Xiaoxi leaped to the edge of the altar, when suddenly a powerful force caused her to stumble back several steps and almost fall off the altar.
What an overbearing formation!
She summoned a talisman, which pierced through the air and emitted a powerful fluctuation.
Taking advantage of the fluctuations, Xiaoxi was drawn into the formation.
The wind was blowing loudly on the altar.
She then realized that the broken gong and cymbals on the altar were actually the sound of a small windmill turning in the wind.
The sound was so unsettling it was mind-numbing; it was truly awful.
Xiaoxi picked up the burning oil lamp on the altar, poured out the oil, and threw it into the windmill axle.
The windmill stalled, losing power, and the cymbals finally stopped ringing.
Xiaoxi then walked toward the person who was bound on the altar.
As expected, the man was incredibly handsome, yet looked as helpless as a fallen nobleman.
Xiaoxi was about to untie his rope.
"Who moved your Taoist master's windmill?"
A hoarse, booming voice came from above, so loud that the ground shook.
Just as Xiaoxi had predicted, it wasn't that easy after all.
"ah!"
Xiao Xi quickly jumped away from the man in white, turned around, and looked terrified.
She saw a burly, Taoist-looking man staring at her from the roof of the opposite hall.
Xiao Xi's frightened expression pleased the Taoist priest.
He laughed wildly as he leaped down from the rooftop.
This tall figure was like an iron tower, surpassing five or six Xiao Xi's combined.
He looked Xiaoxi up and down, his eyes gleaming with greed, as if he were looking at a tender lamb.
"Not bad, Leopard did a good job, you found the right girl! Did you stop my windmill? You've got some nerve!"
"Ah? Master... this... this adorable windmill, you made it? I... I've seen big windmills in the park, but none of them are as exquisite as yours. Master, you're amazing!"
Xiaoxi's expression was a mixture of admiration and fear.
"Ha ha ha ha!"
Flattery will get you everywhere.
"Little girl, you have a sweet tongue. I, your humble Taoist priest, am reluctant to use you as a sacrifice to the heavens!"
"Huh? What? Are you going to kill me? Why do you want me to be sacrificed to the heavens?"
"Master, please let me go home! I want to go home, sob sob sob sob!"
"Oh dear, you're crying now? Fine, I'll take pity on you and at least let you die knowing why!"
This Taoist priest probably hadn't spoken to anyone for many years, and he started showing off, instantly becoming a chatterbox.
He began by recounting how he cultivated Taoism and how, by chance, he occupied this Taoist temple, and today he was about to cultivate the Golden Elixir Great Dao.
"Little girl, do you see the center of that blood groove? When midnight arrives, the blood of the boy and girl will merge and be used to sacrifice this part of Tianyu Mountain. Hahaha, at that time, even the heavenly lightning will be powerless against me."
"So that's it," Xiaoxi realized. That explained why the man in white had been bound to the drop of blood, and why he'd seen the blood had already reached the center of the blood pool.
"Hey, it's almost time! Look at me rambling on like this, I almost missed the important business!"
The Taoist priest ignored Xiaoxi, knowing that she couldn't escape the formation anyway.
With a "whoosh," the Taoist priest flew back to the roof of the opposite hall and slipped through a window on the second floor.
Xiao Xi quickly diverted her consciousness to observe the Taoist priest's movements.
She immediately ran to the man in white, took out a pill and put it in his mouth, then used a knife to cut the ropes on his hands and put a band-aid on his injured wrist.
Just as they were about to cut the ropes binding his feet, they realized that the Taoist priest was about to come out.
Xiaoxi immediately jumped to the side, lay on the ground, and continued to pretend to cry.
Her eyes peeked through her fingers at the Taoist priest.
The Taoist priest then brought out a sacrificial table with various offerings, such as pig's head and fruit.
He was about to walk towards Xiaoxi when he suddenly remembered that the cymbals hadn't rung, so he went to fix the windmill while cursing.
Suddenly, the wind stopped.
The Taoist priest was a little disappointed that there was no accompaniment. Then, seeing that the time had come, he took two steps over, bent down, and was about to scoop up Xiao Xi.
"Little girl, it's time for you to donate your blood."
With a "snap," Xiao Xi suddenly produced two crescent-shaped halberds and swung them down at the Taoist priest's head.
The Taoist priest reacted extremely quickly, leaping back a large step.
