen straightened his back instantly, “Hello, Auntie, I’m Wang Jingyi’s friend, and I came here to visit you today.”
"Oh, you are Jingyi's friend, come in, come in and warm up."
Chen Anchen walked into the house and didn't see his sweetheart. He felt a little disappointed. There was breakfast on the table, but only two sets of bowls and chopsticks. He took out the fried cakes and beef hot pot he bought on the road, "Uncle and aunt, I don't know what you like to eat, so I bought some on the way. Luckily, I caught up and you guys haven't started work yet."
Father Wang looked at Chen Anchen and handed him a chair. "Little Mustache, sit down and rest for a while. You brought so many things with you. Mother, wake up Jingyi. She sleeps in every day. What a shame! All the colleagues are here to pay New Year's greetings, but she is still sleeping. How dare she do that?"
As soon as Chen Anchen sat down, he stood up again and stopped his future mother-in-law who was about to leave. "Auntie, it's okay. Let Jingyi sleep. While she's away, I also want to talk to you two."
Wang's father, who was eating happily, looked at Shen Anchen. He thought he was here to steal his cabbage. He said, "Why are you giving so many things? How could a normal colleague bring so many things when paying New Year's greetings?"
With his future father-in-law and mother-in-law staring at him, Shen Anchen almost couldn't sit still. He straightened his body as much as possible, as if he was giving a report in the army. "Uncle and aunt, hello, my name is Shen Anchen, Jingyi's former classmate. I have been in the army for twelve years. I am twenty-nine this year and currently serve as the commander of the Third Regiment of the Fifteenth Division of the Beijing Military Region."
"Secondly, I want to apologize to my uncle and aunt. Jingyi and I were already in a relationship when I joined the army. It was just that my family was sent down to the countryside at that time, so Jingyi kept it a secret from you. Seven years ago, I lost contact with you for three months because of a mission. Later, Jingyi got engaged and then broke off the engagement. She never replied to the letters I wrote to her. This is all my fault. If I had been more decisive and returned earlier to grab her to be with me, we wouldn't have been like this forever..."
