Chapter 4: A Show of Strength

Chapter 4: A Show of Strength

The network of relationships is so complicated these days that you have to be tactful when trying to flatter someone.

"Sister, mom asked me to bring these snacks and candies," Hang Jingshu handed them over as soon as they met. Hang Jingmei smiled with her eyebrows curved, "Our Ni has really grown up!"

Hang Chenggang is a taciturn person. He sent his sister here this time because he happened to be in the county town doing some business.

The old lady of the Wang family was not a good person, and Hang Chenggang was too lazy to talk to her, so he just sent Hang Jingshu to the intersection and left.

My brother-in-law Wang Xiangchun also came out pushing his bicycle, "Ni is here, let's go."

Hang Jingshu sat on the back seat of his eldest sister's bicycle, and the three of them rode for nearly an hour before they arrived at the family compound.

Manager Zhang was waiting at the gate of the family compound. When he saw Hang Jingshu, his eyes widened. How could such a young man know how to cook?!

Manager Zhang led three people to register at the door, his heart beating fast.

It would be fine if the job trial fails, but it would be a big deal if I lose face.

But I've already told the Yan family about it, so it has to be put on the shelves even if it means rushing to do something.

There was no other choice, Manager Zhang could only take the three people to the family compound.

This is the best family compound in the city. There are only a dozen or so two-story single-family houses, as well as some additional buildings and activity venues.

The gate was wide and majestic, and the trees on both sides of the road were straight and green. Hang Jingshu followed his sister and brother-in-law inside, and his breathing became lighter unconsciously.

Soon they arrived at a small courtyard. Manager Zhang knocked on the door gently and then began to instruct Hang Jingshu again, "Don't look around or ask around when you go in. Do what you can do and don't say anything you shouldn't say."

After saying this, he looked at Wang Xiangchun and his wife with dissatisfaction, saying that they were really bold, and how dare they do something like this at such a young age.

Hang Jingshu was very calm in her heart. She wanted to make money anyway, and if things didn't work out here, she would go somewhere else.

The door opened and a young woman in her thirties appeared. She leaned against the door and asked, "Are you here to apply for the job of nanny?"

Manager Zhang stepped forward and replied with a smile, "Yes, we agreed a few days ago. Let's try it today."

The young wife then opened the door and looked around at the people, "Whoever applies can come in, the others wait outside."

I thought it would be the older one, but unexpectedly the one who came in was the youngest.

After entering the courtyard, Hang Jingshu found that it was really nice. As soon as he entered the door, he saw several neatly arranged flower fields, surrounded by red bricks, and many flowers were planted inside.

After taking only a few steps, I heard uniform slogans coming from not far away.

Hang Jingshu turned around and looked through the fence, only to see that it was the soldiers who were training.

However, Hang Jingshu didn't look at him for long. He just took a glance and turned around and quietly followed the person in front of him.

As we walked and looked around, we found that this single-family house was in an excellent location. The overall structure was in the shape of a U, with the main gate facing east and facing the three main rooms. There were also a lot of ivy on the walls of the second floor.

There are three side rooms on the left side, and a grape trellis on the right side, with a stone table and chairs under the trellis.

Next to the grape trellis is a low flower wall planted with honeysuckle and a small cherry tree.

There are a few pots of flowers at the door, and there is some moss in the gaps between the stone slabs. It is a poetic and picturesque little courtyard.

There were no dead branches or leaves in the yard, and it looked clean and tidy everywhere, obviously someone took good care of it every day.

After seeing the yard, Hang Jingshu had some superficial understanding of the two old men's personalities: they were rich, had time, and had good taste.

Passing by the small courtyard and opening the door, Hang Jingshu saw the interior scene. It was a simple and solemn decoration. Although he couldn't tell what kind of wood it was, just from the color, it was different from his own home.

There are many old photos and badges on the bookshelf in the living room.

Hang Jingshu lowered his head slightly, without looking around, and stood at the door waiting for the man to speak.

The young wife was reading Hang Jingshu's book attentively. She didn't read randomly like the others did when they came in. Instead, she hummed with satisfaction.

"The kitchen is on the east side. Go and cook a few dishes. Will two hours be enough?" the young wife said in a light tone, obviously not taking Hang Jingshu seriously.

"How many people are eating? How old are you?" Although Hang Jingshu had some idea when he came, he still wanted to ask more clearly.

The young wife was very impatient. She looked Hang Jingshu up and down before she spoke: "Two elderly people in their sixties."

He paused again, as if he didn't quite believe it, and asked, "How old are you? Can you really cook?"

Hang Jingshu was slightly startled, then he smiled, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Age is not important. As long as the food tastes good, that's fine. Don't you agree?"

The man didn't expect Hang Jingshu to say that. He looked a little unnatural, and his originally harsh face seemed a little softer. "Then be quiet."

After saying that, she pointed to the kitchen to Hang Jingshu, put on an apron and went to do her own thing.

The room was very quiet. Hang Jingshu breathed a sigh of relief and went in to find that all the ingredients were prepared.

Cucumber, black fungus, carrot, coriander, hot pepper, celery, cabbage and a piece of tofu. In the kitchen sink there was also a three or four pound carp and a piece of pork belly.

Hang Jingshu glanced at the clock in the living room. It was not yet nine o'clock, so eleven o'clock would be the perfect time for dinner.

Since he was an old man and liked Shandong cuisine, Hang Jingshu silently calculated the recipe and cooking order in his mind, and only started to process the carp after everything was finalized.

Shandong cuisine is the first of the eight major cuisines. It originated earlier than other cuisines and is mainly salty and fragrant.

Hang Jingshu raised his head and looked around, but he didn't see the young wife he had just seen.

Wash your hands first, then open the refrigerator and see if there are any other ingredients.

There were all kinds of seasonings on the kitchen counter, but Hang Jingshu hadn't used this kind of rice cooker for a long time and was a little unsure about it, so he decided to prepare the fish first.

The two old people would order at most four dishes and one soup, and Hang Jingshu quickly decided on the dishes.

First they ordered the classic dish, sweet and sour carp, followed by mu shu pork and cucumber pancake. Unsure of their taste, Hang Jingshu also planned to make stir-fried pork belly with chili peppers.

Sweet and salty, light taste, and a little chili to adjust the flavor, and finally make a three-beauty soup, and it’s complete.

Hang Jingshu was busy in the kitchen, processing the fish and meat first and putting the unused vegetables in the refrigerator.

The surroundings were empty, and the house still used gas. Hang Jingshu was unsure and wanted to ask, but still couldn't find anyone.

Now Hang Jingshu also understood what was going on. That person was trying to intimidate him.

But solutions are all found by people. Hang Jingshu looked at the button and studied it carefully. Today's gas stoves are relatively simple, and he finally got it done.

The young wife on the second floor saw Hang Jingshu working in an orderly manner and rolled her eyes in dissatisfaction.

What kind of food can a young girl cook?

These old couple are really troublesome. What’s the use of any cuisine or knife skills?

I can eat it.

The young wife is the nanny of this family, and she is usually in charge of the hygiene inside and outside the house.

Aunt Zhou, who was previously in charge of cooking, was fired after she took some meat home.

If she were to say, the water is too clear to have any fish. The old couple are so rich, why would they need this little bit of meat?
