Chapter 66 Shen Zixi calls mom and dad

Thinking about going to the farm to visit his parents and brother and sister-in-law after the busy farming season, Shen Anning taught Shen Zixi how to recognize people by showing her family photos in her space every night.

"Xixi baby, look who this is first?" Shen Anning pointed at herself in the photo and asked the little girl.

"Auntie, Auntie, love, eat, baby"

"Ah, yes, baby, that's great. This is your aunt. Look who this is? Isn't that your little aunt and uncle?"

"Um."

The little guy is well taken care of. He has never been sick since he was born and is very smart.

Soon, she recognized most of the people in the photo, especially her father and mother. Shen Anning taught her to read for several days.

June 25th, on duty at the hospital.

Today, Liu Jiaman brought a lot of glutinous rice and firewood leaves to work. The 15th was the Dragon Boat Festival, and Shen Anning made rice dumplings of many flavors. She brought them to the class on the 16th and distributed them to them. Liu Jiaman took them home, and the whole family loved them. She bought glutinous rice specifically and planned to ask Shen Anning to help make them again.

Ana Shen took the things and agreed readily.

"Okay, it's still the same flavors, right? I'll make you an extra batch this time, and then ask Uncle Liu and Aunt Liu to give it to relatives and friends to try." Liu Jiaman gave her twelve pounds of glutinous rice and two pieces of bacon. It was impossible to use up all of it.

Knowing that this was a special gift from Liu Jiaman, she accepted it all. Friends don't need to care too much about these things.

It just so happened that I didn’t have the chance to go to the farm during the Dragon Boat Festival, so this time I might as well send some over to my parents.

Night in space.

Shen Zixi was sitting on the sofa in the living room watching TV. She was sitting next to her making rice dumplings. This time, Shen Anning played her educational cartoons. The little guy had already learned to speak, so education could be put on the agenda.

Shen An Ning prepared four kinds of fillings this time, including red bean paste, salted egg yolk, candied dates and bacon. A pound of glutinous rice can make about fifteen to twenty dumplings. Shen An Ning soaked some mung beans and peanuts and wrapped them in them, which would make the taste better.

After soaking all twelve pounds of glutinous rice, it still felt like it wasn't enough, so Shen An Ning added a few more pounds and finally wrapped three hundred dumplings. Except for the bacon ones, which were wrapped in red thread, the others were all wrapped in white thread.

After wrapping the rice dumplings, I coaxed Shen Zixi to sleep first. I have to go to the farm tomorrow, so I have to keep my spirits up tonight.

There were pressure cookers on both gas stoves in the kitchen. Three hundred dumplings were cooked in four batches. When they were cooked, they were taken out and placed outside to cool. It took more than two hours to finish.

I put the ones for Liu Jiaman directly into the backpack and covered them with a layer of white gauze to absorb moisture. There were 120 of them, 40 of them were bacon, and the rest were random, it all depends on luck.

After finishing the things, she came out and looked at the time. It was almost one o'clock. Shen Anning thought about it and put twenty rice dumplings in the kitchen first, six bacon, fourteen other kinds, and two boiled eggs into the pot. She wanted to sleep in with Xixi tomorrow morning and didn't plan to get up.

The imagination is beautiful, but reality always gives her a heavy blow.

Early in the morning, Shen An Ning was still awakened by the gong sound for work. She covered her head with a sheet and sent Shen Zixi into the space first.

Hearing the noise outside, "An Xuan, sister has already put breakfast in the pot. You and brother can heat up some milk powder for yourselves, okay?"

"Well, sister, are you feeling unwell today?" Shen Anxuan was a little worried.

"It's okay. I stayed up all night making rice dumplings. I don't want to get up. Don't worry."

Hearing the sound of the twins going out, Shen An Ning continued to sleep until seven o'clock, when she was forced to get up by Shen Zixi on the bed. Looking at the little fat boy lying on her stomach, Shen An Ning stroked her forehead, feeling helpless.

I cooked a bowl of vegetable porridge and fed it to the little girl, then coaxed her into eating half an egg. I didn't know what was wrong with the little girl, she really didn't like eggs, and would only eat them if I crushed them and put them in the rice so that no one could see them.

I ate a fried dough stick, a steamed bun, and drank a bowl of soy milk. In the morning, Shen Anning was busy in the infirmary with Shen Zixi. Now that the weather is hot, Shen Anning has already prepared the anti-heat medicine needed by the two villages. At noon, the village office will set up a large iron pot to boil.

The commune also sells it, but people from several villages close to Wangtu Village still come to Shen Anning to buy it. A village needs about ten packs a day, and each pack costs ten cents, which is very cheap. There are hundreds of people in the village, and each person costs less than a cent, so everyone is happy to drink it.

Shen Anning already has hundreds of orders here. People who need to buy will come to the infirmary every morning. Relying on the summer heat medicine, she estimates that she can earn a hundred or so yuan this summer and autumn.

At noon, I simply stir-fried some green peppers and pork belly, and a portion of Chinese cabbage. The staple food was a steamed bun made of two-grain flour, plus a pot of pork ribs and corn soup. The corn is at its most tender now, and it is very sweet whether it is boiled or roasted.

After lunch, she took Shen Zixi for a nap and closed the door of the infirmary. Now the villagers have reached a tacit understanding with her. They come to see a doctor in the morning, and there is usually no one in the infirmary in the afternoon.

At twelve o'clock, Shen Anning picked up Shen Zixi who was still sleeping and rode his bicycle to the farm. The last time he came here was the beginning of summer, and more than a month had passed.

After making ten dumplings for the gatekeeper and saying hello to him, Shen Anning rode his bike directly into the farm. At this time, everyone was having lunch and resting, the sun was strong, and there were not many people on the road.

Shen An Ning approached her brother and sister-in-law's house. The door was ajar and the window was open. Shen An Ning pushed the door open and entered the house, and saw her mother and sister-in-law standing in front of the stove preparing to cook.

"Mom, sister-in-law."

Qin Shuni wiped her hands on her apron and walked forward. "It's so hot at this hour, why are you here at this time?"
