Kang Cheng was startled. Why was someone in the house?
He turned around and saw a tall, handsome man in a black robe looking at him with a half-smile.
The word "vampire" suddenly popped into Kang Cheng's mind, because this man had the noble yet alluring aura of a vampire.
But Kang Cheng also felt a strange sense of familiarity with this man.
"Who are you?" Kang Cheng's voice trembled.
Given his current frail physique, if this person were here to kill him, he would have no ability to resist.
"Ha, you're not even afraid of death, so why are you afraid of me?" The man looked at Kang Cheng with a hint of disdain.
Kang Cheng mustered his courage and gripped the paper cutter tightly.
If he hadn't offended anyone, then another possibility was that his father had offended someone, or that his father's political enemies had sent people to kill him.
The paper cutter in Kang Cheng's hand suddenly slipped from his grasp, and upon closer inspection, it was already in the man's hand.
“I know what you’re thinking. I’m neither someone you’ve offended, nor someone sent by your father’s political enemies.”
I'm here to help you.
You can say I am you, or you can say I am the person your inner desires have summoned.
Kang Cheng looked at the man in black more closely and found that he did indeed resemble him by seven or eight points, of course, when he was at the peak of his good looks.
The man's voice suddenly became low and deep.
Do you want to change your current life? You are constantly met with contempt, insults, malice, and even your family members are starting to dislike you.
That's exactly right. Wasn't that exactly what his dad did at the dinner table tonight?
"What's it to you?" Kang Cheng snapped, his sore spot being reopened.
"Why get angry? I'm here to help you. I'm just pointing out the root of your pain."
"So you said you can change my current situation, how can you help me?"
Kang Cheng suddenly felt a glimmer of hope.
The man chuckled softly.
"I can restore you to your former glory; everything you've lost will come back to you."
But you know, nothing in this world comes for free; we have to make a deal.
The man begins to guide Kang Cheng, suggesting that the world is magical, and that as long as Kang Cheng's obsession is strong enough, he can be changed.
Since Kang Cheng doesn't want to live anyway, why not give it a try?
Kang Cheng stared longingly at the man in front of him who resembled him. He already imagined that once he recovered, his college classmates and alumni would fawn over him again, and wherever he went, he would be met with admiring glances from the girls.
He thought of his ex-girlfriend whom he had abandoned. It was only during his most desperate time that he realized he loved her and could bring her back to his side.
"Okay, as long as I can get back to my former glory, I'll agree to any deal you ask for."
The man in black revealed a victorious smile.
"That's right! My deal is: give me your soul!"
The man's voice suddenly became gentle and deep, as if to lull someone into a dream.
Kang Cheng's frail body felt inexplicably comfortable and refreshed.
"Okay!" Kang Cheng replied hastily, fearing that if he hesitated even a moment longer, the other party would change their mind.
The man in black tore down the New Year picture from the wall. "This is a contract. Just sign your name and put your fingerprint on it."
He also thoughtfully took out a pen and a box of old-fashioned ink pads from his pocket.
Kang Cheng breathed a sigh of relief when he realized he didn't have to cut his finger. Without thinking twice, he signed and pressed his fingerprint directly.
The man in black blew the ink dry, gave a wicked smile, and tossed the painting back onto the wall, as if it had grown there permanently.
After signing the contract, Kang Cheng felt a sudden emptiness in his heart. Seeing that the man didn't intend to take the painting away, he felt relieved.
If things don't go as planned, then just destroy the contract on the wall.
The man in black, a barely perceptible sneer playing on his lips, vanished.
Kang Cheng felt sleepy and fell asleep as soon as he lay down on the bed.
The chirping of birds outside the window woke Kang Cheng in the early morning.
He stretched, feeling refreshed today. Looking at his hands, he noticed his skin was smooth and his nails had a healthy pink hue.
He immediately jumped up and rushed to the mirror, whereupon his youthful, energetic, and handsome face returned.
