Chapter 90 Letter from Cao Jingheng

After the New Year, although everyone is still hibernating, they are gradually getting busy. Families that are close to each other usually get together with their home crafts, chat and gossip.

When the girls from the educated youth site had nothing to do, they would bring cloth and needles and thread to Shen Anning's courtyard. It was quite interesting for them to get together and chat while working.

Shen Anning has been busy these days knitting a thin and lightweight sweater for her second brother in the army, preparing to send it to her before the Lantern Festival.

Xu Hongxia is a clumsy person. She can't make clothes or knit sweaters, so she helps to organize the wool on the kang and thread the needle there. She also has nonsensical conversations with little Xixi, which adds a lot of vitality to the courtyard.

Outside the window, it started snowing again.

A glass window divides the inside and outside of the house into two different worlds.

Shen Anning sat by the window, leaning against the wall, blending in with the snowy background outside the window. The way he lowered his head and knitted seriously made Xu Hongxia stunned.

The words came out of her mouth uncontrollably, "An Ning, you've grown up in the past two years. You've become more and more beautiful. If I were a man, I really want to marry you."

Shen Anning shook her head with a smile, looking at the few people on the kang looking at her, "Compared to you, I'm still a little bit behind. My height has changed a little, and the rest is about the same as when I came here two years ago."

Shen Anning was not lying. After all, she was only sixteen years old and not yet seventeen. Her face was still very childish. Moreover, she had deliberately not used excessive sunscreen this year. Compared with the fair skin when she first arrived, her skin was still a little darker. Compared with the beautiful educated youth, she was still a little worse.

Xu Hongxia looked at her carefully for a while, "That's true, but you really looked good from that angle just now."

Shen Anning smiled but said nothing. After everyone at the educated youth site went back, she held Xixi and sat on the kang to play. Xu Hongxia's words also reminded her that in a few years, the "kind-hearted" aunts and "eager" bachelors in the village might really set their sights on her.

Things will work out when the time comes. Shen An Ning shook her head and made up her mind that if anyone was blind, she would kill the chicken to scare the monkey.

Two days before the Lantern Festival, the weather began to clear up and the road from the village to the town was reopened. Shen Anning took the things he wanted to send to his family and his second brother and rode his bicycle to the town.

Because she often went to the post office to send and pick up things, she became quite familiar with the people there. She knew everyone from the staff sitting at the counter to the postman who delivered letters to the village.

As soon as he entered the post office, Ana Shen heard Sun Qianqian's teasing voice, "Wow, we've only been working for a short time, and already there are business coming to us."

Ana Shen smiled, “Sister Qianqian.”

"Okay, I'm not kidding you anymore. Are you still sending something?"

"Well, send a few sweaters to my brother and my aunt and uncle." Shen Anning took the packed clothes out of the backpack. They were not very heavy and were packed quickly.

Looking at the addresses of the two military regions, Sun Qianqian was really envious. Now that one person is serving in the army, the whole family is honored.

What’s more, there are people from the Beijing Military Region.

After putting the things away and waiting for the postman to pick them up, Sun Qianqian looked at the pile of letters on the table and nodded.

There was a snap, which made Shen Anning stunned.

"An Ning, I forgot. There are letters and packages for you. They were sent from the military region in Guangzhou. The address is different from your usual mailing address. Look at my brain."

Sun Qianqian picked out the letter and found a large package in the house, both of which had arrived two days ago.

Shen Anning looked at the package that Sun Qianqian took out. What did Cao Jingheng send her? It looked like too much.

She hurried forward to take the item and said, "Sister Qianqian, let me take it. This should be sent by my eldest brother from my relative's family. If you see this address in the future, please keep an eye out for me."

Shen An Ning directly picked up the package with one hand and stuffed it into the backpack. The package was too big and part of it was exposed outside.

Sun Qianqian looked at Shen Anning’s small arms, then moved her own arms which were a little sore, feeling a little surprised.

"Then I'll leave first. This is the walnut cake I made yesterday. I brought you two pieces to try." Shen An Ning stuffed an oil paper bag into Sun Qianqian's hand, picked up the backpack and walked out the door easily.

On the way home, she didn't run into anyone, so Shen Anning took the backpack directly to the east room. The package looked big and heavy, so she carefully unpacked it. . . .

Looking at the contents inside, Shen Anning was very suspicious that Cao Jingheng had sent it to the wrong person.

Taking out the letter from her pocket, she suddenly remembered that Cao Jingheng had also sent her a letter before, but she seemed to have put it away and forgotten to read it. . . .

In the study, there is a letter in the drawer:...

He opened it with some curiosity and found a piece of paper filled with writing. Sure enough, the first thing he asked was why Shen An Ning hadn't replied to his letter before.

After reading the letter, Shen Anning was a little surprised. Cao Jingheng was on a mission in Shanghai during this period. He had half a day off after the mission, so he went shopping in the department store and bought her two pieces of clothing, a beige plush windbreaker and a light yellow turtleneck sweater to wear inside, as well as a bunch of food and daily necessities, and even several bottles of skin care products for girls.

Shen Anning looked at the things on the kang and thought of the man who sat where she put her things that night. His deep voice seemed to be talking in her ear at this moment, sharing with her the trivialities of life and his thoughts when buying these things.

At this moment, Cao Jingheng was sweating on the training ground. His whole body was wet and he was lying exhausted on the muddy ground.

He was also wondering whether Shen An Ning would like the things she received, because the girl didn't reply to the letter he sent last time, and he was a little unsure. After all, her grandparents were there now, and he was counting on the Shen family to take into account their past friendship and help a little, so he put a lot of thought into it, hoping that the things he bought would please the girl.

. . . . . .

Shen Anning sorted out the things on the kang. These things could be used outside, but some of the clothes were too fashionable and not suitable for wearing in the village for the time being. She took out a piece of paper, thought about it, and decided to write a letter to Cao Jingheng.

They had only met once so far, so they were not very familiar with each other. Shen An Ning was a little at a loss as to what to write. She explained why she had not replied before, and could only pick up and talk about what she had heard from her grandparents about Grandpa Cao and Grandma Cao in the cowshed.

Put the letter in a box and wait for the postman to come to the village in the next few days or when she goes to work in town to send it.
