Chapter 73 Heavy Rain

In late October, according to previous years, the Northeast has entered early winter.

But the weather is still a little hot and humid. At about 2:30 in the afternoon, Shen Anning sorted out the things in the infirmary. There were more people coming to the infirmary in the past few days, so Shen Anning would open the door for a while in the afternoon.

Because it was close to the river, the foundation of her house was a little high when she built it. After closing the door and entering the yard, Shen Anning felt raindrops falling on her face.

First, collect the clothes hanging on the rope. Most of them have dried, but there are still a few slightly damp ones hung in the outer room of the east wing.

She felt that the weather was not very good these days, so her younger brothers and sisters brought umbrellas to school every day, but she was not worried.

It was still early, and Shen Zixi was still sleeping on the kang. The little girl would be one year old in a few days. She had been speaking more fluently recently, and could even stand and walk a few steps. She was so lively that except for bedtime, Shen An Ning didn't dare to let the little girl out of her sight.

I looked at the sky. It was still drizzling and there were not so many dark clouds. It was a bit gloomy, but not very dark.

I took out the cotton and cloth prepared a few days ago from the kang cabinet and started making clothes. I have to prepare a lot of clothes this year, so I took the time to make some now to avoid being too late when the time comes.

You can use a sewing machine when mending, but you still have to do the cutting and quilting slowly. Shen Anning made cotton jackets for her grandparents first. Although she made cotton jackets for them last year, they were not thick enough. She was afraid that this winter would be too cold and the elderly would be weak and unable to endure it.

Grandpa Cao and Grandma Cao's figures are similar to those of her own grandparents. Shen An Ning prepared their share together. She remembered the kindness of the jade pendant, so she would definitely help if she could within her ability.

At three o'clock, the little girl woke up and saw her aunt sitting beside her. She didn't cry or make a fuss, but turned over and climbed up by herself. Watching her movements, Shen An Ning put away the needle and thread in her hand and put it somewhere far away. She sat cross-legged with her hands open, waiting for the little guy to stumble into her arms.

The soft and sticky little girl stood up, confirmed Shen Anning's direction, and her two little feet began to move, "Ah, Auntie."

With a strong effort of both hands, she picked up the little girl and let her stand on her calves, "Wow, baby is so great, auntie kiss me, mmm."

"Hehehe, baby, kiss."

Putting her face closer, "Well, auntie will give the baby a kiss too." With a face full of saliva, Shen Anning smiled, wiped her face with a handkerchief, closed the bedroom door, and took the little girl into the space.

First, I carried the little girl to the sofa and said, "Come, baby, let's change the diaper first, okay."

I changed it once at noon, and it has been almost three hours now. I used baby-specific cotton tissues to clean the little girl with clean water and changed her to a clean one. Looking at the little girl's comfortable expression with her eyes squinted, Shen Anning smiled.

Putting the little person in the baby walker, taking her to the kitchen, and looking in the refrigerator, Shen An Ning decided to make her some yam and jujube paste cakes, and a portion of shrimp ball and loofah soup.

Now that Shen Zixi is older, Shen Anning has begun to consciously train her to pick up the chopsticks by herself and has started practicing, even though the little one is just fooling around.

The ingredients are all ready-made, and no seasoning is needed, so it is quick to make. Shen Zixi eats a bite of pancake and a mouthful of soup very happily, "Auntie, okay, baby belly."

"Yes, baby, you must be full, right? Okay, let's do some exercise to help digest the food."

Shen Anning carried the person down from the chair and went to the living room. The floor of the living room was now covered with thick cotton mats, so there was no need to worry that she would fall.

"Come on, baby, come to your aunt."

Looking at the little girl standing still, she thought for a long time before lifting one foot. "That's right, baby, come on, take a few more steps."

The little guy stretched out his hands to maintain balance, babbling, as if to cheer himself up. Shen An Ning laughed so hard that her stomach hurt.

After playing for more than ten minutes, he touched Xixi's little belly and rubbed it, then let her lie on the carpet and did a gas-relieving exercise for the little girl according to the instructions in the book.

"Okay, that's enough for today. Let's go out and wait for my aunt and uncle."

The sky outside was getting darker, and the rain was a little heavier than before. As the rain got heavier, Shen Anning estimated that school would end a little earlier.

Putting on thick clothes, holding the little girl in her arms, putting on a raincoat and rain boots, holding an umbrella, Shen Anning walked to the entrance of the village, ready to welcome her younger brothers and sisters.

Before reaching the village entrance, Shen An Ning saw from a distance a group of children with umbrellas coming back. There were not enough umbrellas, so some children were wearing straw raincoats. Shen An Ning walked forward.

After reuniting with the group of children, I saw that many of them had wet clothes. "When you go home, everyone must drink two bowls of ginger water. Do you understand? Watch your body temperature. If you have a runny nose or a fever, ask the adults at home to come to me for medicine. Do you understand?"

"I know, Sister An Ning."

"Okay, let's go home and change our clothes as soon as we get home."

Shen Anning followed her younger brother and sister, and the three of them walked home. The rain was getting heavier, and it made a banging sound when it hit the umbrella. Shen Anning pressed her little niece's head into her arms and quickened her pace.

As soon as she entered the house, Shen Anning looked at her brother and sister, who were all wet. "An Xuan and An Yu, go back to your room and change clothes first. There's hot water in the kettle in the kitchen. Remember to wipe your bodies."

Watching his younger brother and sister enter the house, Shen Anning took Xixi to the kitchen to make brown sugar ginger water for them, poured it into a kettle, and prepared for the two to drink it.

I kept dinner simple, making a pot of carrot and mutton soup, a plate of hot and sour potato shreds, and a few steamed buns made of two-grain flour.

When he was eating on the kang with his younger brother and sister, there was a loud thunder in the sky, rumbling loudly. Shen Zixi was so scared that he hid in Shen Anning's arms and dared not move.

Covering her ears, Shen An Ning looked out the window. She didn't know how long this heavy rain would last. Fortunately, the crops in the fields were harvested early this year, otherwise, who knows how much food would be wasted.

It was raining and the temperature dropped a lot. After dinner, Shen Anning replaced the kangs in the two rooms of the north house with thick mattresses. Shen Anxuan was also a little afraid of such weather, so she let Shen Anxuan sleep with her tonight, and An Yu would sleep in Anxuan's room for one night.

Shen Anning knew that the waterproofing was done well at her grandparents' place, and the two old people had everything, so Shen Anning didn't have to worry much.
